GEC Cuban Cigar Patterns #53 & #54

Seriously, the 440C begs to be used, and the stag is nice and slim for the pocket.
The stainless won't patina and the stag only looks better with time and use.

Thanks for the reply.

Not the cover(s)..fit is great. Between two of the springs. Notice, no liners inboard. I can pinch the knife and reduce the gap...where is my 2 lb lump hammer, anyway?

If it were me, I'd just let that go. Sending it back to GEC for repair is no guarantee that they will be able to "close the gap" and the gap is so narrow that it will never interfer with the use of the knife. All that gap does is prove that GEC isn't perfect.

Thanks for the comments. I agree. This doesnt diminish my love of the brand and in no way was meant as a slight to GEC..outstanding quality, virtually hand made..small issue.

I did speak w/ Chris today (very pleasant and very awesome) She had stated to send it in and they would see what they can do..Happy enough w/ the offer for them to do so.

I'll ship it out today and if it comes back in the same condition, I will cherish it no less..I have three in these covers and love the knife.

I

It's a bummer that GEC doesn't plan to use horn for covers anymore.
.

What was their reasoning? Assume this info came from someone in the know, such as a GEC employee? Regardless, it is/was a very nice cover material. I especially like the ones I have with white or grey swirls in it.

Speaking of stainless, and given all the various configurations they've made, they missed the mark not offering a big jack (spear & clip) in 440c stainless. That's one I would use. Their stainless is fine stuff.

(I'm aware they made a few stag Cripple Creek big jacks in 420 stainless... but that's the only exception I'm aware of.) Me, I want the 440

Straight from the man himself, Bill Howard. I asked on a tour and he said it was too fragile and they got a lot of returns / warranty work.

the TK’s are my favorite! ! :D

I think they're my fav of the 53/54s too. Love how slim they are and given that I'm surprised they aren't/weren't more popular when they debuted given the current popularity of the 35 pattern. (They took a while to sell out) Regardless, I'm pretty sure I've got all of the TKs and I believe that's the first time I've been fortunate enough to get all variations of any particular GEC pattern run. I'll try to get a group photo soon, but 'til then GECs stock photo will have to do. The mustard bone might be my favorite of the lot.

Are we talking the black Horn (buffalo) with the feathered streaks here not Rams horn, correct?
