GEC new #43 pattern, who’s excited?

Thanks man. If you still want to post it with some other traditionals that's cool, as I'd be happy to see. But I know the PM2, and that looks like I'm gonna dig it.
Your very welcome !
I’ll see when I get off work tonight and my schedule as far as posting some more comparisons for you
I think you’ll like it though it’s a nice knife and feels great in hand to:thumbsup:

I am really a fan of the larger lanyard hole on these. A knife of this style needs a leather lanyard in my opinion. The larger hole allows for easy access for the leather strips. was this done by design or by accident on these?

Thats one thing I forgot to mention .
I’d like to take credit but it’s Gec’s factory edge and razor sharp !! Sharpest Gec out of the tube I ever owned .
Amazing factory edge even on both sides to !
Mine came with a razors edge too. However when I do just let the knife close on it’s own it hits the spring. I did put some foam strips in to help with this. Last night I touched up the edge a little then put it back in the slip. When I went to put it up I noticed a 1/4 inch dull spot right where the blade hits the spring. It had been a 1/2 inch before adding the foam. I know I had been careful to close it after I touched up the edge. So now I am thinking the slip may be a little narrow and forcing the blade into the spring.

I would do another sharpening/reprofile of the cutting edge. If the edge is sharp from GEC that means there's a good chance that metal at the edge is burned and will roll easily. They use power sharpeners there, and I've seen that a lot on factory GEC edges.

I hope mine is the only one with this issue. I can actually see a mark on the spring where it is making contact. Really that is how I found the issue and caused me to look at the blade.

Yes I’ve been giving it the hair popping test and a visual also . Think I might just start guiding it down now instead of just letting it fly close just to be safe .
Again sorry your having that issue but maybe you can exchange to solve the problem ?

I think I am going to keep it and use it. I can deal with it. I really don’t think it will take much more to fix the issue. I may just add a foam strip the length of the blade and replace it as needed till it’s been sharpened enough times to resolve the issue. This is my first GEC that I have bought for myself and I waited 5 months to get it.

Maybe you can just file the area slightly on the back spring were it’s hitting with a small file ? Probably won’t take much

Out of curiosity, which version is it?

I wouldn't do that. You run the risk of not doing a perfect enough job and altering the spring action, and going too deep and grinding into the pin (that spring protrusion is there in part to house the pin).

A reprofile down to 18dps really ought to do the trick and leave the blade with a seriously sharp attitude...

For sure depending how deep you’d had to go . I was thinking if it was barely hitting but enough to damage the edge .
There’s a lot of blade there so maybe that is your best bet . It’s a shame though regardless to have to do that to the blade . You can just make the choil bigger to if you end up taking to much off the blade

Looks like white camel bone not orange?

On a knife this size smooth white camel bone would look really good with all the brass. Now if they would just change the shield to anything other than the cloud I would be really tempted to pick one up.

It’s probably going to be dyed would be my guess.
