GEC new #43 pattern, who’s excited?

Already has, as the #42 Lockback

I don’t mind if they call it a #42 or #43 so long as it locks  Being larger then the #73 it bridges a gap between most slipjoints and fixed blades and is a nice compromise. I’ll have to take a look at the last time the #42 Lockback was in production. In the last few years I think we’ve seen #72’s and #83’s , but nothing larger then that with a lock.... Although I may have missed it.

The 99 Wall Street was 3 3/4” (and I wish they’d do another run of those). Those came out toward the end of 2014 though. A fraction smaller than the 72 but significantly larger than the 83. The recent Mudbug SFO was bigger than both.

I’m waiting to see the green and red before I decide. Frontier bone is classic but doesn’t really appeal to me.

I got a frontier on the way too. Can't wait to put it to work. It's a little bigger than what I usually get so it should be interesting

I had completely forgotten about the #99 ( as I’ll admit I also lost sight of the #42) but I guess that’s to be expected since it looks like it’s been about three years since either was in circulation. I don’t have a good excuse for never picking up a Mudbug as I’ve seen three runs come and go and I’ve carried a # 71 every day for the last 8 months... Maybe next time if nothing else is released with a lock before that.

The #43’s are looking great and I have no doubt will be an outstanding knife. I’m really looking forward to folks pictures and impressions once they have them in hand.

Here’s a few borrowed pics showing a nice comparison with the #73. That Frontier bone looks great!

I love the look of the frontier bone; but, as much as I want this one, I'm going to pass. (I don't believe I've saying this, but) it's just too big. I like big modern folders - I'm a bit more conservative when it comes to traditionals.

So is this knife just a non-locking version of the 42?

I can't pick the difference

Wait. Now I see it. The 43 doesn't have the small hump on the lower edge of the handle. So I guess the 43 is a 42-sized 74?

In other words there are three families of knife which are very similar:

Lockbacks 83<72<42
Remington bullets n<73<n<23
Forum knife 0<74<43

Lucky I’m still waiting on the post office. I’m supposed to get mine today but the US post isn’t very fast or reliable. The tracking on mine showed it left OKC on Friday at 8:30am and that didn’t change till noon today. I could have driven to there and back about 10times by now.

Pull is about a 6 or 7 I think it would be a 10 on a small knife. I think the big blade gives you more leverage so it seems easier to open. Love the frontier bone and how both sides are different. Kinda makes my 78 feel like a peanut:eek: also it’s pinchable:cool::D
