GEC Rendezvous 2022

This is the view from the deck at Cross Creek Resort. A lot of people stay here during their Rendezvous visit. As you can see the day time weather was wonderful both days. (On the left is my oldest Brother-in-law, Mike. On the right is my friend Martin)

The picnic is the final part of the Rendezvous experience. It is held at Mystic Park a few miles outside of Titusville. The meal is catered and is delicious.

The picnic is a great way to conclude the festivities. Here is a picture with Bill Howard on the right. He seemed to really enjoy himself this year.

I always enjoy seeing pictures from the Rendezvous. Thanks for sharing, guys. I know I say this every year, but I’m going to make it there eventually. 😁

Some interesting acrylics on the Rendezvous knives this year. Thankfully I’m not feeling like I missed out on the #88, as it just isn’t my favorite pattern. Still, it looks pretty cool with that red and black acrylic, and I like the tube artwork.

Buckeye Sharp Buckeye Sharp that 1 of 4 #49 looks really nice.

I hope everyone who made it had a great time!

The wife and I just returned from the rendezvous and I must say it was a fine way to spend a couple days away from home and work and with a really great bunch of cutlery enthusiasts from all around the country and the locals of Titusville,Pa. A big Thank You must be given to the owners and workers of Great Eastern Cutlery for not only hosting this event but also for creating the countless special knife variations that are sold in the store just for this event . Just for insight into what was available there were 55 rendezevous specials made as well as various "S" marked store only knives and several Special Factory Assembly knives in the Northfield and Tidoute lines as well as recent regular production knives. Here's a couple of pictures of ours-

Nice knives! That #83 looks good in Muslin Micarta, I always like when GEC uses that.

There were several tables set up on the front lawn and people were selling knives. This one is a Camillus tear drop in the hands of Bill Howard. I think he was checking it out to make sure his 85’s measure up. Thank you John ( Augie Augie ) for offering such a solid older knife for me to take care of.

I love this knife Travis! I have a few beat up versions of it but this is the bollocks (as they say in the UK)

Good work sir!

any intel on what’s in store from our pals at GEC?
They are usually tight lipped with future plans. Although, I did overhear two minor bits of information: 1) There are 3 new patterns that will be produced over the next year. 2) There are already plans built in for additional versions of the 88 pattern including a three blade stockman.

Here are a few pics from our stay at the Cross Creek Resort. This is where a lot of people stay during their GEC Rendevous visit. We generally have dinner together and then hang out on the deck as the sun goes down. Then we migrate back inside to the bar to see if anyone is brave enough to sing Karaoke. The bar has an interesting rotating round bar that might make you a little seasick.

Sunrise from the deck this morning. The temperature was 52 degrees F in the early morning, which is very refreshing compared to the heat and humidity that has already come to Virginia.

Wish they had done the 83 Muslin Micarta in the normal production. Very nice.

One of the GEC employees showed us his collection. Most of his knives were stamped with a ”2” on the back side of the tang stamp. These knives are called “seconds”. Second knives are kind of like “S” stamped store knives, but these are only sold to employees for a reduced price.
