GEC Rendezvous 2022

Last year was the only Rendezvous I've been to so far. I just couldn't make it work this year, but hope to be back next time. Did GEC have a similar rule to last year, where you could only buy 2 knives when it was your turn in the store?

How many folks camped out all night on the stoop?

Thanks for the pics, hoping to see some other SFAs as well.
Yes, it was similar to last year and you could only buy 2 knives per trip into the store. So, I bought a rendezvous knife and a SFA (Special Factory Assembly) knife in the morning. I did go back in later in the day and bought two more SFA’s. They have a ticket system where you get a simple sequential ticket so you know when you are up.

There were about 35-40 people that stayed overnight outside the factory waiting for the doors to open at 7am. That number swelled to about 100 as people arrived in the morning.

Travel plans got changed this weekend, I was going to be within driving distance of the 'Vous and would have made the trip today, and now I'm going to have night terrors about missing those Hummingbird 83s.

To add to Travis' report, Bill had coffee, water, cookies, hot dogs, commerative pins etc for the attendees..... It was a wonderful event and every effort was made to make people feel comfortable and welcome....

That’s helpful to know. Hoping next year will be my first Rendezvous.

Edit…I now know that one is satin and one polished. Jealous of both!

Nice pick ups! I’m confused on the antique yellow 49’s. Your top says 1 of 4, but another member has the same and his top says 1 of 28. Any idea what’s going on there?
The 1 of 4 knife appears to have a satin finished blade with the appropriate Northfield etch for that version.

Inquiring minds want to know - Was there a Porta-Poti set up nearby for everyone drinking coffee throughout the night to use or was it a go behind the nearest tree event?

Yeah, at 74 years old, that'd be one of my concerns. Although, I'd rather go behind a tree than use a Port-a-potty.:)
I live 3 1/2 hrs down state from Titusville, and I should go sometime. Because I really need more knives. (Not.)

Hi Ed,
Yes, there was a port-a-pot..... It was set up on the north side of the factory along a sidewalk.... It was a little tippy when I stepped in and out of it..... When I got back to my chair I asked the group around me what they'd do if it tipped over with me in it..... They all laughed and said they'd throw me in the back of a pickup truck and head for the nearest car wash!!

When the factory is open during normal hours there are Men's and Ladies rooms the attendees can use.....

And if someone was using it, there was a huge drain grate conveniently located right in front of it.

Yes. They have a Porta-Potty set up around the left side of their building for all us who wait outside and it is one of the cleanest ones I’ve ever seen.
