GEC Rendezvous and Picnic!

I had dark visions of putting it on my roof to get in my car and it flying off at 60mph…

I had that happen once with a well-worn and much-loved baseball glove. Never saw it again. :( (Ok, so it's not the same as potentially losing a full knife roll, but still…). Glad to hear that your knives were found!

Hey, Duncan and I just arrived at the Buffalo airport, with only one unintentional exit on way to the airport (I think Jack's sense of direction rubbed off on us):D now the wait for our 5:45 departure back home. Had an absolute blast at the rendezvous, thank you EVERYONE, without a doubt knife people are the most sincere, kind, friendly, caring people on the planet, I am honored and blessed to meet and make so many friends, words fall short in describing how great EVERYONE was. Thanks for a fantastic time everyone:cool::)

LHS - mate - I did see you around - but regret not getting to see more of you and chatting - what a busy time. We all were concerned for your worries knowing that once you had found that your knives were missing - Oh my!!!!
Good result.

LOTS of knives coming back to New Zealand - thanks to many - which will be coming up in further posts.

Well - with a heavy HEAVY heart I said goodbye to our friends today.
The generosity- man.... in a way love ( sorry to weird ) - that this group of friends share - and I felt this so much in the midst of Charlie - Joanne, Ron and Pam, Harry and Nancy, John and Donna, Sarah, Paul, Jack, Dave ( Knowtracks ) Lyle and Jan, Russell, Ryan and his lovely boy, Tim, Jeff etc
PLEASE - please forgive me my friends because I know I have missed some names - it is 3.52am and Paul and I have been travelling for a few hours already and now sitting at the Airport.

Then there is Bill and his son William- Christine and Patty and the amazing close unit Staff at GEC.

What a life trip for me - to be repeated in the next five years.....
I'm struggling emotionally leaving my friends- their support/ friendship/ amazing generosity- was so heartfelt - that I believe that we at Traditionals share something quite unique.... this comes back to the installation of Traditional respect that Frank and Gary work SO SO hard to maintain- and keeps the amazing Traditional morality at its best.
I'm so thankful to all of my friends - to whom I spent an amazing time with - and can I say I feel very close to you guys- this can only be explained I guess if you were there.
Take Care everyone- PMs and posts to come in the near future.
Once again a heartfelt thank you to everyone at 2017 GEC Rendezvous :)

So glad you were able to spend time with everyone Duncan, and hang out with Paul, I know it must have been the trip of a lifetime for you my friend :) Safe travels home, you and everyone :)

Nancy and I are in a motel room this morning and preparing to head to Holland , Michigan to see some family so I do not have much time . We had a great time meeting some great people . I always have at least 1 or 2 knives in my pockets to TOTE , now I also have to TOTE 1 or 2 of Nancy's . She has even read the latest in this Thread . New thing for her . Will wax poetic when we have more time . I will just say this about the Rendezvous .
I have been to many places and events . Even Chinese Worm Wrestling championships ,
and Mexican Goat Ropes , but I ain't ever seen anything like this .

Yes! Thanks, everyone. :)

Thanks so much for posting these-- it's good to see them (again).

Just a note, Charlie's SFO Barlow (seen here in red bone and black wood) will have an etch. These two were so hot off the cookie sheets, that last detail was not yet applied!

I have made it home safely my friends, pictures of the spoils to come as well as things that arrived while I was away from home. It was a great time meeting everybody, both new and old; Charlie and Joanne, Lyle and Jan, Paul and Duncan :p:D (just kidding fellas), Ron and Pam, Old Engineer (Harry) and his wife Nancy (you hang on to those knives for her!) , knowtracks (Dave), Sarah, Russell (rusty), jprime , Bill Howard, William Howard and his wife and children, Patty, Christine Tucker, Randy Bell, the slip joint army crew, and every one else. Terrific fun was had at the proceedings both at the factory, the resort dinners and bar sit downs, the queen show, and the picnic. Luckily this year the rain didn't hassle us as much and it was certainly cooler than last year . Terrible shame about the speeding ticket on the way there :( which more or less cost me the rendezvous knife I guess but other goodies were bought and gifted. However despite all the knives that changed hands, I am most grateful to sit down with everyone here once more to enjoy a meal and drink, kid about my love for decently new single blade knives. ( I can still hear Duncan's voice saying "that'll go just right with some polishing wont it Jack?":D) As we discussed during breakfast with Charlie, its about the people for me. The knives are knives but its the people that make these gatherings worth the trip out there. Hope everyone has returned safely or on their way home safely with all their loot!

Nice shots of some VERY. Nice knives there John.
It was great to see them being made " in the flesh" so to speak.
I know what you means John - both a Paul and I are shattered - tried to sleep on the plane trips but aaaaggghh.
It will take me some time before so can post photos of knives etc by the time I get home to NZ and recover from that trip :oops: as well as wait for my Knives to arrive when I post them away to myself :D

Nice post Jack my friend - you matey are a fantastic guy and we loved hanging out with you, man that S & M you got on the last night was something else.
