Yes to Charlie.
A way of giving back

I would like a swayback in D2 with ebony if not micarta or jigged bone, 3 1/2"
Warnie main, pen second
Main blade the mark side
Satin finish not polished

Hey, I can dream.........LOL

Sticking with Barlow. Carbon blade, bone scales, spearpoint with long pull and swedges. I can handle a swayback with a wharncliffe as #2 choice. Thanks for the priviledge of the vote! It gives me quite the warm fuzzy.....

I like UA a lot, but he has never posted in the Traditional Forums so the nomination was quite confusing.

2006 went to Spark.
2007 went to Jackknife.
2008 went to Cockroachfarm's son Shaun (I miss Holger dearly.)
2009 ?

Awright you guys!! I just caught wind of this nomination business (I should read more carefully!). I am embarrassed but grateful for those who have spoken for this.:o If it happens, a number 1 would be nice, but I would politely decline having you guys pay for a knife. I know some guys scrape it up to afford knives, and I wouldn't feel right making it more expensive. Let's just leave it there!!
Thank you for considering this, and whoever you decide on, God bless 'em!
At this point, I would like to nominate Gus, who actually has done some work around here, unlike my lazy self  ! :D

I am not accepting a nomination, until I get off a dime and buy a digital camera and then I will have to think about it. :D.
Any work involved here is an honor, due to the quality of folks who frequent this forum. I know Elliott feels the same way and to be honest, there really is no work or very little done in our little sub-forum.

Charlie, you are getting no. 1. Those who want to chip in are welcome to do so and the rest will be taken care of.

This is just a way for us as a group to say thank you.

I voted swayback, but whatever is fine with me....

Charlie, is A-ok in my book, and very deserving of that #1 knife.

Glenn

I agree the Charlie should get #1. I am a little concerned about the number of people voting. I only saw 64 votes, if that is an indication we may have a small group this year.

Actually I would be concerned if there were more votes. When it gets down to orders I guess there will be somewhere between 50 and 60 knives. We had a tough time getting to 50 last year, if I remember correctly.

I voted "other"

I am in love with the Arkansas Hunter. It's been a while since I have seen one but I think it's a Case-Bose Collab.

Not sure (at all!!) if it's called something else or it's proprietary................cause I am a slipjoint newbie!!

Gus,

Help me out here if you recall. Is 50-60 folks about the same number of members we had for the 1st year Traditional Forums Knife, 2006 CS Ring pattern too?. Just curious to kind of track this thing as it goes along.. :)

Thanks,

Anthony

All are nice choices, but voted for the Barlow. I concur with charlie receiving #1.
Preferably with a stainless or near stainless like ATS-34, 154CM, or VG10 blade steel,
clip (w/ swedge) with long pull main blade, warncliff second blade,
sawcut bone scales.

My second choice would be a swayback with a wharncliffe, same blade steel as above.

Barlow, any carbon steel, bone or micarta handles

And a roger ball for Charlie and #1.

Anthony,

First year was 45 knives.

So we are growing the number a little bit in the consecutive years. :)

Thanks Gus, much obliged.

Anthony

This was my first year in for the forum knife. I'll be along for the ride again this year. Since I have none of these patterns, I'll abstain from the vote and run with pack.

With a clip point and pen blade, but am not opposed to equal sized blades.

What I AM opposed to, and will do anything in my power to overrule is a SMALL knife....anything smaller than 3 5/8" closed....the "smaller is better" folkers got their way last year...change is good right?

I am also pushing for D2 or a premium stainless(ATS-34/154CM.....) have a call into Queen to see about a Swayback if that is the way the ball bounces.

I'm prejudiced against Case because the quality has really slid downwards, imo over the last 8 years, and had picked up about 8 within the last two years, all are sold, given away or on the block right now....IF the mighty roar of the masses speaks in favor of Case, I will defer.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I stopped by Canal Street today re. the above jack, but it looks like it's going to be a while before it's introduced. They're still trying to work out how to pin (or attach by some other means) that cap securely without it shifting. The old Schrade version was a solid sand cast piece, so this'll require a bit of work. N/S is what's giving them headaches. Definitely still in the drawing board stage, although the proto looks nice! Damned if I didn't forget to ask them about a barlow in the future though. I'm always so in awe going through the place that I forget to ask half the things I went there for to begin with!:grumpy::D Steven those choices sound excellent!

Eric

Steven, a standard Barlow is 3 3/8" usually, but with a pretty hefty handle. Not your optimum length, but maybe O.K. for you?

I have a concern, that the only ones producing a swayback are the nice folks at Case. My experience has been that they are not that "small order" friendly.
If we go with a pattern that is new for a given cutlery, the cost may be too high for us!!
While I would not mind a swayback as a second choice, the Barlow, now in second place pollwise, may be the only practical choice.
Comments anyone??
