Being it's an esee clip it's strong I'll see today at work but I actually have to take the boot off and pull the end of the clip out to remove it for fear of damaging the top of my boot in removal. I have a cure for that either way just haven't done it yet.IMHO, carrying outside the boot is a bad idea. It may or not be there when you need it. I have crystal clear recollection of a detective losing his backup gun when we were in pursuit of a perp. He had another gun, but stopped to find his ankle gun Fair, I suppose, not issue and he paid for it, and I managed the arrestt by myself I may be wrong - run and jump with it on and see how it works.
And so I gather that we are talking primarily about a staber for social wear, not a more utilitarian blade profile for camping or bushcraft.
Here in Texas, we may openly carry about anything except maybe a Katana. Other jurisdictions prohibit the wearing or mere possession of such a knife. Check your local retrictions.
I'm in West Virginia and actually have better knife laws than Texas. And so I gather that we are talking primarily about a staber for social wear, not a more utilitarian blade profile for camping or bushcraft.

To clarify in West Virginia you may concealed carry any knife and gun at 21 years with no permit. They made constitutional carry and made sure to include knives in the deal. The law also says no preemptions so no city or county can have their own laws to override state law.And so I gather that we are talking primarily about a staber for social wear, not a more utilitarian blade profile for camping or bushcraft.

No I definitely didn't plan on self defense. The knife above is so I can still carry a fixed blade without the hassle of taking it on and off at work for to my tool belt.Thank you all for those explanations of knife laws in WV.
I guess the main thought in that post was observing (or asking) that the knife type being talked about is for defense rather than as a utility tool.
