Gifts for a marine

By "help", do you mean donations? You have NO idea what people here have already given to members of our armed forces, whether family or friends or anonymous strangers.

Please don't suggest we have an obligation to wave our generosity around for whatever reason.
I can't believe Esav's comment.
He reminds me of the people that spit on me, and yelled baby killer when got off the plane, in "74
Really? I think you may be taking it a little harder than the comment really is. It seems pretty tame and factual.

Esav, why don't you donate something? I'll match it dollar for dollar.

AR: I am glad to see that there are still people in this world that display patriotism, generosity and genuine care for fellow countrymen. I appreciate your service to this country and I am sure many of our fellow forum members do as well. The knife community is a patriotic bunch, for the most part. Your service, the service of this Marine and countless others does not go unappreciated. You gave a very generous gift to a man that will be fighting for our country. This reverberated with myself and others I am sure. Please do not spoil this gesture by using this thread to "call out" other members for their supposed lack of patriotism. Many have given to our armed forces in other areas and ways. Not all can give for every Marine, but all can (an do, if your are a tax paying citizen) support our Armed Forces and our government.

futurencswat, thank very much. I appreciate your sentiment very much.
I'm logging off, I don't know if I'll bother with this forum again.

I hadn't read the entire thread, Sorry! Your list is great and I also appreciate the generosity of AR and all the others here like him who donate to help our people in the field.

Teague, if you read the thread, I had already switched to a rat model4 and an endura.

AR fan, I and many others are truly greatful for the service you have done for this country and it's people. I am sorry that this thread has gone this way and hope that you will stay instead of letting this cause you to leave. I hope you decide to do what is best for you. Thank you for the knife. I'll let you know when it has arrived.

To anyone reading this thread, if you would like to donate anything, please let me know privately.

I am not asking for donations. I did not start this thread asking for donations or expecting donations. This thread started as me looking for what is best for my friend in the USMC. Let's keep this thread from derailing, please.

Spyderco Endura SS - $0, Thank you AR fan.
Leatherman Charge ALX $93.95
RAT Cutlery Model 4 $93.95
Fenix L2D $49.95

This is the current list. Any changes I need to make?

AR.....just some friendly advice. You need to step back, take a deep breath and re-evaluate the situation. You incorrectly interpreted what was said and you're way out of line.

Yeah, Blackhills. I stepped out.
But please understand, it wasn't for a good reason. I was attached to the 3rd ID, during and before the initial push into Iraq.
Every night I get to dream about the people who were blown to pieces, based on my call. I see their faces, their body parts.
Helping out our troops stay safe is on a whole different level then the average.

Hardheart, You need a good ass kicking.

AR, you need to settle down. Whether or not you like it, what the troops over there is, in part, allowing people over here to express their opinions freely. Esav's comment is correct, and it's not even CLOSE to how people reacted to the troops coming out of Vietnam. He did not even say that it was his own sentiment on the subject. He pointed out that the people here have already expressed tons of generosity, and that people should not feel obligated one way or the other.

By the way, Esav isn't responding because all it will do is flame whatever it is that is causing you to be so argumentative. He stepped out of the conversation so that it would not escalate, but apparently you don't understand that.

Sorry, I was thrown off by this apparently innocent comment.

Sorry I was thrown off by this apparently innocent comment.

What's incorrect about that statement? People here at bladeforums, along with the friends and families associated with its users, have already shown tons of generosity. And regardless of our past actions, no one here or anywhere else is obligated to donate money or items to people serving. People have the right to disagree with the war and the soldiers who fight it, to be completely indifferent, etc.

If that is the case, then thank you sir.
