Gone and done it!!!!

I've seen those auctions and they are misleading. Without a doubt, I'd want my money back. I hope it works out for you.
 
I'm more or less mirroring this thread over at USN and the guys from Strider are moderators for that froum so I really hope one of them guys get wind of the thread and chime in!!
 
Do you have any way to stop payment?
Does this guy have a negative history with e-bay?
 
Payment has went through at PayPal and his feedback is 100% out of 2400 or so sales! I really thought I was looking at a good eBay seller!
 
I've come to the conclusion that I'm gonna have to stop buying myself birthday presents, never works out!!

Sounds like he IS a great seller. He sold you a Strider for $700. I own 2 Striders and together they weren't that much. Did you get your money back or what is going on now?
 
If it has buyer's portection then just return it - what's the problem. It looks sucky IMHO.

Got a link to the auction (is that permissable) Esav? The terms are right on the page for heaven's sake. Contact PP (you said it had buyers protection) return it. If he doesn't return the $$ they'll take it from him.

In fact I'd go to PP & eBay "live chat with a Rep." right now and dispute it as misrepresented. Before he can skate with your cash. ;)
 
I have got to try to work it out with the seller if at all possible and then if we can't come to an agreement then I have to turn it over to eBay. It will then be up to them whether or not he misrepresented the item.

You're not behaving very pro-active about this. You need to pitch a fit with PP & eBay right now or enjoy your Strider knock-off. What a racket that guy has going on.

It definitely says "Custom" and not what it is "Stock SMF Customized". You should have this in the bag. Are you talking with Ebay or Paypal yet?
 
Yeah I was just on the eBay site, I don't think this is going to be a problem. The crazy thing is I don't even have the item yet. It just shipped out today. I just found all this out today when I was excited about my purchase and started posting up a few pics.
 
Hey boys and girls. BOY AM I READY TO CHIME IN RIGHT NOW.

I've actually bought and received one of these, but in SNG form. SAME GUY, as I had the same fight with him. Mine is done quite differently than that one, but yes, he is a sneaky misleading Bstrd. I didn't pay as much as you did, as I offered him less, and he took it right away. That should have been my first sign. I got the knife and was stoked as hell, then began to get the same impressions as you, and asked him about it, resulting in the same fight you're having now.

He said something to the effect of "I'm sorry that you choose to question my craftsmanship, as I've been working on knives for 25 years, blah blah blah, but if you want, you can return it for credit on something else." WOULD NOT let the money go. He's a duper. It pissed me off something awful.

Now, that aside, there are positives. It came with a nice lanyard with an Emerson skull, and he did do a nice job sculpting the G10 and anodizing the Ti side. In each of the body screws is a blue tritium vial that glows on both sides of the knife, which I'm very fond of. The blade pattern he calls "ravaged" and actually looks pretty good in my opinion, but I will say that the knife seems to take surface rust much faster than my SMF with the Strider tiger stripe finish.

I'm pissed and annoyed that this guy is duping people regularly, especially my BF Brethren, but if it's any consolation, he does do a good job. He also does claim that he honors an unconditional warranty that goes above and beyond Strider's (he includes the blade finish as well), and claims that he will get the knife back to you within the week. I don't know that I can trust him, but it all does sound good on paper, and I'm admittedly not unhappy with the knife.

I will still say to others, DON'T buy from this guy until he cleans up his act and stops labeling these as "Strider Customs" and starts labeling them as "Customized Striders." :grumpy:

I'll post pictures once I've cleaned it up.

I have a copy of the webpage with the auction saved in the event you should need it when dealing with Ebay. It clearly shows the wording to be misleading.
 
Well you should have no problem getting your money back. In the description it clearly says "Strider Custom SMF" when it clearly was not a custom by Strider, it was by him. I hate dealers like him. I had it happen to me dealing with black rifle parts once, never again. You almost have to dissect those descriptions to see what your really getting.
