GRAYMAN SATU Folder!! A BEAST!!!

How about using a bit of that to buy a nice, new Satu for your good buddy neuron to try? :D :p

I asked first Neuron! (but if either one of us scores some Striderco cash we'll split it okay)? :D

I like Grayman knives but can you type a sentence without an exclamation mark?

You've never been excited?!! Never got some really cool blades and posted 'em up?!!! Striderco is highly excitable!!!

NIce, that looks like an awesome overbuilt tank of a knife. I love the blade profile. Even looks pretty comfy in hand.

I am sorry Mr Hammer! I will try not to use exclamation marks from now on. I am actually thinking of buying a deserving member here a Satu!! (can i use an exclamation mark there?) It is awesome overbuilt tank of a knife! I love the blade as well. And it is very comfy in the hand. (wanted to use exclamation mark there but I held back) Next up I think will be a Grayman Mega Pounder.

 That certainly says a lot about the high regard you have for the knife (and for the forum)!

I am deserving. :)

if you want to buy a knife for an ex air assault/airborne infantryman who works as a bouncer to put themselves through college before the gi bill/disability kicks in then i am your man :p

seriously though i expect nothing from anyone and you have talked me into getting a grayman knife when i have the scratch. thanks for the info and keep posting pics and reviews. the kind of price they put on a ti frame lock is exceptional.

Any experience with the fixed blades? i cant really find any reviews.

Ive been thinking of ordering a Pounder (Grayman fixed blade). I ve read and heard that they re tanks as well. I believe there are quite a few being used right now in Afghan. Maybe a serviceman cud chime in if one of them reads this? If anyone does buy a Grayman, mention my post if u wud. im trying to get them to post on here. they arent really into the forums or any social networking now. Hey Hammer are you proud of me? Dont think i used an exclamation mark in this post!?

It was in the Army that I first heard about Grayman knives. One of my buddies had one; I thought it was a TOPS knife at first. Not sure what model it was, Mega Pounder I think, I wasn't a knife nut at the time so I just thought it was crazy that he spent that much on a knife. When we were cutting up tires for push bumpers on the HumVs I do remember his knife holding up much better than the SOG SEAL 2000 I was using. Though I have never seen it, an 18 series friend of mine says he carries a Grayman. Chris (the 18 series guy) was the first to tell me about Grayman, I am sure he is using the mess out of it in Afghanistan right now. I suspect, like most things in the Army, a few Special Forces guys started using Grayman, then the rest of us followed suit. Yup, you want to make a knife or piece of equipment popular in the Army all you have to do is hint that SF uses it.

Thats for sure, its no coincidence that surefire often abbreviates its logo to merely SF nowadays. The thing is that SF guys are given such a wide berth that they end up getting what works for the individual person. So your going to see alot of high end knives on SF guys rigs same as they are going to most likely have a kifaru or mystery ranch pack.

Got my carbon fiber Satu today!(Thats an exclamation mark for those that didnt know) Wow, a masterpiece. I am kind of speechless right now. And im trying to hold back my excitement bc I guess I get too revved up on here and go nuts with exclamation points?! Pics coming. :)

I spent some time on their site. They look like a good deal, built similarly to a Strider but not as expensive. I like that! I wasn't too impressed with the 1095 on the fixed blades, but the folders definitely caught my eye. Nothing wrong with the 1095 fixed blades. i just prefer the INFI or 3V on my fixed blades, but then I also pay out the yang for them.
Anyway, I appreciate you posting your discovery of this company and your knife. I'll definitely keep my eye on them. Prolly own a couple in a year or so. Thanks again for pointing them out to us.

Congrats! They only had a few of those left! Can't wait to see the pics! In the meantime found a pretty good review on youtube!

Mike the Founder / owner / operator of GrayMan knives is an private contractor with a life time of real world combat experience. A member of KM a not for profit mercenary organization who fight forgotten or so called orphan causes against regimes who engage in terrorism oppression and slavery. For over a decade he has dedicated his life training native Sundanese Spec Op teams and snipers in Sudan to fight against Al Qaeda who are exterminating all Christians in Sudan. Hence the Death To Al Qaeda on the spine of his knives or at least on his fixed blades. My understanding is the sale of his knives help finance that, as the SPLA is literally a rag tag army barely able to afford their own food.
Point of all that is his designs are based upon his real world experience and use of combat knives. What is field expedient in combat. His initial knives were for personal use. Than he made some at the request of his brothers in arms, than strictly for deployed military and eventually the general public. The reasoning behind his use of 1095 is it is what works best in the field, it can take a razor sharp edge has excellent edge retention and is easy to sharpen in the field with whatever is at hand even a rock. My understanding that is why many if not most of his fixed blades have a chisel grind. I dunno if that is true of his folders. It is easier to just sharpen one side of an edge. If you want a polished beautifully finished Cryogenically Treated 154CM or S30V Grayman knife in I believe he designed some MercWorx knives including the Equatorian Chili. An awesome knife, just the sight of it coming at you would put the weak kneed into a coma. If I recall correctly Mike took one to Sudan with him. It held up and served him well with extraordinary edge retention with hard use. But in a short time the finish looked very much the way Grayman knives look leaving the shop and when it came to sharpening it was nightmare. As super steels require a diamond or ceramic hone to effectively sharpen. Anyway that is my understanding of why 1095 is used.

Good vid on the fixed blade pounder!! See if i can figure this out?

Let me show you. Add the symbols after the "=" sign of the YouTube address in the middle of the code in my subject line at the top of this post and that's it.

Looking at a YT video displays the symbols in the address bar and you copy them and paste them in.

Easiest way is to hit "Reply With Quote" for any of these posts with a video embedded. In mine you'll see the whole code, at the top of my post! :D
