GRAYMAN SATU Folder!! A BEAST!!!

Gotta be some Grayman owners out there?!! The Pounders look pretty freaking tough!! Share please!!??

Did you catch my edited post on the previous page? Greatly simplified. You might find some Pounder reviews on Google.

Mike the Founder / owner / operator of GrayMan knives is an private contractor with a life time of real world combat experience. A member of KM a not for profit mercenary organization who fight forgotten or so called orphan causes against regimes who engage in terrorism oppression and slavery. For over a decade he has dedicated his life training native Sundanese Spec Op teams and snipers in Sudan to fight against Al Qaeda who are exterminating all Christians in Sudan. Hence the Death To Al Qaeda on the spine of his knives or at least on his fixed blades. My understanding is the sale of his knives help finance that, as the SPLA is literally a rag tag army barely able to afford their own food.
Point of all that is his designs are based upon his real world experience and use of combat knives. What is field expedient in combat. His initial knives were for personal use. Than he made some at the request of his brothers in arms, than strictly for deployed military and eventually the general public. The reasoning behind his use of 1095 is it is what works best in the field, it can take a razor sharp edge has excellent edge retention and is easy to sharpen in the field with whatever is at hand even a rock. My understanding that is why many if not most of his fixed blades have a chisel grind. I dunno if that is true of his folders. It is easier to just sharpen one side of an edge. If you want a polished beautifully finished Cryogenically Treated 154CM or S30V Grayman knife in I believe he designed some MercWorx knives including the Equatorian Chili. An awesome knife, just the sight of it coming at you would put the weak kneed into a coma. If I recall correctly Mike took one to Sudan with him. It held up and served him well with extraordinary edge retention with hard use. But in a short time the finish looked very much the way Grayman knives look leaving the shop and when it came to sharpening it was nightmare. As super steels require a diamond or ceramic hone to effectively sharpen. Anyway that is my understanding of why 1095 is used.

Thank you for the history! It will definitely make me take a closer look come next knife time.

Think Im gonna order a Pounder and film myself hacking apart pigs and big water jugs and stuff. No one has done that before. :D

You might want to see someone professionally and discuss the filming of yourself hacking pigs apart?

No warranty on their folding knives???The Satu is $375, there are lots of big folding knifemakers out that will stand behind their knives regardless if its their fixed or folding knives. Why make a knife with extremely thick super steel and sandwich it between extra thick titanium scales and put altogether with large hardware and not to expect people to use it other than what's stated purpose in their warranty. I have yet broken a knife just by using it for cutting purpose only. Don't get fooled by its monsterous appearance look at who stands behind it. Bogus knifemakers. Look elsewhere.

Your welcome, Knowing who Mike is made a difference to me. Something satisfying about knowing a knife just like yours has sent Al Qaeda to allah and that your knife was made by the hands that sent them there.

No doubt that the Pounder will do a better job and you'll look better doing it. I never got to use my Mega Pounder, my bro swiped it, took it to Iraq before I even got it out of the box. No doubt it would take heads clean off and send em flying through the air. The best way to describe it is BRUTAL, it looked felt and is BRUTAL. No finesse about this blade at all. Just plain BRUTAL meant to do one thing and one thing only. Destroy anything in its path. My wife spent my knife budget on My New Michael Igo Knife But as soon as I save up enough I'll be getting another Mega Pounder.

Let me show you. Add the symbols after the "=" sign of the YouTube address in the middle of the code in my subject line at the top of this post and that's it.

Looking at a YT video displays the symbols in the address bar and you copy them and paste them in.

Easiest way is to hit "Reply With Quote" for any of these posts with a video embedded. In mine you'll see the whole code, at the top of my post! :D

Hey Chuck, there is an easier way.

When you hit "reply to thread" a series of buttons will appear above the dialogue box. The second button from the right looks like a roll of film. Hit that button, and copy and paste the URL to the video you want to embed and click OK. Boom, you're done. Should be quicker and easier for you. :)

From Graymans site about their warranty for folders! Hey Knife22 you shud spend a little more time before you blab nonsense about knives that you could probably never afford! You probably buy your knives at your local chinese thrift store! lol Knife22 :jerkit:

GRAYMAN FOLDER WARRANTY

Your Grayman folder has been designed and built to be tough. We have used thick, strong components designed to make it as strong as possible and still fit in your pocket. As much as we hate to say it, any knife can be broken. The blade on your Grayman folder is made from premium S30V steel heat treated to HRC 58-60. Your folder was not designed for use as a prybar, screwdriver, throwing knife or anything other than a cutting tool.

If you do break your tip we will take a look at it and see if it can be reground (no charge), or we will give you a price for a blade replacement.

Stainless steel means “stain less” so we can’t warranty against rust, it will be up to you to maintain your blade properly.

Other things not covered:

- Disassembly
- Modification
- Wear and Tear

If you receive your knife and hate it for any reason, send it back to us within 30 days in its original condition for a full, prompt and cheerful refund.

Free sharpening anytime. You pay postage, and we'll sharpen her up and send her right back. Send your knife in with delivery notification or tracking number and give us a heads up to expect it so we can turn it around to you pronto.

Seems pretty fair to me!!

I cant believe there are brilliant, friendly people like this Knifenut22 that actually spend their time doing this on websites!! Sad life. lol

First you say they have no warranty. Then you refer to whats stated in their warranty. Think the only BOGUS thing here is you pal!! LOL

Well, I hate the edge they put on, but I find myself really wanting a dua. It's not pretty, but it just looks like a knife that I would be proud to show off after it gets all scratched up.

Is their website the only place to order?

I think all orders are done on their website! If you dont like the edge send it to Richard J after you get it and he can put a killer "normal" edge on it! Mention my name when ordering, they ll prob hook u up with some treats!!

I sharpen knives "professionally" also. Check out my YouTube channel. :)

I will probably ask for an unsharpened blade. Thanks for the info.

ETA: I put quotations around professionally to indicate that I don't like using the word precessional, not as a jab at anyone else. :)
