Gso-4.7

Believe me when I say I feel your pain bud. :) I know you've been excitedly waiting (and holding out specifically) for a 4.7 for a long time. That is definitely the model I am most excited for as well, and I would have bought a second today just in case it would have arrived before my preorder first!

I think you'll find the wait was more than worth it. Totally exceeded my expectations. It's everything I ever wanted from the 3.5, the 4.1 and the 6 condensed into one nicely proportioned package balanced nicely with some weight.

Digging the Cru Forge V too, no issues with surface oxidation in my foggy coastal climate. Regular stropping and a light coat of oil on the edge has kept it very nice and shiny :)

Without getting in to specifics, I just wanted to say that we do send out 1000's of knives a year.

I guess I didn't consider all of the different models that you all built each year before I came up with that number. It would be nice if some other companies followed your quality control etiquette because I've had quite a few high dollar sprint and special run knives in the past that were mediocre at best.

I think you're right, the 4.7 should be right in my wheelhouse. I like a smaller blade for most field-dressing work, but for quartering big deer and elk I like to have something stout to make the reach through all the ligaments in the joints, especially on large elk. The 4.7 should be perfect for that.

I just know there is a lot of confusion about just what size of company we are. Some people call and ask for the sales department as though we have 100 employees all segregated into groups. Other people think we are only listing 3 knives a week and that's why they sell out so quickly. Just saw an opportunity to let people know that we are actually somewhere in the middle.

Hopefully people will get the point! I had guessed you were in the 1,000+ knives a year but I remember seeing stacks of 5's and 4.1's last year on the Instagram page. I completely forgot about the 5.1's, 3.5's and Necker 2's. I'm probably forgetting models also!

Since it is now the end of April, just curious as to whether anyone has received their presale 4.7?

I have not heard nor seen any confirmed reports coming from any "Super Survivor's"(those among the first in line when it comes to ordering)here on BF, IG, or FB other than LarsL as of today.

I am in the same boat, I respect what Survive is doing, but maybe it's time to hire some help-This is beginning to get old

I'm just hoping for some seconds to go up on Monday. Fingers crossed.
Really? No offense to you RUNIT, but what about all the customers who have been waiting for their pre orders and pre sales that have yet to be shipped or received?

There's no reason for factory 2nds to be sitting around collecting dust or clogging up the benches while the other factory 1sts are being built.

What about them? their knives are coming, and in the process of those orders being fulfilled factory seconds are created. you should also be encouraging seconds because that means more firsts. all about perspective.

S!K commonly lists 'seconds' for sale before shipping out 'firsts', since they find (or accidentally make) the 'seconds' as they are putting the 'firsts' together. For example, Guy is sharpening a blade ... and a cat jumps on his head ... or he is distracted by Ellie sashaying across the room... etc., and he marrs the edge of the knife = 'second' :) Someone else getting a 'second' does nothing to slow your 'first' or mine. Don't worry, they'll come when they come. We're all good

There would not be ANY factory seconds available if it was not for the Pre-Orders to get Survive up and running-All about Perspective! Web Site says 4.7's will ship out through April, it is now April 29th-Nothing

I can certainly understand the frustration which has built up with those folks who have been waiting for a very long time to receive their orders. in fact, although I am now really gravitating toward ordering a new (2016 model) GSO 10 just have had to really hold myself back from ordering the GSO 10 plus the GSO 12 which i also really wanted and of which the window was closed on Monday 4/22. The $$$ is really not the issue but my impatience is the primary culprit.

That said, let me propose another scenario as to why offering the 2nds is of fundamental importance to the survival of Survive! (no pun):

Before I do that, let's just start with the premise that we all wish for this company to stay in business because in our collective opinion, they offer the best products for the best prices and most also agree that Survive! could easily increase their prices bu up to 20-25% without losing much of a customer base and in fact if the price increase went into both expansion and hiring more staff (both shop smiths and front office) that may even smooth out the kinks with their operational process. The reason I brought up the price markup (ultimately it will be S!K's decision but they strike me as blue collar folks who wish to remain true to their core fundamentals at the expense of their own financial struggles) is because we see their knives selling for up to 25% markup on here and up to 50% markup on eBay. If we see these pricing trends, so will they (at S!K) and believe me when I say that no astute business person likes to leave $$$ on the table.

Now enough of meandering and let me get back to my thoughts as to why it is very important for S!K not to sit idle in order to just churn out the most perfect knives and to let the Ugly Betties (their terminology, not mine) to stream into the market:

There are people like me who research on places online such as YT and on here who are interested in the current state of affairs as far as Co goes and their currently offered products and NOT how things were in 2011, 2012 or 2013! The reviews on S!K products on YouTube are already mostly old and stale. Releasing more knives to newer customers will enable some to do their own newer reviews and IMHO that is a great PR way for Survive! to increase its client base.

Again, please understand that in no way shape or form I am encouraging S!K to forget those who have invested their $$$ with this Co for months on end in the favor of newbies who will be happy with the 2nds at a much more diminished waiting period, but simply shining the light on another important marketing aspect for business viability. Also at the end of the day, any dinged and damaged inventory which is not liquidated and collects dust, will cause financial peril if not dealt with in a timely manner.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry but I'm just going to have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I don't recall seeing this done on any past runs this early so why now. I would think that there should be some sort of obligation to get out the pre order/pre sale orders first and then put out the 2nds towards the end or last. Besides, how hard would it be to set these 2nds aside somewhere within the shop so that they are not collecting dust or clogging up benches. Just my opinion and I'm sure many other's would agree.
