There would not be ANY factory seconds available if it was not for the Pre-Orders to get Survive up and running-All about Perspective! Web Site says 4.7's will ship out through April, it is now April 29th-Nothing
Exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I get what you're saying because I'm in the same boat. I guess I'm just used to things happening and causing delays because it happens all the time with my work. Shit happens is the best way to explain it.

I'm sorry but I'm just going to have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I don't recall seeing this done on any past runs this early so why now. I would think that there should be some sort of obligation to get out the pre order/pre sale orders first and then put out the 2nds towards the end or last. Besides, how hard would it be to set these 2nds aside somewhere within the shop so that they are not collecting dust or clogging up benches. Just my opinion and I'm sure many other's would agree.

Sorry if I sounded like a dick. It wasn't intentional. I see what you're saying, but I just don't see any harm in letting the 2nds go out earlier than ours. I always loved the anticipation of gifts before Christmas so that's probably why I'm a little more patient about the 4.7 coming.

To both SharpThoughts and TommyGun:

I certainly understand your frustration and I do not wish to come across and apathetic and my post as a proponent of dealing with their 2nds in no way, shape or form was intended to be dismissive of your feelings and I understand you motto that if there were no orders placed for presales and preorders, there would be no 2nds!.

I would like to encourage Survive! to change some of their wordings and strategy on their website to become more in line with how RMD and Busse deal with the preslaes and preorders. Just charge a nominal $ when orders are placed and then charge the full sum when you are within 4-14 weeks of finalizing the order. I do understand that this may (I'm sure that it will) create cashflow issues but also you do not wish to be dealing with chargebacks. Gauging by the friendliness of the most of the folks on this site and sub forum, plus your social media followers, most of your customers are in lock step with your cause and struggles, but as you expand your operation and your product range, I can only suspect that the chargeback headaches will increase with those who get frustrated with looong waiting periods.

How much time do you imagine it takes to put a knife in a box and ship it, instead of just setting it aside? As I understand it, most of the knives are completed before a final qc check identifies them as factory 2nd.

Your dissatisfaction with delivery times is understandable, but whinning about someone getting a factory second before enough factory first knives are identified for you to get yours is just juvenile.

I have not heard nor seen any confirmed reports coming from any "Super Survivor's"(those among the first in line when it comes to ordering)here on BF, IG, or FB other than LarsL as of today.

To be fair, there are a lot of SURVIVE! customers that are not active on the internet. There are days we ship a lot of packages out and don't hear anything about them. There are also a number of knives here that are just waiting for another knife in the order to be ready before shipping. They are going out.

I am in the same boat, I respect what Survive is doing, but maybe it's time to hire some help-This is beginning to get old

Why is it always hiring more people? The delays are not because we need to hire people, they are because Guy has a standard for finishing and sharpening. There are some delays just because the machines need some TLC. Either way, hiring people is likely to just add an expensive person sweeping clean floors (unless theey can thoughtfully answer emails).

Ellie, are you reading this? STOP putting dates in :D

I know, but when I don't put dates in I get angry emails asking why we bother to put up a production schedule that has no valuable information or saying things like, "I checked the Production Schedule but can you give me more specific information?" We are never going to make everyone happy.

Dr Jenks, I would call it juvenile as it is too strong a term! I've learned not to judge unless I am imposed with the same exact scenario. I think that their frustration is not without merits.

Ya, I know see the Website has mysteriously changed to say 4.7's are shipping out in regular batches instead of Through April!!! Whatever

I'm just thinking about all the loyal customers many of whom are repeat customers who invested their money and time with this starter program. Let's keep them first is all I'm trying to get at.

Just to be clear, we did list the GSO-5.1 Factory 2nds while we were still working on the GSO-5.1 preorders.

We don't just set them aside because then we end up with boxes of knives taking up the whole shop. With preorders, there would never be time to do anything with them and they would be forgotten. Which would equate to thousands of dollars worth of inventory just sitting on the floor. They are mostly done, so why not just get them the last few steps rather than keeping that money tied up? Especially when those funds are going toward increased production. It's easy to say, just don't forget about them. But I can tell you that we have a couple boxes of old spec knives that we had planned to sell when we had some down time. Down time never came and now those are scrap.

Sorry but you are completely missing the point of what I have stated.

It did say April. I changed it because I knew we weren't going to be able to have every single order out in April. The Production Schedule is there so people know where we are at, at that time. We always said there was no guaranteed delivery date for preordered knives, that never changed. We will have them out as quickly as we possibly can.

I just want to assure everyone that this is not fun and games for us. We aren't letting the knives sit on a shelf just to see how angry people will get. I would love to be able to snap my fingers and have these in everyone's hands. Surprisingly enough, we really want you to have the knives you ordered. But we cannot lower our standards just to get them out the door faster. Most people would be so angry if they were expecting a GSO and received a knife that needed sharpened right away or had a light spot in the finish or some other problem.

Couple of boxes of old spec knives just waiting to be sold for scrap???? Ellie send them my way anytime!

I can appreciate that, I have supported you and Guy from the beginning, I know how hard it must be starting in a new location-I respect that immensely-I have never previously had any criticism of the Survive Brand-However I would no longer post the dates when a knife that people have been waiting for over a year on the website, and if a knife I had waited for showed up not sharpened or had a spot on it, I would send it Back!!! I realize it is not Fun and games for you and Guy, success does not come without a Price! Continue to support your efforts and wish you continued success.

Yeah, I guess I could have phrased it a bit more delicately. [emoji1]

We live in the world of information technology and logistics. It shouldn't be too difficult to put that in place. Your order number is 5500, we are currently processing orders 4000-4100 and we are shipping roughly 50 a day.. Eta: 3-4 weeks

Word! I sent a handful of ESEEs back to Amazon because of the same issues and they threatened to close down my account and I've been a member since 2005!!! I had to write them an email to explain as to why I was dissatisfied and that I was not abusing their return policy! In my books, a dull knife upon arrival = DOA ;)
