You sent 10+ knives back to be resharpened? My goodness, man. I've found that simply washing most scales, g10 or micarta, with a little soap and water brings them back to new. Gotta get the gunk out of all the nooks and crannies is all.

Not really sure what your question is supposed to mean. RE cleaning I mention doing that a few posts above yours.

I insured the CRAP out going out and thankfully Guy and Ellie did the same coming back. And yes I was hourly/daily checking the shipping. So yeah I get pretty antsy when they are in the mail. I lost a knife to theft by a USPS employee last year. Fortunately it was insured but it still sucked. Anyway Yes it was a really great gift AND I was really surprised at how much I really like the 4.7. The gift that keeps on giving!!
Just curious, how did you know it was theft and not simply lost in the mail?

I got the box from the post office it had a slit in the side. The knife was too tightly packed/packaged to fall out, someone had to put their hand in the box to take the knife out. The post office came to the same conclusion and paid the insurance. It was a $400 knife too.

Just checking in here. Have many of these been received by blade forumites yet? How far through the order backlog are we now?

One. There is one that got to someone who ordered in March of 2015. The rest have been going to folks not on social media who I'm guessing also ordered in March. As far as I know no April orders have gone out yet. We'll see more getting out later in the summer hopefully  [insert fingers crossed emoji here]

"... going to folks not on social media..."

You think? I'd venture to guess they just aren't shipping yet, except the preproduction CruForge-V, etc. I'd think it remarkable to miss anyone with social media in this age... wouldn't you agree?

I think they're just working on the their production flow in stages, and that they're trying to be more efficient. It's nearly impossible to do all stages at once with a small team. When I think of Guy running around from station to station, I get dizzy... OK, exaggeration. But I can see him being laser focused
... he would have to be, with so many stages of so many knives in production, right?

I came to the conclusion you quoted me on with a post from Ellie awhile back about another model. I do get what you're saying so maybe it's just my wishful thinking but if the production schedule says "shipping out in regular batches" then I figured the team was shipping some batches and we just never heard about it from those receiving them. I mean, they must have gotten out more than five 4.7's since Christmas, right? The production schedule has said 4.7's have been shipping since February, I figured there had to be some truth to that.

Again, I have no doubt they're busy and working long hours, I just know we haven't seen the 4.7's here yet.

SN is referring to a comment Ellie made the last time we were wondering out loud about 4.7 orders. It might be earlier in this thread, can't remember off the top of my head, but I'll take a look and see if I can find it.

Congrats on that jimpless 4.1 BTW!!

I don't believe it was dishonest on Survive's part to say shipping in regular batches, because I think that was the intent. I just figure we'd see them popping up on FeeBay, Instagram, Flickr, etc. if they had been shipped. I think the shipping portion of the production schedule is largely a thing of the past... I don't believe it is accurate at this moment in time.

Thanks, brother. I didn't even realize it was jimpless when I ordered it. I was at a stoplight. Quick glance at Cole's post on FB. "I'll take it" was a reflex. :-)

Lol. Bonus score then! Awesome blade.

Here' the quote I was referring to:

To be fair, there are a lot of SURVIVE! customers that are not active on the internet. There are days we ship a lot of packages out and don't hear anything about them. There are also a number of knives here that are just waiting for another knife in the order to be ready before shipping. They are going out.

I remember that... but dang... hard to think "regular batches" is an accurate description of what is happening. Not arguing... I just think they're not quite at that shipping stage at this moment. I'm as anxious as the rest of you though. Good vibes. Positive thoughts... and yes... fingers crossed emojis.

Whoops, were we talking about 4.7's when that came up? I thought maybe 5.1's, but I have zero faith in my ability to recall details like that :D

I don't think anyone is calling the team dishonest, but if their focus was going to shift to cruforge and micro texturing and Monday sales, why keep saying that 4.7's are shipping for 4 months straight? When they take a week off from Monday sales is that just to catch up on Monday sale orders? These are largely rhetorical questions to make my point, I'm not trying to be pushy with details!

Between all the facets of the internet, I would have expected to hear about it if there were large numbers of knives going on, but I secretly hoped all the orders before mine were being fulfilled under the radar and that my order was just around the corner. Oh well. Whatever they're busy with in the shop I know they're bustin' tail for all of us true believers.

No I get what you're saying, it's all good. I've been watching hard, too, even been checking fleabay for 4.7s, and I nearly never buy there. Heck, I don't need to be buying anything right now. I may actually have to step away for a bit, the 4.7 bug has bit me hard.

The 5.1 makes more sense with respect to the "regular batches" quote.

In terms of probability... I'd say it's highly improbable that 4.7s are going out in any significant numbers and missing social media.

This knife is much anticipated. I think the micro texturing, etc, is a significant reason for possible delay. I'm sure interested in that. I also picked up somewhere there were delays with sheaths.

Some day soon, we are going to be using the heck out of our 4.7s, with smiles we can't wipe off our faces, thinking back to these times of longing. :-)

Oh, sorry bud, ya it was earlier in this thread on the 4.7s, so I assumed that's what you were referencing. You know me, more often with the :foot: than not.

Thanks all. Feels like more of a trickle or unannounced starts and stops than regular shipping at this point.

One sold as recently as last week on eBay, but I am willing to bet a Thousand$ that it was a Factory 2nd which this seller clearly is not in the habit of disclosing as also evident by his other listings. No one receives 3-4 Factory 1st in that story amount of time, not even Guy himself :D

I was wondering if people who purchased factory seconds might try to sell them as firsts. Are the seconds marked as such? From what I have read, it is difficult to find flaws in Survive's rejects.

They are marked under the scales near the lanyard hole. Just a small indent is evidence of hardness testing and does not denote a second. A small, drilled, partial hole indicates a second. You must remove the scales to see it, but it's truly much ado about nothing. The seconds are still fully functional, carry the same warranty, and are excellent tools. I have firsts and seconds of several knives from Survive. Side by side, I can rarely tell. Generally the flaws are things like grind marks on the spine, faintly etched logos (common in older knives), or in some cases uneven bevels... I've never had one that appeared uneven. Comb the threads... you'd be hard pressed to find anyone who has ever been disappointed with a second from Survive! Knives. A common anthem is, "their factory seconds are better than everyone else's factory firsts." Buy with confidence.

Edit to add: the seconds are not rejects. Anything substantially below Guy's standards is not sold. Seconds have minor, often imperceivable cosmetic blemishes... not anything that affects function. If you try hard enough, you might actually mark your blade with use... and then who could tell? :-) It's hard enough seeing an issue with a fresh blade. Cheers!
