Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thank you, Dennis, it's a protected area and park only two blocks away.

Nice! So you have pubs and bakeries across the street, and a park a couple of blocks away....you sure picked the right place to move to!;):thumbsup:
Good Morning Guardians
Nice shot, John!:cool::thumbsup:
Great photo, Dave!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
That’s a great shot, no pun intended, of your Stag HHB! :thumbsup: I hope you enjoy your shooting today! I’m really needing to get out and dent some primers! It’s been way to long! :thumbsup: :D
Thanks, Ron!:p:thumbsup:

It's certainly harder to get some shooting in now that we live in town.:(
Hope all you Guardians have a great day! :) :thumbsup:

Great photo, Ron! Love the covers and the pantina is coming along nicely!:cool::thumbsup:
Incredible! I don't know how you fit in so many quotes Dennis! :cool: :) :thumbsup:
My wife says I need to talk to people more...well I guess it's bottled up and then this place gets the full brunt of it!:rolleyes::p
I used to write for a magazine years ago, and every now and again, this guy would send a piece in. He was an English guy, but had spent years looking for some hidden gold in New Mexico! I don't know if he ever found any! :rolleyes: :) Hope you were able to get to the range my friend :) Nice Choice of Lambsfoot :) :thumbsup: I imagine Uncle Jake has a piece (or two) tucked in his pants! :D
Well that's cool! Must have been a fun thing for you to do!:cool::thumbsup:

A lot of folks have been through New Mexico looking for gold.
Jake's father, John, is the one that settled there in Southwest New Mexico in the late 1860s. We've had family working in the copper mines there ever since. Somtimes they would hit some small areas of gold, silver and turquoise, but not much.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chino_mine
My dad was born there when it was a hill, before it became an open pit. My great grandfather was a constable at the town.
This copper and turquoise was mined there, some my dad gave me years ago.

We had a great second breakfast, and then headed out for a short walk of a few miles, along the River Colne and the Huddersfield Canal, in excellent weather.

Unfortunately 90% of the pics of my Lambsfoot were out of focus o_O

HkFVb48.jpg
Looks like a great hike, Jack!:):thumbsup:
I’ve had a pretty productive Saturday. Woke up and mowed the lawn. Then finished up and painted my new sling shot ( catapult for the UK fellas:p) catch box. It’s not pretty, but it will definitely work. Of course my barlow was along for the ride. :D

Nice job Jon and company!:thumbsup::thumbsup: May have to build one as well!;):thumbsup:
Looks like a cool book, and of course a very cool Lambsfoot, Kevin! I went from the Boyscout book to the Army books, but haven't seen yours.:cool::thumbsup:
My catch box is made from an old 55 gallon drum. This photo was a pain to stage, as the Lambsfoot was being a brat and not wanting to pose with the slingshot ;)

mgysxXZ.jpg
Very cool use of the barrel, Mike!:):thumbsup:
Slingshots have changed since I last owned a wrist rocket!:eek: Need to upgrade soon.
Happy weekend Guardians!

You have a great idea there, Dave!:cool::thumbsup:
Out in the woods today with my lambfoot companions:

Good morning, here in Ermesinde after a rainy day Sunday started with the sun shining.;):thumbsup:

Your HHB looks like it's enjoying the day, José!:thumbsup:
Sounds great Mike, I'm thinking of getting another. I only have this one, I deliberately bought one that looks like a child's toy (some very nosey folks in the UK)! :D :thumbsup:

That's a pocket full of fun, Jack!;):thumbsup:
Good Sunday morning to the Guardians. Still picking corn, lambsfoot along for the ride. Pardon the dust and dirt...

And the Gabon Ebony Waynorth has joined the flock. Very happy to get this one.

Two great photos, Fred! Glad the harvest is going well!:cool::thumbsup:
Since I have to clean the stove, I thought I might as well fry something first! :D ;) :thumbsup:

Looks good, Jack! I've been on an oatmeal, yogurt and fruit :rolleyes: :thumbsdown: Ready for some bacon and eggs!;):thumbsup:
Somebody gave me a lot of variously colored carrots.

Looks like your Rosie is going to get a workout!:D:thumbsup:
Good Morning Guardians
Moving my son back to college today.
That means driving to the Bay Area again. :mad:
Then we move into the hotel tonight, staying for a week.
Man, a busy weekend for you, John! Glad you had your survival tools handy!:cool::thumbsup:
Happy trails! Glad you've got your compass with you.

Iq48cmg.jpg
What a great way to start the day, Rachel! Hope you had some milk or coffee on hand for the cookies! I gotta pick up some biscottis now!!:D:thumbsup:
Well, 07:15 AM here at the house. Getting ready to put the coffee on and start a new day.

Man, your WCLF is looking good, Ed!:cool::thumbsup:
What the heck. Another picture just because it's Sunday. Buffalo Horn covered "Big-un".

And a grand shot of your handsome Horn Lamb!;):thumbsup:
While I don't post here nearly enough, I sure enjoy seeing so many wonderful pictures from everyone!!!
Here are my two favorite contemporary Lambsfoot models, I might not be alone with this selection...
And along with most of my fellow Guardians, I also enjoy a good adult beverage now and then. :)

Nice! What other tool would you ever need?!:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Prepping to run some errands with my brilliant, beautiful wife, I was selecting the knife to accompany my ever-present SAK when this beauty called to me.

A great looking WCLF to have by your side!;):thumbsup:
Thanks Jack, and very cool frame! I have a couple from them as well.

But today, felt like going with one I made a little while ago.

Wow, nice!:cool::thumbsup:
Your stag HHB is a handsome devil, Dennis! :cool::thumbsup::cool: )I hear knives take on characteristics of their owners.)
Thank you very much, Gary!
(If that's the case, it's going to get old, fat and sassy :p)

Great to see you here my friend :) That's a nice collection to go with your favourites, I'll have to see if I have any for you :) :thumbsup:

I’m showing the same photo and totin the same Lambsfoot two days in a row! ;) I’ve got more apples to slice today and this Bigun handles that task very well! Y’all have a great day! :D

Also enjoying getting to know this 2 blader. Pretty heavy/chunky, but rides well in the pocket and is very sturdy. Came as the dirtiest Lambsfoot I've received, but once cleaned up I have to say it's the best made I've had so far. Very well put together! :)

Very nice Mike, I didn't know that firm was so well known. I often carried a Milbro slingshot as a kid, and got one of those 'wrist rockets' when they first came out, but this is the first slingshot I've had in years. I like it's simplicity, but find wrapping the bands a bit fiddly :D I need to get out and practice a bit more, at one time I would have just gone up to the local park, or out in the garden, but they'd be calling a SWAT team for me here these days :rolleyes: That's a beauty that you made, well done :) Glad to hear you're getting on with that two-blade from Wright's :thumbsup:

They are very solid and well put together. I've got two of them and as you said; they do carry well.

Beautiful lambfoot and slingshot collection. I want to try a two bladed lambfoot, I’ll add it to my to buy list;). Most of my traditional knife collection are multi blade. Nice work on the sling shot, you did a great job on it. I honestly didn’t realize there were so many Guardians interested in sling shots. It seems a lot of “knife” people are outdoorsman/ natural lovers as well. :cool:

Me neither :) :thumbsup:

Thanks for the compliment Ed. :) It’s exactly the way it came from Wright’s, except for some some darkening due to normal use. I got it from our friend Jack Black Jack Black . It’s a second because of a crack that has been factory repaired on the mark side butt end. Being Pere David Stag they’re mostly smooth antlers from my limited experience. It’s a fine knife and certainly one of my favorites! :)

I never bought many seconds from Wright's, maybe half a dozen, but the ones I got had only minor cosmetic flaws. I even got this double-bolstered model :)

Z9CDen8.jpg

I would like to give my heartfelt thank you to a fellow Guardian who pm me with a wonderful introduction, tips, information and resources into the world of slingshot as well as a generous offer to send starter package.
WOW TY Mike !!! @Crazy Canuck !

Here is my slingshot from my childhood, it's about 36 years old I think :)
My cousin and I made two, painted his orange and mine blue. The leather for the pouch was from an old shoe we found in a pile of garbage in and empty lot :)

L44Qe1H.jpg

Well done Mike @Crazy Canuck :) Nice that you still have that one from your childhood Dan :) :thumbsup:

Dan and Jack, I'm totally flabbergasted that our little feathered friends are drawn to human hands holding lambsfoot knives! :eek::p:thumbsup:

Thanks for your encouragement, Jack. :)

I was temporarily puzzled about what sort of sorcery you were doing, Greg! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

With regard to the shield question, I'm sure I'd find a tasteful cloven hoof shield to be quite compelling! :thumbsup::thumbsup:;) But my sense of aesthetics doesn't always match that of others.

Great photo of your AC, Harvey! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, and Cheers, Jack! ;):thumbsup::cool:

That pair of lambsfoots should help ease any inconveniences as you're temporarily uprooted, John! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: I hope the remodeling is masterful and sticks to schedule (and budget)! :)

Fascinating tidbits of information, Greg! :cool::cool::thumbsup:
(I had a question or two that I thought you might be willing to investigate, but now they've dropped totally from my memory! :mad::(:thumbsdown:)

Sounds impressive (and exhausting :rolleyes:), Dan! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
Congrats on a big job, well done!

Thanks, Dennis. :)

Yeah, I think the midnight flight out of Bengal is called Red Eye of the Tiger. ;)
Your stag HHB is a handsome devil, Dennis! :cool::thumbsup::cool: )I hear knives take on characteristics of their owners.)

Great pic of your lambsfoot pair!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

You're VERY nice to your grandkids, AL! :eek:;):thumbsup: When I go into my local bakery and ask for chocolate chip muffins, they usually tell me something like, "We got cranberry walnut today; take it or leave it!" My wish is certainly not their command!

THIS photo is definitely NOT out of focus; what a great shot! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: I'm glad you enjoyed your outing.

That horn lambsfoot is quite irresistible, FBC! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Mike and @JaxBaron, you've got some appealing "wrist rockets"! :cool::cool::thumbsup: I think if I were to take up slinging shot, my catch box would have to be a "double wide"!

Couple of lookers, Barry!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Congrats, Fred!! :):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Your stag is stellar, Rachel! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

ED and Neal, when open, I think those jigged bone WCLF knives are probably the best looking knives on The Porch!! :thumbsup::eek::thumbsup: (I always use one of those double-ended bottle-openers with the triangular can-punch to open my beer at home. :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Haven't found anything else as efficient. :))

Thanks Gary, and nice to see Lam Jack again before he departs for a while :) :thumbsup:

I wish I had found that book when I was a kid. My fort building skills would have been greatly improved. :D

Thanks, GT, she has a little wicked streak too. :D

Just to clarify Kevin, is it Woodcraft & Camping by Bernard S Mason? Yep, them's pointy knives! :eek: :thumbsup:

What gets me it’s that I always need seeds in my hand, I have to bribe them .... but Jack can do it without them seeds !!!:D

:D :thumbsup:

That pic took about 10 seconds to set up I'm ashamed to say Dan! :D My girlfriend bought the vintage Chinese toy from the market, and I borrowed it :D :thumbsup:

Thank you Ron, I got distracted halfway through writing that post, but meant to add that while I only had a few seconds from Wright's, they had one guy who used to knock on the door once a week and ask to buy them, and some of the dealers bought them too. While I was quite happy with the ones I had, I believe that some of these seconds were sold on dishonestly. I am pleased that Michael Elliott has taken a decision to no longer sell any seconds made, they'll either be put right, or they'll be scrapped.

Thank you very much my friend, that's a great-looking Big 'Un :) :thumbsup:
