G'day Guardians, early afternoon here, and I am just back from helping my mate out on the market :) It started out cold and wet here, but is now a pleasant sunny day. Fall, or Autumn as we generally call it here, is definitely here though. I live on an old street in Leeds, a wide tree-lined avenue, and the leaves are definitely beginning to fall. A number of the trees are Horse Chestnuts, and at the moment, you definitely don't want to walk up the street without a hat for fear of getting hit by 'conkers'. When I was a boy we played a game with these inedible nuts, and would go miles to find a few. Today, the kids don't pick them up, and there are hundreds already covering the road and pavement.

I picked up the smaller nuts yesterday while walking on a nearby street. I saw a load of what looked like pieces of turf littering the pavement outside a restaurant, and stopped to see what they were. The owner of the restaurant came out to speak to me, and told me that in the four years she had been there, it was the first time they'd seen the strange husks. I had not seen them before, and took a few photos, and a few of the nuts to identify them. I think they're Turkish Hazelnuts.

I was just sipping a beer last night, when I heard a massive thud upstairs, and thought something large must have fallen over. When I went to investigate, I found nothing, but discovered this 'ghost-pigeon' this morning o_O

Hope everyone is having a good day. I'll be heading out again later, as I'm being taken out for Thai :) Carrying this Alfred Blackwell again

No, the snowstorms hit much harder out in the open foothills/Prarie. This one is coming from Siberia and sounds like a biggie
Predicted to hit the South the hardest, even reaching parts of Northern Montana as well. It will be a mess for a few days then back to normal :D

We are under a winter storm watch this weekend. Our house is at 4900 feet elevation so for us it may well be sleet and snow. Dang!!!!! I better get something ready to go on the tin, wood shed, roof! I've forgotten where you're at Dave.

Thanks. Based on the Map you and I are going to suffer the same storm - you more than I.
lol, thats what I was thinking it's a real shame as there are still a lot of trees that haven't turned color or lost leaves, which means there will a lot of broken branches.
