Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

@Jack - Those chestnuts are a fond childhood memory of literally “chestnuts roasting on an open fire.”

Good Morning Guardians.

Wonderful photo Harvey :) Sadly, those Horse Chestnuts are inedible, a shame the Victorians didn't plant Sweet Chestnuts instead, I have to go miles away to find some of those

My dad worked in a large tool-making factory, but bearing in mind that he couldn't even manage to change a light-bulb in the house, it was unrealistic to expect any help with my project  I've searched for a replacement for the Mason book, and for a Kephart, before, but copies have always been very expensive. I managed to get hold of a facsimile re-print of Mason's book though, and there seemed to be quite a few copies of Kephart's book available. Thanks for the heads-up, I've just ordered a copy of Clyde Ormond's book too, I just hope I'm not going to get crushed to death by the books in the 'to read' pile towering over my bed! :D Great pics too Kevin
I have always found tools interesting and more recently tool making has became of great interest. It is just as deep of a ribbit hole as knives and knife making for sure.
You might want to pin a note to your door that states " Look under the books." just in case. ;)

Great!
I see a leather project coming up!:cool::thumbsup:
Thanks for all the information, Kevin!

Fantastic! Thanks, Kevin! Seems handy!

Good preparation reading for the apocalypse. :D

I picked up the smaller nuts yesterday while walking on a nearby street. I saw a load of what looked like pieces of turf littering the pavement outside a restaurant, and stopped to see what they were. The owner of the restaurant came out to speak to me, and told me that in the four years she had been there, it was the first time they'd seen the strange husks. I had not seen them before, and took a few photos, and a few of the nuts to identify them. I think they're Turkish Hazelnuts.

That Blackwell Lamb is a good'n .

We are under a winter storm watch this weekend. Our house is at 4900 feet elevation so for us it may well be sleet and snow. Dang!!!!! I better get something ready to go on the tin, wood shed, roof! I've forgotten where you're at Dave.

Ed, I hope the weather spares you and dc50 dc50 Dave any damage.

Totin' the '18 today.

Thank you kindly, Jack. Miles away...yes, but when you watch them roasting, and then get the warm paper sack in your hands, on a cold, snowy Winter’s night and smell the delightful aroma, and you’re a wee lad, well that’s Heaven.:)

Me too Kevin :) My dad was a machine-tool fitter at James Neill Tools (Eclipse) for 30-odd years. I don't know what he was like at work, maybe he was completely different, but I have rarely met a man who was more clueless and incompetent with his hands!

I always enjoyed that episode as a kid! :D Thanks mate :) That looks like a healthy snack :)

The chestnut sellers will be appearing on the streets here soon, but I would rather gather my own if I can :)

Really nice John :)

It's not so bad. It will start cooling a little in a few weeks. It's not hot like Yuma or Vegas. It only usually gets to 100 degrees or so most summers here on the coast.

Ramrodmb Ramrodmb - Thank you Mark.
