Certainly a lambsfoot should be a good chestnut-slitter. I bought some chestnuts a year or two ago and forgot them till they went moldy. Maybe this year.

I was surprised by a pair of Mormon missionaries who were young women instead of blond boys in black suits. Clever of them to be stressing their geneological chops these days. Oh no, we won't try to convert you. Got to admire their pluck.

Me too Kevin My dad was a machine-tool fitter at James Neill Tools (Eclipse) for 30-odd years. I don't know what he was like at work, maybe he was completely different, but I have rarely met a man who was more clueless and incompetent with his hands!

I always enjoyed that episode as a kid! Thanks mate That looks like a healthy snack



The chestnut sellers will be appearing on the streets here soon, but I would rather gather my own if I can

Not mine I'm afraid Harvey, there are usually a few of them in most town centres here (less than in the past though), so I will have to try and get a better pic when they start to appear again, probably in a week or two Beautiful photo my friend

I know we have all joked and commiserated with Dave dc50 , who always seems to be the last to get any form of delivery from over here. I'd advise you never to order anything from Italy Dave! A friend of mine went on holiday to Naples at the beginning of April, and sent me and a few other friends postcards, they arrived yesterday - posted on April 3rd! I could have walked to Naples in that time!
