Good Evening/Morning Guardians
The electricity may be off for a few days for us, not sure how much I'm going to get to post once my computer battery dies. I'll go ahead and post my usual daily picture and see what tomorrow brings. As you can see, the patina on Skoll is starting to come along.

Cambertree Cambertree Chin, outstanding setting for your lambfoot! Your knife looks well sharpened, unlike most non-vintage ones I see on here looking like the untouched factory edge and/or bevel. Don't get me wrong, they are all beautiful works of art!

IMG-1574.jpg
Thanks very much, Natchezz.:) I do like a sharp knife, and I must admit I’m a bit OCD about not carrying a new one until it’s sharp enough to whittle the proverbial gnat’s whiskers.

In fact I’ve been doing some informal collecting of micrometer measurements of old Sheffield knives’ behind the edge thicknesses, and most of them were ground extremely thin, so I figure it can’t hurt to mimic that kind of edge geometry.

(And that’s with old knives which have already been well sharpened over their lifetime!)

That’s a handsome Hartshead too BTW, and I always appreciate the graceful lines of those smaller Lambsfoots.

Chin, old Ironsides has outstanding character, for me its the poster boy of what a user lambsfoot should look like :cool:
Cheers Dave, yes I love my ol’ ebony Lambsfoot as you know, but Ironsides is just a bit more of a good thing in every way!

Your picture makes me want to pull out my Ironwood SFO and use it. Nice to see you checking in, Chin.
Chin's picture of his well-loved Ironwood SFO had me thinking of how nice those Ironwood knives look with some miles on them. Up until now I've babied mine and haven't really used it, preferring to keep it new looking. But, since I have the Hartshead in the safe, I see no reason to keep the Ironwood new any longer. I am going to make it a point to carry Skoll for the rest of the month of October. After all, Halloween is coming and the Wolf wants to howl!!!

In my pocket... Sorry for the shiny pic, I'm on the way out the door.
Thanks John, great to see Sköll again - what an amazing piece of timber that is.

And just the pocket knife to carry into our brave new world:
;)

But seriously, I’ll be looking forward to seeing some patina developing on Sköll.

That Ebony WCLF of yours makes me sigh with admiration every time I see it! Nicely done Ed and great to see you enjoying it, John!

I sanded the edges off my Ironwood as well. I appreciate that clean, sharp edges are generally seen as a sign of skill and precision workmanship, but I also prefer a more contoured handle.

Cambertree Cambertree - Great to hear from you and to see your Ironweed Lamb in the great outdoors.
Thanks Harvey, and it’s a real treat to see your sumptuous photographic art again! Lovely knife too, my friend.

Great to see you here pal, and those photos are great, Ol' Ironsides has some real character :)
Thanks mate, I appreciate all the efforts you went through to get these wonderful knives into our hands, every day!:thumbsup::)

Great country. I'll have a guess, looks like around the Yarra Glen area, bet you have got a lot of underground mutton there.:p You will have to start getting some patina on your Lamb Foot Dark Jigged Bone from Waynorth Cutlery. Got some good patina going on mine.
Hey mate, good to see you here. That’s a good guess - it’s actually out the back of Ferntree Gully, on the way to Lysterfield Lake.

Yep, you’ve got a good eye. There’s a deep, wide valley between the foreground and background, and I’ve spent many a dawn and afternoon hunting underground mutton and Reynards on those far ridges, over the years.;)

Yes, I certainly do need to get some patina on that Waynorth. The primo Lambsfoots seemed to come thick and fast this year. I still feel like I’m just getting to know Ol’ Ironsides! My beautiful Hartshead and Waynorth examples sit in pride of place, in front of me on an old carved hardwood chest as I write. I’m still no farther than taking them out of their slips frequently to ooo and ahhh over them like a monkey in 2001: A Space Odyssey!:D

Good morning Guardians.

Wow, Mark! Every time I look at this thread it seems the standard of photography has reached new heights. That image though is incredible. At first I thought I was looking off the edge of a pier into the reflections of a mirror still, skyblue lake. Very well played, my friend.:cool:

Also: Cello Dan, I love your Walk in Nature series. I have many favourites, and they never fail to make me pause and appreciate the moment. Thank you, my friend.

Josè: My word, that Michael May custom piece is just amazing! What a wonderful piece of timber, and that long bolster with the Portuguese coat of arms is one of the nicest ‘Barlow style’ bolster motifs I’ve ever seen! That’s truly is an heirloom quality piece, my friend.:thumbsup:

Well, the upside of having been a delinquent from the Guardians thread for a while :(, is that I’ve had time to build up a good catalogue of new Lambsfoot knife pics!

(Also, thank you to those who made kind comments from my post a few weeks ago. GT in particular: I owe you a fuller answer to a question you asked about the flora of Australia, my friend.)

Dave @dc50 - your tasty soup pic, reminded me of these pics I’d taken while out and about. One thing I love about Melbourne is the high standard of international food, due to successive contributions by new Australians over the years since WW2.

@Ramrodmb - Thank you Mark. You’re batting a thousand with another fine image.

Jack Black Jack Black - Here’s to your navigating through your busy week in fine fettle. Take 2 pints and call me in the morning.:) I’m just wild about those 2017 SFOs.

Good Morning Guardians.

Wow.... JUST.......WOW

Well....we all know that Chin's not going hungry ^^ :D

Cello Dan, I love your Walk in Nature series.
Thank you Chin !
I've been walking more in the last few weeks motivated by finding pics to share for the series :) and actually feeling stronger and with more endurance. Most days we go with my wife and kids for 6 km ( and once a while we may do 8 to 10 km).
The sun is setting earlier and earlier this days and old winter is around the corner, we'll try to keep active as much as possible and beat our Canadian winter.
Carrying my lambsfoot on my walks is now habit. I may carry/rotate other knives during the day but if i go walking it does not feel right unless is my lamb :)

My Missus made some flatbreads for me and my Ironwood SFO :D

Thanks pal, an excellent post, as always :) Nice to see you're still eating well my friend ;) I had a large bowl of Pho in Leeds market just yesterday, as I do at least once a week, and had a Thai Pad-Ma-Muang Him-Ma-Pam in the evening :) The accompanying Aussie Chardonnay went down well too ;)

Morning Guardians, all this good-looking ebony has got me wanting to carry some ;)

Big Rosie is looking good Ron :)

Good morning Guardians! Here is a fun picture of my new and very elegant HHB. Thanks so much, Jack!

LOL! :D Great pic my friend :)

I'd forgotten about these TEWs. Jack didn't like the long curve to the point, so I tried to reshape one of them.

Just personal preference Jer, I think you did a good job :)

Old Toffee-wings needs a chance to soar.

Looks like I can throw out the rest of those tomatoes and peppers pretty soon.

Speaking of curries, that's what I should do with my frozen fish. I don't much like fish, and what better way to hide its flavor?

Nice colours there, and it's great to see Old Toffee Wings :)

It's a Standard with Buffalo Horn covers today.

Hope you're having a good day Ed
