Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good Monday Morning Guardians
Mondays are reserved for staff meetings, committee meetings, PLC, and such (no students). My boss won't be in today, so it's a couple of very quick meetings and then back home. Not a bad way to start the week. :D
Chin's picture of his well-loved Ironwood SFO had me thinking of how nice those Ironwood knives look with some miles on them. Up until now I've babied mine and haven't really used it, preferring to keep it new looking. But, since I have the Hartshead in the safe, I see no reason to keep the Ironwood new any longer. I am going to make it a point to carry Skoll for the rest of the month of October. After all, Halloween is coming and the Wolf wants to howl!!!

In my pocket... Sorry for the shiny pic, I'm on the way out the door.

Are those knives SFO Knives by Jack Black Jack Black John? Both of the are lookers.

EDIT: OOPS, I see that the ebony one is a WCLF.

You can do it, John!:D

Half/Stop Half/Stop - That's not good and can be expensive. Here's a British Crown you can have to fix your tooth if need be. I don't know about the fit but it fits nicely with this L'll one.

Thanks Ed! I got lucky and didn’t have to spend anything today! :)

I'd hope you'd recognize the WCLF.
The Ironwood was the 2019 Guardian's SFO from Jack.
It is such a beautiful knife, I hated to use it. But that's going to change.

You can do it, John!:D
With support from the Guardians, I can do anything... Especially scratch up a knife. :D

Tank Lambsfoot Jack lol

Battleship even Duncan! :D

Thanks Jack! Charlie is a treasure as are you my friend! What I would give to be in attendance at that meeting. It would be mind boggling at the knife knowledge available! And besides, I’ve known Charlie for five years and based on my correspondence with you over the years I will say that you guys are cut from the same cloth. :D:thumbsup:

Jack your Needham looks like a very stout Lambsfoot indeed!

I'm very honoured my friend :) The Needham is a real workhorse

I’m off to the dentist this morning because I’ve got a crown that keeps coming off. :( I’m afraid I’m going to end up with an implant. I dread that because I know it will eat into my knife budget! I’m going to carry my Jack Black SFO Rosewood Hartshead Barlow.

Hope the Hartshead Barlow brought you some luck Ron, it sounds as if you got off lightly thankfully :)

:p Jack do you have A&W's over there?

I don't think so Dave, we have AW&S, but their service has been terrible lately! o_O ;)

Hey Guardians,

I’ve got a lot of catching up to do. ;):eek:

Just dropping in to say hello, and that Ol’ Ironsides has been a steady companion.:cool:

In fact, he’s been hogging the pocketspace so much, I’m still yet to get a good patina on the outstanding Hartshead and Waynorth Lambsfoot knives, which are patiently waiting in the EDC queue!:)

Great to see you here pal, and those photos are great, Ol' Ironsides has some real character :)

Be careful out there. Watch your step. ;)

What a great looking two blade Lamb. It certainly looks capable.

Trying John, it's not been an easy couple of weeks, I'm struggling to keep up with a lot of things!

Sounds good my friend, and that is a beautiful Waynorth Lambsfoot :)

Looking forward to seeing more of Skoll :)

I'm not sure I should let Lucy out for Halloween, or keep her locked -up! :D

Good morning everyone. It's this Jack Black Jack Black SFO Stag Hartshead Barlow today. What a special knife that Jack Black created for us.

Thank you very much Ed, it's great to see your Hartshead Barlow :)

I'd hope you'd recognize the WCLF.

I hope Skoll will age like a fine wine John :)

Lovely pic of your Hartshead Barlow Vince

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. That’s Needham Lamb. Is super nice.

@Cambertree - Great to hear from you and to see your Ironweed Lamb in the great outdoors.

Good Morning Guardians.

Thanks a lot Harvey, very cool pic of your Damascus SFO

Getting ready for the day. The cup is a gift from my daughter. I have never been to Hawaii while my daughter goes about once a year.

Nice :)

We're going to find out. ;)
The one thing I didn't care for was the sharp edge finish of the wood, especially at the butt end of the knife.
So, I took a little sandpaper to the butt end of the knife and smoothed out all that sharp edge. It feels better in the palm now.

It's only really food that puts a heavy patina on a blade, that polished finish will shrug off most use, and the etch should stay if you decide to Flitz and start again ;) I'm glad Skoll is more to your liking now, I like mine as it is, but it has to be said that cutlery apprentices don't always have the best teachers. Often they are governed by haste and cost rather than quality and excellence. This was something I tried to address with the Guardians knives, with elements such as the centred blade, the well-ground edge, the perfect swedge, the bolster, and the overall fine finish being specifically requested, and not something usually seen on contemporary Sheffield knives, where the status-quo is producing cheap second-rate knives unfortunately :(

Well, I think they got the message with these 2019s. They are well made and finished. We all appreciate the hard work you put into getting them made to order.

Great country. I'll have a guess, looks like around the Yarra Glen area, bet you have got a lot of underground mutton there.:p You will have to start getting some patina on your Lamb Foot Dark Jigged Bone from Waynorth Cutlery. Got some good patina going on mine.

Thanks John, none of the Guardians knives were a walk in the park, but for the most part, the Ironwood came out pretty spectacular on this year's. Of all of my SFOs, the only straightforward one was the Ashley's Choice, great stag, and the only slight defect, which I spotted straight away, was this one, mine, and I am still very pleased with it :)

Jack, I had this same problem with my Hartshead Barlow, but it was easy to solve.
Just use a sandpaper, some of the lower protrusion of the blade as shown in the picture and the problem is solved, because the blade goes deeper.;)

Thanks for the advice Jose, originally I had intended to take a little off the 'kick' (as that protrusion is called), but since I always carry the knife in a slip, in practice it hasn't bothered me. Maybe I will get round to it one day, maybe not

The Hartshead did bring me some luck.:D

Good to hear Ron! :D

More superb pics Dan :)

Morning Guardians, I am having a very busy couple of weeks, but trying to keep up :) I hope everyone's week got off to a good start yesterday. I've got to call in at the docs this morning for a routine appointment, and have plenty of work to get on with. Thought I'd carry this one today, my 2017 Guardians Lambsfoot SFO
