Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hello Guardians. I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. -14C and snow here today, so not straying too far from the house.

Thanks for the info Rachel, I scratched the blade of one of my knives with the diamond Sharpmaker rods. I tend not to use them unless I need to re-profile, as I hate that scratchy feeling as you run the blade down the rod, it feels almost as if you are scraping off the diamond coating o_O
I feel the same way about diamond hones. The instructions say to use them dry, but I prefer a little glycerin or soap to act as lubricant (and to avoid breathing in metal dust)
r8shell r8shell - I prefer a toothy edge. It grabs the material being cut and seems to cut better than a smooth edge which slides through a cut. It's probably just me but I always go for a sharp, toothy, edge.
A toothy edge does make a good cutter. We ordered pizza this evening, and it seemed like the pizzamaker barely ran the wheel thingy over it. No problem, I pulled out my trusty lambsfoot knife and sliced through both the pizza crust and the box underneath. :D

Great photo, Dennis. It's good to see you posting, and I hope the tests come out favorably. I had to google "capsule endoscopy" and found a documentary about the procedure: ;)
LOL, thanks Rachel! It was an...adventure! Heard a ton of jokes at my expense from friends and family!:D
I worked on setting a new bevel today. It looks a little rough, but is definitely sharper. The WorkSharp is a little awkward to use, at least on the left side, but I'm getting used to it.

That's looking good! I've yet to try one of those types of sharpeners, usually use a tri-stone or one of the paper wheel types. Always looking though!
Hey Dennis, mitch4ging mitch4ging , your living up to you BF name aren't you? ;)

Maybe time for a BF name upgrade - mitch4aging gracefully - and really show em how it's done. Hang in there friend.

Posts like those from r8shell r8shell "I had to google "capsule endoscopy" and found a documentary about the procedure: ;)" gotta make you laugh :D

Cheers, Ray
Thanks, Ray!:D:thumbsup:
I get called a lot of things...may have to change it out!

A little levity is always a good thing!!;)
Well I meant what I said
Thanks again my friend!
Great to see you here Dennis, and with a great pic, as always. Hope you're doing OK my friend :)
Thanks, Jack!
Working on it, better each day!
Marilyn was one of two samples I received for the 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot knives (which were produced in both horn and ebony). I had asked for some red-coloured horn, like this knife.

VZTa5WH.jpg

I'm carrying in my own Goldfinger today in the form of Marilyn :)

So Marilyn is a piece of history, but despite my request for 'Double A Side' horn, her pile side is plainer.
Some great looking horn (horn-o-plenty?:D), and Marilyn certainly sports some fine covers!;)
But I did get to visit the Anglo-Saxon church of St' Gregory's Minster in Kirkdale.

Looks like some incredible history to learn about, David!:thumbsup: Good looking companion to have with you!
Enjoying my Sunday Sausage Sandwich :)

Excellent thought for the day!
Good Morning Guardians
First it's off to the laundromat,
then it's home to finish up some chores,
then finally I will settle in to watch some football.

Sköll is looking in great form, John!:thumbsup: Such great grain pattern!
Hears to you, Jack!

Good call! Nice pocket full of mischief for a cold day!;)
I didn't have to use my Lambsfoot to cut my dinner. I had ice cream. :D
:D:thumbsup:
I just had some homemade apple pie!

All this great horn going on, I'm joining in with Big'un!

I've had some pizzas where I'm sure the box would have been better than the pizza.

Hope all went well with your "Fantastic Voyage" Dennis!! mitch4ging mitch4ging
Thanks for recapping a bit of your SFO history back a Zillion pages (it seems!!)!! Jack Black Jack Black

This thread races along at breakneck speed!!

Cheep Cheep!! I thought I was letting a baby chick into my Lamb herd!!?? This knife that follows
was in a "make any offer" pile at my knife club breakfast, so it cost very little!
Two days later, I was just now Coon-Fingering and Chicken-Eyeing it (heh)!!:D and it's great!!
It's an Eye Witness, 3 9/16", with some black "staglon" type handles, and hammered pins!
The blade is perfectly centered, and hardly worn, just nice and evenly patina-ed!! Nice snap open and closed!!
It needs a light honing, and it's going for a pocket-ride!! Cheep cheep!!:D:D

Around here we've been sporting our Poppies for a couple of days! Is that still the custom around where you folks live??

Yes, Charlie but this year our (VFW) allotment got hung up in the USPS and won't be in until tomorrow which of course is a holiday for the USPS so we won't get them until Tuesday.:(

I don't think it's common in the U.S., Charlie, but I like the custom. Gonna hit the sack now, but flying my U.S. flag in the morning.

My wife's older brother rode the "Lady Lex" Vince. Like me, he preferred "Bird Farms" (aircraft carriers) over the "Small Boys" (destroyers) although we were both "Tin Can" (destroyer) Sailors too.

Great pics! Can't remember if I've tried Talisker--I think I have and loved it. I drink more bourbon than scotch just because of the price.
Slainte!

I generally have a bottle of Talisker in Vince, and from what you've said about whisky I think you'd like it :) I can understand you going with bourbon though, I hope to be properly educated in it one day :)

Yikes! That's cold Mike! Great pic

Thank you, Jack! That Bushmills looks terrific and Marilyn is a fine looking lass, nice looking horn.

It's the first time I've picked up a bottle for a while Dylan, as I don't see it that often, but it's a nice drop :) Thank you for the kind words my friend, gorgeous pic of your WCLF

No pictures, as I was at the top of an extension ladder at the time, but my 2019 Guardians lambsfoot came in *very* handy as I was doing some home maintenance today.

This knife isn’t afraid of hard work, and I was very glad to have it with me.

Glad it came in useful, a Lambsfoot loves to work :)

I feel the same way about diamond hones. The instructions say to use them dry, but I prefer a little glycerin or soap to act as lubricant (and to avoid breathing in metal dust)

Me too Rachel, I much prefer ceramics or traditional stones. I've never tried lubricating diamond hones though, thanks for the tip

I wish I had a pizza for every time I've done that! :D

Have a great Monday!

Glad to hear you're keeping your spirits up Dennis, and thanks for the kind words :) Nice to see your horn Big 'Un :)

It's just past midnight on the East coast so on this Veterans Day, a tip of the hat to all Veterans.

Cheers Charlie :) Nice pick up there, I wish I could go to knife club breakfasts  I have a couple of those Taylor's myself. The black handle material has been used for a long time in Sheffield, and was originally a plastic called Bexoid, a cellulose acetate made by the British Xylonite Company. It varies between manufacturers now, but the Sheffield cutlers still refer to it as 'Bexoid' or 'Bex'. Great pics pal :)

Another great pic Charlie

Been longer than that here Charlie, where we call 11/11 Armistice Day

That's rotten Ed :(

My uncle spent some years on HMS Bulwark (I forget the name of his other ship)

Morning Guardians, hope everyone had a pleasant weekend :) Still raining here in Yorkshire :( Saluting our resident sailor Guardians with my 'US Navy' Needham Lambsfoot today

Hey thanks for bringing that up Charlie. I aways knew the Poppies started showing up around early November but I never knew the exact date until now. Word on Google says in Canada the Poppies make there first appearance on the last Friday on October and of course go through up to November 11 at lest.
