Good to see you here, Dennis. Your contributions set the gold standard.

Fantastic image, showing your JB SFO HHB. Hope things are going easier for you, my friend.

Thank you for the kind, if not slightly exaggerated comments my friend!:)

Just endless tests and procedures. Just finished up a capsule endoscopy yesterday, but hanging in there!;)

Been a beautiful day here, going to sit outside for a bit!

Great photo, as always, Harvey!:cool::thumbsup:

Great photo, Dennis. It's good to see you posting, and I hope the tests come out favorably. I had to google "capsule endoscopy" and found a documentary about the procedure: ;)
Nice pic, what's the fluffy white stuff?

I worked on setting a new bevel today. It looks a little rough, but is definitely sharper. The WorkSharp is a little awkward to use, at least on the left side, but I'm getting used to it.

:D:D:D
It is a precipitation in the form of ice crystals, mainly of intricately branched, hexagonal form and often agglomerated into flakes, formed directly from the freezing of the water vapor in the air.

Nice Rachel !, the shallower bevel is clearly visible  It's going to make a great slicer

Thank you for the kind words my friend, that's another lovely pic :)

Thank you, Jack!

"Big-un" with Buffalo Horn covers. Posed on the top of a wood fueled, cook-stove with the stove top reflected in the blade.

Pàdruig Pàdruig - The pictured knife was ordered from A. Wright mid-August. The tone/coloring/figuring is pretty nice but as you can see not spectacular.

This Standard also with Buffalo Horn was ordered mid-August and in this case they (A. Wright) put the nicer piece of horn on the Pile side and put a drab piece of horn on the Mark side - the side that of course should have gotten the nicer horn.

DJdZFdw.jpg

My opinion - Horn is hit and miss at A. Wright now a days especially since the end of August.

Thank you, Ed, for sharing. If I opt for horn, knowing it to be a gamble, I guess I'm not going to be overly concerned. I can either treat it as a potential re-cover project for myself or get put on Glenn's list again.

That is, of course, if the gamble doesn't pay off.

Cheers Guardians

That is one of my very favorite whiskies. I only have about two fingers left though, time to get another bottle soon. You are keeping good company with that HHB!

I hope everyone is having a pleasant weekend so far. I've got some nice Stag with me today.

Hey Dennis, mitch4ging mitch4ging , your living up to you BF name aren't you? ;)

Maybe time for a BF name upgrade - mitch4aging gracefully - and really show em how it's done. Hang in there friend.

Posts like those from r8shell r8shell "I had to google "capsule endoscopy" and found a documentary about the procedure: ;)" gotta make you laugh :D

Cheers, Ray
I may watch Fantastic Voyage tonight.

That looks delicious as well as being a nice colorful picture.:thumbsup:
Just need a little steak to go with it all... ;)

Thanks buddy, I usually serve those sherry-roasted peppers as a side-dish, but with the price of Lagavulin, I'm struggling to afford steak :D ;)

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Great looking image of your healthy repast.

Thanks Harvey :)

LOL! :D Your edge looks good Rachel, what angle did you sharpen it at?

I watched Goldfinger yesterday! :D

Morning Guardians, Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) It's been a quiet one for me, and while the weather is a little better today, I have some work in the house I need to do. Have a good Sunday folks :)

I'm carrying in my own Goldfinger today in the form of Marilyn :)

m4xZBho.jpg

Marilyn was one of two samples I received for the 2018 Guardians Lambsfoot knives (which were produced in both horn and ebony). I had asked for some red-coloured horn, like this knife.

The samples I subsequently received were these (Charlie @waynorth has the red-head)

But then I was told they had run out of that horn, so I received these two samples:

I thought the horn was too close to the horn on the 2017 Guardians run, and my instincts were not to proceed. However, there were still Guardians who wanted the knife, so I went ahead. The bolster on the final knives was different because by this point the cutlers had used the wrong bolster on the ebony knives, and also I wanted to differentiate from the 2017 knives.

So Marilyn is a piece of history, but despite my request for 'Double A Side' horn, her pile side is plainer.

So it had to come  ......The white stuff I mean. :D
Folks, do not let the apparent beauty and allure of the white stuff deceive you !!!
People always love the white stuff when it first comes every season. Many fret if this year we'll have a "white Christmas" or not.

BUT the white stuff is treacherous and evil  !
I do not like the white stuff !

Ok .. it's not that bad really :D

Jack Black SFO Hartshead Barlow

I LOVE the white stuff! What I don't love is the accompanying collapse of society, general wailing and hysterics and all round panic and inability to cope.
We usually don't get more than 1 inch which usually melts within 24 hours.

That red-coloured horn looks great; pity they couldn't do Double A-side for you.

Had an unexpected break up in North Yorkshire for a few days so took my rosewood to handle a few chores that never materialized. :)
But I did get to visit the Anglo-Saxon church of St' Gregory's Minster in Kirkdale.

Hope everyone has a great Sunday. It's wall to wall blue sky here today for a change so I'm heading out with my rosewood.

Thanks mate, well I PAID for a Double A-Side  Excellent pics, hope you had a great time :)

While carrying out some very long overdue knife-cleaning duties, I managed to stab myself with an old dirty knife  After cleaning the wound, and applying a large band aid, it still wouldn't stop bleeding, so I thought I'd give this stuff a try. Has anyone else tried it, it's very inexpensive compared to Haemostatic agents, and suitable for more people. You pour on the powder, and it forms a 'scab' almost immediately

At least I'm not getting 'claret' all over my morning coffee ;)

That looks interesting stuff; I guess only for 'minor' cuts? I bleed like a stuck pig so if I get cuts like that I usually use pepper or tumeric powder both of which make for quite good coagulants. Though if away from home I wouldn't be carrying either of them around with me.

Nipping in and out the garden and have been catching the Rememberance Service at the Cenotaph in London on telly, so I thought I'd post a more appropriate picture.

Remembering today all those who have served.
