Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Happy New Year Guardians
My kids music teacher was handing out calendars to support charities. They were many different designs. I picked this one naturally :)

Must be the Year of the Dog... another cutie.
Happy New Year, Vince.
Happy New Year, John.
The dog was rescued by one of my sons in Austin, Texas. After having her for nearly two years, he offered her to my wife and me. At first, I was a little reluctant--we had several pets already. But she is my constant companion. She's sitting next to me now, under a blanket (Chihuahuas like to burrow).

Happy New Year to everyone, it is already the 1st of Jan over here, time is 10.35 am. So i thought i should bounce the ball for 2020 with my lambfoot of 2019, thanks to 2 people for allowing me to get one of these special knives. Also added is my favorite fruit, Cherries are in full season over here. Hope you all have a safe and cheerful evening.:p

IMG_1694.JPG IMG_1700.JPG Decided that it was time to spruce up my ebony A. Wright for the new year: there was a chip torn out when the rear pin was drilled and the sides of the handles were somewhat rippled from over buffing when it was made. So, I reground the sides of the handle on the belt sander and re-buffed the bolsters etc. and rubbed in a little Swedish boiled linseed oil to keep the ebony from drying out. While I was at it I Simichomed some of the patina from the blade; my knives really have to earn their patina!
Yeah, as mentioned above, Wrights are not Waynorths and the fit and finish are not perfect, but now there's nothing about this knife I can't live with and it's just that much more mine! A very sturdy practical knife that's about perfect for everyday use. (Before and after pics!)

You did a great job. It looks fantastic.:thumbsup:

The 36 bus stops at the bottom of my street, and goes all the way from Leeds to Ripon. With its plush extra-wide leather seats and 'all mod cons', it's a very comfortable bus, and I guessed that today it would be empty, as were the roads.

The journey, particularly the section between Leeds and Harrogate, has to be one of the most beautiful in Yorkshire, and you get fantastic views from the front of the top deck. Today wasn't the best weather, but I still saw deer, red kites, and a heron. The pics I took are really shakey unfortunately :( One day I'll have to try and take a video as I was surprised not to be able to find a decent one online (most are bus-spotter videos which focus on the bus itself  )

I live on the north side of Leeds, close to the open countryside, and the beautiful Harewood Estate and Harewood House.

This is the River Wharfe.

By the time we got to Ripon though, it was raining :( This is the ancient market square.

The Cathedral.

Lots of old lanes and attractive old buildings.

As it was raining I decided to curtail my walk, but did stop to pick up a nice bottle of rum :)

Found this feller on the street when I got back (Teddy's aren't just for Christmas).

Great post, Jack! We never took a double-decker bus anywhere when we visited England, but I’d imagine the top deck is the way to go for a nice view. We did take a coach from Bath to Heathrow, but I wouldn’t say that’s a particularly scenic route (unless you consider the M4 or Slough scenic.) :D

Cool pic of your 2019 Lambsfoot John :)

You're very kind Ron, you've had that Big 'Un quite a while now haven't you my friend? :)

I entirely understand Greg, for some reason it seems to be almost impossible to get hold of good quality shipping boxes here, so I re-use what I can :) I didn't manage to get hold of any Sierra Nevada Celebration this year, first time in a decade :(

Thank you Harvey, you're very kind :) Stylish pic of Linus with your smoke :)

Morning folks, I don't know about you, but I'm beginning to feel that I'm stuck in a perpetual weekend! Saturday again, so I guess I better carry some stag ;) Have a good day folks :)

My brother and sister-in-law brought some Christmas crackers when they came to visit. Our fortune telling fish said we were all passionate.

After all the rich food the last few days, it's nice to have the simplicity of a sausage sandwich for lunch :)

Looks good, Jack! We made some British pigs-in-blankets for Christmas. (The American version consists of small sausages wrapped in pastry, which are good, but I think I prefer the British version wrapped in bacon.) :D

I may have asked you this before, Jack, but have you watched Detectorists? (I remember discussing films and TV series with you at one of the pubs we visited in Sheffield — might've been The Bath Hotel — but I can't remember if that one came up.) If not, you should check it out. It's a good show, and features some fantastic shots of the English countryside. (The show is set in Essex, but I believe it was filmed mostly in Suffolk.)

Here’s some Lambsfoot content, since this is the Lambsfoot thread. ;)

That looks great. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Happy New Year to all you Guardians. Don't forget to eat some black eyed peas tomorrow!

I don't know if it's a Southern tradition or just a Texas thing, but you have to have black eyed peas for luck, and cabbage for prosperity on new year's day.

Good morning Guardians, and a very Happy New Year to everyone! :) Wishing you, and your families, all the best for a very happy 2020 :)

I tried posting just after midnight here, but wasn't able to bypass the Spinning Wheel of Frustration unfortunately :( Hoping to catch up soon
