More old posts, as I try to catch up. But the next two weeks promise to be quite busy for me, so as the old song says, "They say that catching up is hard to do!"
That is interesting! It probably proves that my interaction at BF has slowed considerably.
You did take a substantial sabbatical, Joshua, but I'm glad you're back!

That's been my perception too GT, good to have the data

Glad to be of service, using my "numerical superpower"!

It seems to be a Hartshead kind of day, so I put mine in pocket.
Those rosewood Hartshead Barlows are handsome knives!

That's why we're baseball fans!

5K Qs
- I agree with yours and Jack’s conclusion that the pace has eased. The good news is that it’s easier to catch up when days or hours

have been missed. Especially for you, one of the Maestros of epic post, GT.
Good Afternoon Guardians.

Harvey, I'll confess that I feel less stress in my life with the Guardians thread moving at a slower pace!

And speaking of catching up, replying to your Cake Post on Fat Tuesday seems to be a happy coincidence!

Oh... Would you look what arrived in time for Wooden Wednesday? My first Big 'Un, and in ebony too!
Surprise package arrival from my friend and yours, Mr.
Jack Black
Thank you, Sir!
Congrats on the Big Ebony, Mike!!

3 cheers to Jack for his legendary generosity!

I decided to take a page out of Jack's book and go for a hike.
My little town of Loomis is known for a few things. It's the gateway to the Sierra's railroad line. It has many citrus orchards and fruit sheds. The trains would load up fruit here in town and transport it south to San Francisco and north to Nevada. We were also the state capital for a short time. But mostly we are known for our granite quarries. This was a major granite producing area at one time. I decided to take a hike around one of our local quarries, it was quiet and peaceful, and the weather was amazing. Of course I had my Lambsfoot with me.

...
Thanks for the informative quarry tour, John!

Are none of the quarries still operating? Do they just sit empty? Some of the defunct quarries (actually "gravel pits") around my area have turned into "swimming holes", but that use may actually be illegal in many cases.

Since moving to Minnesota two years ago, I’ve been preaching the “embrace winter” philosophy, but I’m not sure my wife’s fully on board.
I’d really like to take up ice fishing, but I‘m not sure I’d know where to start!
...
...
That’ll work, although you might get a better yield with this method:
I can just imagine what your first ice fishing experiences will look like, Barrett!

Had to shed a tear when I sent the "Extraordinary Linus" off to his next host in Nebraska! Here he is posing with his new friends for one last photo. We'll miss you Linus!

Fine flock of lambs you have, Ben!

Thanks for your hospitality to Linus (and vicariously to us Guardians)!

My region can grow some great crops in the summer and great icicles in the winter.

Cool photo

, but please be careful! Icicles like that can put your eye out!

Good Afternoon Guardians. Venture Lamb Foot.
Congrats on your newest Venture, Harvey!

Thought I would bring this lovely piece out, it's been awhile.
...
Also snapped this pic of my Desert Ironwood Guardians Lambsfoot taking in the last bit of sun for the day.
Dylan & Barrett, thanks for sharing photos of your striking Ironwood lambsfoots!

The saga of my lambfoot knife from Sheffield continues. I won't bore you all with a re-cap but this knife is going in for some surgery. ...
I hope you can get it fixed up the way you want it, Bill!

Good Morning Guardians
I'm looking forward to the weekend. Both of my boys will be home for a visit.

I hope you guys had a great time together, John!

Good Ol' Jake
Bakes a chemical cake!

I was thinking of offering to take my mate's lad, but I'm going to check whether or not he's read
Call of the Wild first

Much as I like film, the movie industry have ruined plenty of good books over the years, and are certainly not averse to changing historical fact, let alone a classic novel

Please let me know how you find it John
I don't ever think I've preferred a film over the book on which it was based, for those cases in which I experienced both formats.

Pork fried rice...It’s what’s for dinner.
Pocket Pals - Crookes and Brookes Lamb Foot and Seecamp .32acp.
Pork fried rice and a vintage lambsfoot! You're living the high life, Harvey!!

Had a good lunch and chat with btb01 on a sunny winter day. Great picture of the ice houses by the way.
Two blade Lambfoot models are not very common. While I have shown this model in the past, I hadn't with both blades open.
This is a mid 20th century stag handled model from Joseph Elliot of Sheffield.

Admirable 2-bladed stag!

A little "Wood and Steel"!

I hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Couple of fine photos of your lambsfoots, Dennis and David!

Thanks a lot guys, setting off for York early worked out pretty well. It's always one of the first places to flood here, but they are very well prepared for it, and really take high river levels in their stride. The river had been dropping for the past 24 hours, and the rain and wind held off until later in the morning. In fact the low sun was so bright over the river, that I had a job looking at it, let alone getting a decent photo, some of my pics look like they are taken at night!

The Viking Festival seemed a bit low-key this year, compared to in the past, but the traders were located in one of York's many impressive buildings, the medieval
Merchant Adventurers' Hall. Check out the pics on the website because mine turned out rubbish!

Plenty of knives on sale, and some even looked to be of a higher standard than the ones usually sold at the
event
...
Hope everyone else is having a nice Saturday
Thanks for sharing the pics of your York trip, Jack!

The high water level of the river is sobering.

The Viking Festival looks like it would be an entertaining experience!

The college at which I worked sends a group of students to a "Semester in Britain" each spring semester; I think they take classes at York/St. John University. I wonder if all the rain is causing them any disruptions.
Man Jack is my lambsfoot this week:
