Thanks Dennis! Yes, it does make a good user despite its defects. In fact, I used it quite a bit to mark my templates for this latest build! Not a Fender, sort of a blend of influences, and set up like an esquire. Pictured here with a lamb that is properly put together!

The etch or stamp is very traditional on Lambsfoot knives, but it's one extra step in manufacturing. It's on the Guardians knives and Hartshead Barlows because I specifically requested it :thumbsup: QC on Wright's standard range seems to have got worse rather than better, with a lot of uncentred blades and bad edges. If it bothers you, the former is an easy fix, the latter too unless the guy has completely cocked it up (which is sometimes the case). Looking forward to seeing more of you and your Lambsfoot :thumbsup:

Thanks for the info on the etch. The centering is really not a big deal to me and I can put a new edge on there so all is good. Starting on my patina this morning. :)

I think there's a recent thread discussing blade centering. It's not a big deal for me either, but I insisted on it for the Guardians knives :) Nice start :thumbsup:

It cuts well Jack, not as well as a finely honed lambsfoot, but pretty well. :thumbsup: Actually in the world of grinders it's a very small machine. 2200 pounds with a 44 horsepower 3 cylinder Kubota diesel engine. It pays the bills though. :) Hopefully you're enjoying your st Patrick's day without any beer. What might I ask is builders tea?

Barrett @btb01 was talking about builder's tea last week, it's basically the ordinary everyday tea that working-men drink, made with the tea-bag in a large mug, brewed until it's very strong, just a splash of milk, and a little sugar :D :thumbsup:

There are several reasons for this Bill, mainly bad/zero QC, both at the factory, and with UK dealers, but also the covers themselves, in particular buffalo horn, which shrinks and swells depending on the temperature and humidity. Shrunken horn can obviously leave more of the pin exposed, but sanding down the pins may lead to loose covers when the horn swells again. What are the covers on the knives you're referring to, I'm guessing stag or horn? :thumbsup:
Actually, I was referring to jigged bone on a Bulldog Barlow knife. I never knew about humidity effects on horn or stag but it makes a lot of sense. Thanks for that bit of education!

Looks like that would go down pretty nicely today... I'm not getting wet but it's pretty windy out where I'm working... It's still March in Western New York after all. :p
 
I don't know how well your lambsfoot knives have been finished but on a few of mine I have found that the pins, having been hammer peened over, were left with a sharp edge to them that occasionally snagged in my pocket and in my hand (ouch! :mad:). These pins are mostly standing proud in the scales. I was concerned about using emory cloth or sand paper to smooth them out for fear of damaging the scales :eek:. So I tried taking a small piece of old belt leather and hand worked the sharp edges smooth by just rubbing it against the sharp edges of the pins. Turned out to be pretty effective and no damage to the scales what-so-ever :thumbsup:. The belt leather pieces, however, got a little chewed up but it worked well :D.

Yeah, I often take some out hiking with me in a flask, and the old boys on the tool-stall love it :) After months and months of rain here, the weather has actually settled down here this week o_O :rolleyes:
 
Mine is pretty close to your wife’s. England, Wales, and Northwestern Europe at 81%. Ireland and Scotland at 13%. Norway at 4% and Sweden with the remaining 2%.:D
Actually, Ancestry DNA recently updated her report to include Scandinavia--I think it was Sweden but have to ask. I guess as more people get tested, their estimates are adjusted.

Yeah, the HHB I have had a small issue that I tended to but the Bulldog was the worst. The other was one that I have subsequently sold (I think you know which one I am referring to but I did not want to mention any brands or names in my post.
