Thanks chaps. I was just going to post a pic of King Alfred's statue and the Great Hall in Winchester, but can't. And still can't quote.
Jack, it must be healthy. I see green yellow and orange. :D:thumbsup:

Yeah, it had all sorts in there David! Well healthy! :D I've just been telling you about my pastie, but your PM box is full mate!

This isn’t new but seems appropriate in these times.

On a snowy Monday.

Beautiful photo Dave :) Thanks for the tunes  :)

Jack Black Jack Black - Love your neighborhood images, fronted by your Hartshead. The pikelets look delish. What’s a pikelet.:)

Good Afternoon Guardians. “Morning has broken.” Where’s Waldo the duck.?

Thank you Harvey, you're very kind :) Until the early 1980's, 50% of Britain were used to buying pikelets, the other half called them crumpets. When the big bakeries took over from the small ones, which used to be found on every main street here, they printed 'crumpets' on one side of the pack, and 'pikelets' on the other. But gradually, the word pikelet, which was primarily used in the north was replaced, and now only a few folks, like me, call them that. I mourn the loss of the word, which in Sheffield, is also a friendly word for someone who is being a bit foolish. If you look up the word online, you'll find all sorts of revisionist rubbish, that a pikelet was something different, that it was square, or made differently, but this is quite untrue, a pikelet, to use an internationally obscure expression, is a thinking man's crumpet

Harvey, those photos are absolutely beautiful

As I waited to hear the 8.30pm announcement by the British prime minister (I still can't believe it) to announce just how Draconian the latest lock-down rules would be here, I decided to have a drink.

Glad I did o_O
Going through much of the same here. I leave for home in an hour, and will have a drink too (with dinner). Going to be working from home a bit, but our office has to stay open.

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Thanks also for the pikelet information. Now I want one. Like you, I also miss some of the former words and times.

I just listened to your PM’s address to the Nation. Three weeks(maybe) is a long time. We have the same proscriptions In my state, but with one exception. It sounded like you’re limited to one solo(or with members of your household), walk or other such activity per day. Courage, my friend. Cheers to that pint.

Thanks Harvey, I'll be very surprised if things change in three weeks though

Now where the blazes did you find a can of Boddies? :D

You've been drinking from the cup of wisdom today my friend :)
Well, as I'm rationing my beer supply I thought it best. :D

LOL! Well, as Jack Laidlaw-Brown, my ex-brother-in-law's former Spitfire pilot dad, used to say, "The things you see when you haven't got your gun with you!"

Yep, it's the only Pen blade stamp that firm currently possess. Maybe it wasn't originally a Pen blade, could have been a small Spear I guess. They don't even know where all the stuff comes from because the firm has had so many different owners

So like the blade etching machine they have then?

Nice photo David, to finish off a great post

Cheers!

Me too ( but you already knew that :) )
I remember when they trained us on how to put on those Stryker suits when SARS happened. Never had to wear one in a real situation but I think they found out they were not that effective for preventing SARS afterwards.

Thank you my friend !

Aye and that speaks volumes regarding the difference between how seriously the British NHS treats communicable diseases and how other countries healthcare systems do. We didn't get anything as comprehensive as Stryker suits. A face mask, eye shields and theatre gown. We weren't even allowed to stop visitors entering the ward.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

Good news is mail is still being delivered. Had a Li'l Lambsfoot recovered in micarta, and it came home this morning.

Not my photo, but a good one ;)

Nice looking lambsfoot there. Is it me, or are those pins more robust looking than usual?

Cheers Jack, I didn't know. PM box empty awaiting to be regaled by tales of pasties! :D
