Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thank you Jack! The Damascus SFOs are all beauties my friend! I don’t have any woolies but I’m definitely getting my heavy sweat shirts and my blue jeans ready. I’ve been wearing T-shirts and gym shorts around the house!

Looks delicious Jack! Enjoy those sammiches! :D

Hope you get some nicer weather soon Ron :) Thanks my friend

Don't blame you, those look delicious.:thumbsup:

Thanks John, I've been tucking into the large Granary loaf, mmm :)

An absolute beauty Alan, can you remind me how many of those were made? :)

Hello, Guardians!
I came upon another "Asparagus of Death" on today's wanderings.
iAFCXgB.jpg

It takes a Big-un to battle those!

Arrgghhh! Don't get swallowed up Rachel! :D

Jack Black Jack Black - Thank you Jack. Beautiful looking hearty loafs of goodness. Bon appétit!

Good Afternoon Guardians.

Thanks Harvey, while I can't take any credit for baking them, I'm certainly going to enjoy eating them! :D Fab photo my friend :)

A WCLF on my grungy keyboard.

Great-looking WCLF Ed :) My keyboard is at least as bad  +

I'd say that as good a theme for today as any.:thumbsup:

Here's my WCLF on my grungy keyboard.

That looks pretty clean John :D Lovely ebony WCLF

OK, I'll fess up!

Thanks Jack. Not the weather today but we've had a VERY wet spring. :)

Well, it's made some very striking images Dwight! :D Hope you get some sunshine soon my friend :)

They are cool, and kinda remind me of aliens in the old EC Comics.

Those plants are downright sinister! :D

Thank you, Jack! Go big or go home, right? Well, I'm already home... But I surprised myself when I realized I had no appropriate drink ware for margheritas so a big ol' mug had to suffice.

Thank you, Ron!

I brought this oft neglected Lambsfoot out to keep me company this evening. It is my most under appreciated, I think, through no fault of its own. The horn is striking despite it not being as flashy as the others - very nice grain to it.

One of Jack's 2018 Midnight Specials, if I recall correctly.

Good stuff Dylan :D During the West Indian Carnival in my neighbourhood last summer, I filled up every vacuum flask I could find with ice cold Dark & Stormy, and happily worked my way through them while watching the parade :D

The Midnight Specials were actually a group of 5 knives from the previous year's Guardian's run. Here's a photo of one, but I'm afraid I don't have one myself. I believe Ron Half/Stop Half/Stop and Gary Peregrin Peregrin have examples :) They have a beautiful, subtle character to the horn I think

Your neglected Lambsfoot is actually one of the 2018 Guardian's knives, I had them made in ebony and horn, but if it hadn't been for the demand I would have dropped the order for the horn models. I asked for horn like this:

Finally received these sample photos:

I've not carried horn for a while Dylan, so if you don't mind, I'm going to join you my friend :)

Cherry picking :)

Beautiful work again Dan, and great pics too :)

Morning Guardians, Thursday isn't it?! Hope everyone is still doing OK. As per my comment above I'm carrying my 2018 Guardians SFO in horn :) Going to clean my key-board now!  Have a good day Guardians

Good morning Guardians! Jack you’re correct, I am the proud owner of a “Midnight Special”. I’ve dropped it in my pocket today. It is very hard to photograph because of the depth of the grain in the Horn. These two recycled photos were taken in early morning light that was shining through a window. They are probably some of the best photos I’ve taken of this Lambsfoot! :)

I recall it was hard to photograph the real beauty of those knives Ron, and you did an outstanding job there, well done :)

It’s 39F here this morning, so here’s a couple of new indoor photos I just took of my Midnight Special! :) @Pàdruig Dylan ;)

Today is a National Day of Prayer here in the US. My prayers for all of you Guardians are for your safety and wellness in these times we are now facing! :)

Nice to see it again :)

There ya go, I was wondering who else would be brave enough to step up to the challenge.:thumbsup:

I still haven't had a chance to clean it too! I've had such a busy day today, don't know where it has gone

Good Morning Guardians

Nice image John, great to see more of your fantastic work :)

Let the Midnight Special shine a ever lovin' light on me
Thanks, Jack!

I'm glad you have that one Gary :)

I will have records, but off-hand, I can't remember who had the other 3 Midnight Specials. I think maybe Old Engineer Old Engineer and @AShearer ?

Here it is again on our wood cook stove. The coloring shows up much better in this picture.

Thank you David :)

Nice bike
It took me second by I spotted your trusty Hartshead on your trusty steed :)

Cheers Dan, but it's actually a bit old and knackered now. Needs some parts replacing but I can't source anything with all this lockdown rubbish going on.

Also, carrying my lambsfoot is teaching me all sort of things as I pay more attention when out on walks.
I did not know "Red Trilliums " existed . I found out that Red trillium flowers have no nectar but do have a rotting-flesh smell which attracts carrion flies. The flies in turn pollinate the flowers.

GCuINhQ.jpg

Now that is interesting. Cheers!

Thanks David, I think it was a factor, as it was quite cool. Much warmer and sunnier today, and consequently busier.

It sounds reasonable doesn't it? My first job was at the Sheffield Works Department depot on Manor Lane in Sheffield, opposite the abattoir, and adjacent to Sheffield's roughest council estate (housing project, also called The Manor

Just from the photos I found online, it looks like they might have latterly tarted it up a bit, but until recently it was just a pile of rubble, overgrown with weeds, in the middle of the afore-mentioned estate, and unknown to most Sheffielders. It seems it's now a visitor attraction, took a while, but I guess there were concerns for the safety of visitors. The local pub has so many ex-convicts among its clientele, they have a table-tennis table, so they can practice between stretches

Fantastic pics David, looks like great weather :)

Thanks Jack. And thanks for posting that link; I'm going to have to add that to my list of places I'll never get to see.:)

Looks like it would be a great place to take a walk.:thumbsup:

Thanks John it is. It's actually very urban round there so the canal is a bit of peace and quiet amongst it all.

As luck would have it the bad weather missed us. We’ve got a cold spell headed our way for the weekend. Record lows in the high 30’s projected for Saturday and Sunday! Great photos David! :D

Nice one Ron. Aye the weather guessers have changed their mind now. Saturday now ok, but Sunday still looks a shock to all us short and shirt sleeve lot.:D

Hello Guardians. I’m all smiles this morning! :D This SFO from my friend Jack is one of the reasons why! There is just something about a beautiful Lambsfoot that makes me feel good all over! I hope y’all are all safe and well! :)

I'd be grinning like a Cheshire Cat myself if I had that.:thumbsup:

I think it is true, though I haven't looked anything up yet. (Where's the sport in that?)

Manor house at Lindfield in Sussex.

Aye I'll have to do some research on it now as it's got me thinking. I wish I had still access to the old farm deeds and I could look up the original name to the farm and the name of the Lady who had lived there. They were these huge sheets of both vellum or parchment with huge wax seals attached, written in the most intricate copperplate and they rattled on for hundreds of words with things such like...
"In this Year of our Lord sixteen hundred and thirty two on the sixteenth day of October, with the grace and favour of the Holy Trinity and subject to the laws of the Almighty who governs both heaven and earth and the laws of all Mankind. I, Matthew somebodyother, of the parish of Pennington in the county of Lancashire in the Kingdom of England, being a loyal servant of the both the Lord Almighty and his most Royal Majesty King Charles, rightful ruler of the Kingdom of England as witnessed in the eyes of the Lord Almighty....

Seriously chaps. They spoke differently in them days. :D

Great looking! We don't see much of those flavour covers for the WCLF on here.

Great work Dan. I wish I could work wood like that.

Well as I'm doing nothing it was going to be my swayback today but luckily a big job came along that needed something a little more robust to tackle. :D
