Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Buffalo Horn "Big-un" on the rocks.

Here it is again on our wood cook stove. The coloring shows up much better in this picture.

Another Buffalo Horn on the rocks - this one a "Lil-un". My board reflected in the blade.

What the heck!! Here's a Buffalo Horn Standard.

Nice photos Ed, hope you're doing OK :)

Thanks Jack. And thanks for posting that link; I'm going to have to add that to my list of places I'll never get to see.:)

Well, at least there'll be no danger of getting mugged by the locals! About 25 years ago, a German hot-air balloonist made the mistake of descending round there to ask directions, he'd have been safer coming down in Sarajevo or Beirut!

Well as I'm doing nothing it was going to be my swayback today but luckily a big job came along that needed something a little more robust to tackle. :D

Serious choice David, that looks like a great lunch :)

You sneaky guy, you...
Made me run out to the mailbox (seriously, I'm out of breath now). :D
I absolutely love them both (you know what I like) and I will do a proper picture taking and thank you in a while.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nicely done Ed

Thanks Jack! I need to be more equal with the carry time on some of my lambs! :)

You're not alone there my friend  ;)

Okay, here's what I got from my friend, ED.
It was a total surprise and I didn't know I was getting anything from him until he told me to "Go check the mail".
I ran to the mail box, that's at least 100 yards away, out of breath and excited I ripped open the box and tore through the packaging.
ED knows I love a good Lambsfoot knife (as do we all) and I'm especially fond of Ebony wood handles. He also knew that I haven't ever owned a Standard Ebony Lambsfoot. So imagine how excited I am to own my first A Wright Standard Ebony Lamb, and what a good one it is too. This one didn't have Jack overseeing its production yet it is still a very good specimen. The blade is perfectly centered, the tip is not proud, the spring is almost flush in the closed position and perfectly flush in the open position. Best of all, it has that remarkable A. Wright strong pull and hard snap. It is such a good one, I'm very pleased with it. He also included a nice Liberty Bell / John Kennedy EDC coin. He must have also remembered I liked these EDC coins and often carry them as fidget items. ED, I'm very happy with the gifts and even happier to call you friend.:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Sorry the blade is a little dirty, I've already been using it. :D

My pleasure JohnDF JohnDF John!! I knew from some of your previous posts that you wanted a Standard Lambfoot or Small Lambfoot with Ebony covers so I thought I'd send a Standard one on to you. The Ebony on this knife is deep and rich. Enjoy.:)

That's swell, John! Way to go, Ed!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Nice Horn Dylan! :)

Thank you, Ron! Wonderful pictures of your (true) Midnight Special - deep and rich.

Good stuff Dylan :D During the West Indian Carnival in my neighbourhood last summer, I filled up every vacuum flask I could find with ice cold Dark & Stormy, and happily worked my way through them while watching the parade :D

The Midnight Specials were actually a group of 5 knives from the previous year's Guardian's run. Here's a photo of one, but I'm afraid I don't have one myself. I believe Ron Half/Stop Half/Stop and Gary @Peregrin have examples :) They have a beautiful, subtle character to the horn I think

Your neglected Lambsfoot is actually one of the 2018 Guardian's knives, I had them made in ebony and horn, but if it hadn't been for the demand I would have dropped the order for the horn models. I asked for horn like this:

Finally received these sample photos:

I've not carried horn for a while Dylan, so if you don't mind, I'm going to join you my friend :)

Thank you for the correction, Jack, I knew I didn't have it quite right. I've gone and edited my post so as not to confuse others. Wonderful to see all those pictures of the various horn - stellar stuff!

Had a bit of dark wood about me today so I picked a nice dark Lambsfoot to go along with the theme.

The Bee's Knees :)

Thanks Jack. I actually prefer the rainy weather. Should be over there in the fog with you Brits. :D

Half/Stop Half/Stop Thanks Ron. Those horn clad lambs are so beautiful. Gonna have to get one someday. :)

You'd certainly love it over here then Dwight :D It rained from September to about a week before the lock-down o_O Fabulous photo of your Hartshead Barlow my friend :)

Absolutely no worries at all Dylan, look what came out of it, a great feast of top-notch horn :) Smashing pic of that gorgeous knife. I knew it was the 75th anniversary of VE Day, now I know it's Friday! :D

Morning Guardians, hope everyone is doing well :) Most of us seem to be self-isolating or locked-down in one form or another, but I know that there are still Guardians who are working hard, either from home, or out in the world, and they'll be very glad to get to the end of another week. Have a good Friday, and as good a weekend as you can. Take care and stay safe

Carrying my Needham ('US Navy') Lambsfoot today

Here's a photo of VE Day celebrations on Bath Street in Sheffield, where J.Howarth were based. My grandparents lived on Bath St, and my mother may be in the photo (no men on the photo as they were all off fighting).

Thanks for the compliment Dylan! While I may have a Midnight Special you definitely have a Midnight Black Ebony WCLF my friend! :D
