Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning everyone.
Are there changes afoot on the forums? I clicked onto the next page and the whole format of the page changed. Everyone's avatars were located above their posts and not to the left of them and the reply box was completely different. Looked quite good actually.

That sounds ominous o_O Who killed :grumpy:?! o_O

How was that Jack?

Like the regular, but better :)

Oi! Do you mind. :D:D

Sorry! :D

The place were I've come across the most bilberries anywhere on any moors, is above the 'Kilburn White Horse' on Sutton Bank above Kilburn in North Yorkshire. The place was literally teeming with them.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kilburn_White_Horse

Thanks for the info David, some of the moors around Sheffield are packed with them, not so much where I live now :(

I seem to have lost some quotes but thanks to everyone for posting the information of the SFO's. I only acquired two of them (the ironwood and the HHB) so it's been informative to see a timeline of all the examples. I'll have to bookmark those pages for future reference.

I'm going to try to post up more pics when I have more time tomorrow

I've doing absolutely nothing at the moment so my small swayback has sufficed for the past few days.

Hope you all have a decent planned.

Nice photo David :)

Shrubtastic Bill! :D

The supermarket blueberries here aren't as good as the local fresh ones either. I did a bit more digging and found this article with some brief descriptions of the different kinds of blueberries. I also learned that there is a difference between a variety and a cultivar. Apparently variety is something that happens naturally, but cultivar is something produced by human cultivation. So there are only a few varieties of blueberry, but many cultivars.

Thanks a lot for those links Joshua, I'm looking forward to reading them :)

Here's the barlow Glenn recovered in sawcut bone.

Great to see that one again Rob, Glenn did a fantastic job

Rain or shine, I'm sure it will be great to go on a hike. Hope it's enjoyable.:thumbsup:

Thanks John, it was mostly rain, but I'm still glad I got out :)

Good Morning Guardians

Thanks for the interesting replies, Jack. :)

Congrats and welcome, @Pinemoon, on becoming another "victim" of Jack's legendary generosity!:)

Thank you for all the kind words Gary :)

Thanks Jack! I have been here from the beginning and I’ve definitely enjoyed the journey my friend! :D I truly hope it’s got a lot more to come yet! ;)

I hope so too pal ;)

Good morning Guardians! We went for our bike ride around the island this morning. I took my Stag big’un for the ride. The weather is great but the haze from the Sahara Dust storm is bad! :( I hope y’all are having a great weekend! :)

This is what the Saharan Haze looks like up close. The Atlantic Ocean is less that 75 yards from the trail where I took this photo.

Smashing pics my friend :)

At least you have a mask to keep out the dust, right? :D

I was just about to say the same John! :D

Still here, my friend. Just not posting as much lately.

Figured today would be a good day for the Li'l Lambsfoot, as I'm a li'l embarrassed by how long it's been since I was last here ;)

Great to see you here Mike, we've been keeping your seat warm for you :)

Figured I'd fool around with this two-blade this morning

Looks good Ed :)

Hope everyone is having a great day :) My hike wasn't up to much, but I am glad that I got out, it's been a while since I've been within 2-3 miles of my house! The weather was even worse than the forecast, gloomy, and raining mostly...

In the woods there's a very small cottage, which until very recently, was a ruin. Dates from 1675.

Great place! Rode bikes there myself with my wife. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks so much Vince! :)

Especially the “Live Oaks.”
Their beautiful Harvey! Here’s one I’ll try to get some photos of in The next day or so! :)
“One of the oldest and largest live oaks on Jekyll is the majestic Plantation Oak in the National Historic Landmark District. It dates to the mid-seventeenth century and at seven feet eight inches in diameter is a foot wider than LeBron James is tall.”

I hope so too pal ;)

Haha, that's funny Gary:thumbsup::):)
I'll applaud and yell, "Encore!" every time you post that stunner, Rob!:thumbsup::cool:

I don't know much, posted a little snippet from what I found, sounds like those guys liked the style, possibly reminded them of home:thumbsup:

Cool photos of your trip, Rob.:thumbsup::cool:
Do you know the reason why Hollister has an English theme with all the Tudor architecture?

Beautiful area for a bike ride Ron:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Glad you could get out and about for a while, shame about the weather. In these uncertain times one thing has been made very obvious, with all the lock down rules, you can just get out and go for a walk. It is good for the the mind and soul, it costs you nothing and it just makes you feel better, as a society we were taking so much for granted, and just being able to get out in the fresh air and enjoy what we have around us is one of those things. Beautiful old building, renovated, i could see that as a place where a bespoke craftsman could have a work shop and ply his trade, to keep on thread, refurbishing Lambfoot knives for example. Glad you could get out and about, and thanks for the magic photo's. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Thanks a lot mate :) It's been great weather this week here, until today  Until recently, we were restricted on where we could go to exercise, so today was my first trip out in a while, though I've found a few nice walks more local to me. I'm a big believer in the power of getting out in the open air, and the wild places (where they can still be found here), it always does me a world of good :) I'm grateful for the kind words, have a good one yourself :)

Jack - fantastic photos of a great walk - what a great old Cottage in the middle of the forest there - I just LOVE those old Gates - what a shame for that great old place to slowly disintegrate!
The Heartshead looks at home with that old Lions head that’s for sure!

Wow Jack to me that was just an absolutely splendid post gave a look into a world I have never saw up close yet in someways it seems similar to the Appalachian Mountains where I live. I'm posting a few of pictures of the area I live if not appropriate to post them here I will be glad to take them down just let me know Jack Black Jack Black I don't want to derail this thread.

Thanks for the nice pictures my friend . Nice knife that you were carrying and bike that you are riding . Looks like you may have lost a little weight from all your working on the deck .

My plum tree is loaded with ripe fruit, and this week was the time to make jam. I made a batch on Tuesday; today was the second batch. My trusty companion was my ebony Wright. First the plums ready for processing:

And the finished product:

This jam goes very well with stronger flavored bread, like my sourdough rye/wheat. With these two batches I probably have enough to tide me over until next year.

One of the joys of life, homemade jam. My Grandmother used to have it on cold toast with her own homemade butter. "Magnificent". We had a plum and apricot tree in our backyard. You are making me pine for some good old fashioned homemade jam, ENJOY, i'm sure you will.

Thank you very much Duncan, I have some photos somewhere of the cottage the way it was, I even had a look inside. It might have been like that for a century or more. We were planning to visit the 14th century castle nearby, but were put off by a particularly heavy downpour. I've been there before though ;)

I was here before the beginning (2007-2008 as Keencutter) then I left and missed out on all the Jack Black Lambfoot specials.
Speaking of Jack, cool pictures from your walk today!

Sorry you missed out Les, you got a nice-looking Lambsfoot there though :) Thank you

Good evening, Guardians. I hope everyone is keeping well.

Good Morning Guardians :) Hope everyone is having a great weekend. It's dull and overcast here, but at least it's stopped raining for now, maybe I'll even be able to have a beer out in the garden with my pal later. In the meantime, I have plenty of household chores to do  Enjoy your Sunday Guardians

I'm afraid that neither the jam nor the sourdough bread is homemade, but it was home-toasted ;) :D
