Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

In 2018, aware that Wright's had managed to obtain a small amount of vintage Sambar stag, I commissioned the 'Ashley's Choice' Lambsfoot SFOs. There was just enough stag to make 28 knives, which were the smaller Lambsfoot size. I gave the cutler the choice between a threaded or fluted bolster, hence the name. For once, everything went right with this run! :)

What an immaculate garden Bill. You must have real green fingers.

Hahaha, and don't forget we will have sharp knives in the mix:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

And guns? Please tell me there'll be guns... :D

Here's the barlow Glenn recovered in sawcut bone.
AHXuoEP.jpg

That's stunning; love the sawcut bone.

It's actually a public service as it allows us to spend time with our real families. :D:thumbsup:

With my family it would be more a punishment than a service...

:D:thumbsup:
Sounds like mobile-view vs desktop-view.
Have a great weekend, Guardians!

Thanks Rachel. I never look at B.F on my cellphone so didn't know that's what it looked like.
Great shot with the Hendos there. :)

Thanks for the info and links about Captain Webb and his endorsements, David!:cool::thumbsup:

Your welcome.

Good morning Guardians! We went for our bike ride around the island this morning. I took my Stag big’un for the ride. The weather is great but the haze from the Sahara Dust storm is bad! :( I hope y’all are having a great weekend! :)

One of the hundreds of Live Oaks that adorn the Island and the paved bike path that circles the island!

Oops! I really didn’t mean to post this photo of an overweight old cyclist! ;)

This is what the Saharan Haze looks like up close. The Atlantic Ocean is less that 75 yards from the trail where I took this photo.

Looks like a good old Yorkshire sea fret.
And why can't the UK have cycle paths like that? They look fantastic.

A love, quiet image of your Lamb Foot, David.
A nice set of images of your bicycle journey.

Your welcome Harvey.
That Shadow pattern certainly grows on you dosen't it.

Like the regular, but better :)

Reminds me Orkney's Dark Isle Reserve.
The regular Dark Isle: "Oh that's nice".
The Dark Isle Reserve: "OHHH.....THAT'S NIIIIICCE......."

Thanks for the info David, some of the moors around Sheffield are packed with them, not so much where I live now :(

Thanks for letting me know Jack. I'll pay more attention if ever I get up there again.

Hope everyone is having a great day :) My hike wasn't up to much, but I am glad that I got out, it's been a while since I've been within 2-3 miles of my house! The weather was even worse than the forecast, gloomy, and raining mostly...

We stayed in the woods for most of the time (not particularly photogenic)...

In the woods there's a very small cottage, which until very recently, was a ruin. Dates from 1675.

Great photos Jack. Looks more peaceful than I thought it would be. And I could live in the house.

I was here before the beginning (2007-2008 as Keencutter) then I left and missed out on all the Jack Black Lambfoot specials.
Speaking of Jack, cool pictures from your walk today!

What a fantastic shot! It's very professional looking.

Wow Jack to me that was just an absolutely splendid post gave a look into a world I have never saw up close yet in someways it seems similar to the Appalachian Mountains where I live. I'm posting a few of pictures of the area I live if not appropriate to post them here I will be glad to take them down just let me know Jack Black Jack Black I don't want to derail this thread.
First my Lambsfoot picture.

Yeah, there's loads of them David :) When I was a boy, we used to go to the hills above the Rivelin Valley to pick them, but the best spot I've been for them was Blackamoor above Totley, not been to that moor since I was a teenager though

Great photos Jack. Looks more peaceful than I thought it would be. And I could live in the house.

Thank you mate, more peaceful than it actually was I'm afraid  ;)

Thanks David. Very nice photo of that horn lamb foot knife.

Thanks Jack. The only problem is that as this shrubbery grows and matures it requires more attention, moving stuff around, etc. More stuff = more work but I enjoy it.:D

Much easier on the eyes now Harry, here's a before shot, it's the one on the right, the left knife is still in as found condition.

That is quite an improvement Rob .

Yes yes of course there will be guns, we will take this rifle along in case of a fish attack:D

Superb 2-blade lambsfoot, Rob! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Good Morning Guardians
This week is going by so fast.
Artistic photo, John! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
I think many of those super heroes need to redesign their masks to make them more effective coronavirus PPEs! ;)

Good morning Guardians! I'm totin' a Wright's standard sized Père David stag today. Y'all stay vigilant and safe out there. :) This COVID-19 threat is far from over! :(

Catchy Père David stag, Ron!:thumbsup::cool:
Unfortunately, you're so right about the "plague".:( I was just looking at the numbers this morning, and in the US there are currently more cases than there have ever been, despite various degrees of "lockdown" efforts in the past 3-4 months. I'm afraid the pace of change in Western life over the past decade has given our society a really short attention span, and we're not used to something that requires long continuous effort to beat.

Sup G's...

How 'bout you?
:D:thumbsup::D Another good one, Vince!

The post is a conundrum at the moment everywhere. I took what i thought was a big risk and bought a book i was after from America, fully knowing that all postal services are under pressure at the moment.

My wife has been waiting for a brush from England about 6 weeks now. Frustrating, I know.
Best wishes that your orders eventually arrive, guys; I admire your patience!:thumbsup:

Not much tastier than fresh blueberries and stag, Les! ;):thumbsup:

Here is "The Bad Back GAW Ebony"! :D

Here is a special horn big'un that I got from you. I don't remember if you had it made up special or if you just picked it out at the factory! It was stunning, but warped up so bad I had Glenn turn it into Ironwood! :)

Thanks for the incredible lambsfoot retrospective, Ron!:eek::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks so much Jack and Ron, it's great see all of these beautiful examples in one spot. It would have taken me 100s of pages of digging to find all of these!! :D
I totally agree, @prairie.dog; Jack's posts and the preceding one from Ron are outstanding!
Another place you could look is in this thread in early April, starting around page 1900, and find that several Guardians posted group photos of their entire flocks. The knives aren't identified by name in most cases, but if you see something about which you'd like more info, I'll bet you could quote the post in question and ask the poster for details. As one specific example of those family photos from a couple of months ago, I quoted Ron's post from page 1902, I think:
I hope y’all know I’m awfully busy sheltering in place! ;) But I’m proud to share my flock with my fellow Guardians this evening! :D Please be safe out there Guardians!

Jack, did we ever try to identify which individuals received which ebony lambsfoots from the top photo?? I'm still carrying Black Jack, pictured below. Maybe someone can find it for me in Jack's group shot? :D:eek::D

I do have a photo of each Guardian's knife I think, but identifying all the ebony examples in that photo would be a struggle! :D Here's Black Jack on the day he set off on his journey across The Pond ;)

Thank you for the very kind words Randy, that's a great flock you have my friend :) Thank you for the stunning views :) The second photo down from your flock reminds me of the Austrian Tyrol
