Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thank you so much Jack I was afraid this may have been inappropriate for this thread.

WOW Jack those are absolutely stunning!:thumbsup:

Not at all Randy, so long as there's Lambsfoot content :) Thank you my friend :)

Looking good Ed, did you gather the shells when you were with Poseidon/Neptune? :)

Jack Black Jack Black - No Jack. I gathered those shells on Diego Garcia an island that is part of the British Indian Ocean Territory smack dab in the middle of the Indian Ocean when stationed there at the Radio and Receiving Station with the Naval Security Group Department (NAVSECGRUDEPT) back in 1974 and 1975. It was a joint British and American venture. The Island has since been returned to the natives and all military have withdrawn.

Fascinating Ed, I have heard of Diego Garcia, you have led a rich and interesting life my friend :)

Excellent image of your Lamb Foot, Kevin.

And tonight's special guest star is... :D
That photo really makes your HHB shine.

LOL! :D That pic is too kool for skool Kevin  :D
Good old Jake gets his break, doing stand-up in the spotlight!:thumbsup:;)
Thanks for all your comments on Jake. There is a hole or vent pipe in the warehouse roof that lets that little spot of light in. If I time my lunch break just right, I can sneak a knife pic in. :D

This is my only day off this week so I have lots of stuff to take care of before Monday strikes again.
I hope y'all are having a great weekend.

Yeah, there's loads of them David :) When I was a boy, we used to go to the hills above the Rivelin Valley to pick them, but the best spot I've been for them was Blackamoor above Totley, not been to that moor since I was a teenager though

I think I was up there a couple of winters ago looking for a stone circle or barrow or some such prehistoric stuff. To damned cold for bilberries though. :D

Smashing pic there my friend

Thanks David. Very nice photo of that horn lamb foot knife.

Cheers chaps.

Much easier on the eyes now Harry, here's a before shot, it's the one on the right, the left knife is still in as found condition.

Now that's the ticket. You could definitely trust me with that.
Absolutely.
No worries. :D:D

Isn't that the barrel to attach the M203 or do all AR15 barrels look that?

Lovely picture. I bet the whiz wams are bigger than the ducks. :D:thumbsup:

Admirable photo of your auspicious horn lambsfoot and interesting book, David!:cool::thumbsup:

Jack, did we ever try to identify which individuals received which ebony lambsfoots from the top photo?? I'm still carrying Black Jack, pictured below. Maybe someone can find it for me in Jack's group shot? :D:eek::D

Thanks GT. You know looking at your Black Jack and thinking about the bagpipe ebony got me thinking. I wonder if any knife makers have ever thought of using old pianos to source ebony (and ivory). We've my great-great-aunts upright in our house which would need about £3000 to renovate it. But according to my cousin who is a professional violinist and pianist old pianos (unless there one of the revered names) are just about worthless.:( It's got all it's keys and a lovely faded walnut case. You could make dozens of pocket knife covers out of it, and one ebony covered pocket knife would exceed the value of the entire piano.

Thank you donn I was born and have lived my entire life in these old mountains and there is no other place I'd rather be.

Your lucky to live in such a place. I had it in my head to hike some (or all) of the AT sometime, but that's not going to happen now. :(

Haha! I don't trust myself with it after a single beer, the barrel itself is a standard 16" AR barrel with a keymod shroud which keeps your hands away from a hot barrel and the horizontal key hole cut outs allow you to attach accessories such as the M203 which is certainly not available to civilians. The scope is on a picatinny rail which snaps onto the keymod. It's a very versatile set up. Scope and sling is all I need:thumbsup:

It's a hot afternoon here, just had a good meal off the grill, I could use a drink and a nap:thumbsup:

I like Chihuahuas but they are a one person dog or one family at best. One of my best friends has been distilling whiskey for several years, small amounts for personal consumption, I finally convinced him to try making a single malt with barley. The sample of Talisker I gave him pushed him to try. The glass I posted above is a good first attempt, tastes like a good American single malt:thumbsup: it was aged in an oak barrel behind a batch of corn whiskey.

Same here. Just got up after a drink (scotch) and a nap. Chihuahua by my side now.:thumbsup:

I have hiked portions of the AT many times most when I was a much younger man but never a thru hike but I have done 4day hike and camp excursions many times and a full week a few times. We always got on the trail in Hot Springs, NC it's a little mountain town that I wish everyone could see it's like stepping back in time. It's 30 or 35 miles or 48 to 56 km from my home. The town is very friendly to hikers or other wanderers that find their way there. A lot of Trail Angels leave their Trail magic on the trail around the town. They also have a very large camp ground when you first come in to town that host a 3 day Harley Rally and hold at the campground every year my band and I have played at it. The place is acres and acres and acres huge and an insane amount of bikers converge on it every summer partying hard but they're laid back an having a good time I've never saw any trouble nor have I ever heard of any trouble there.

Here's a couple of links if you want to take a look at the Rally or find out about Trail Angels.,

Good Morning...lizard brain not fully awake...chilly monday...2 questions:
Who won the recent gaw? And
congratulations to whomsoever that is.
And what kills the biggest spider in my garage? This specimen easily straddling my hand....not an exoskeleton but a corpse...Im thinking a smaller more venomous spider...
No insecticides in there that I know of.

Thanks for the nice pictures my friend . Nice knife that you were carrying and bike that you are riding . Looks like you may have lost a little weight from all your working on the deck .

Harry
Thanks Harry! I’m down around 20 lbs, for whatever reason. We’ve had our bikes a couple of years. We always bring them to Jekyll Island when we come. :)

Looks like a good old Yorkshire sea fret.
And why can't the UK have cycle paths like that? They look fantastic.
The haze was terrible but it’s better today! The bike paths are great here on the island. They actually intertwine the entire island. :)

Catchy Père David stag, Ron!:thumbsup::cool:
Unfortunately, you're so right about the "plague".:( I was just looking at the numbers this morning, and in the US there are currently more cases than there have ever been, despite various degrees of "lockdown" efforts in the past 3-4 months. I'm afraid the pace of change in Western life over the past decade has given our society a really short attention span, and we're not used to something that requires long continuous effort to beat.
Thanks Gary! The Covid is dangerous stuff. Here on vacation some people don’t even suspect anything is going on. Mostly young people but some older ones too! :(

You're a Good Guardian, Ron!! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
Thanks Gary! I really try! :)

I do not know, but if it is that big, could it just be old age.
