Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians! :D I’ve got my Waynorth Cutlery Ebony Lambsfoot this morning. Another day of 90F+ temps here with afternoon and evening thunderstorms in the forecast. We’re in need of rain, but not the storms. I hope y’all can stay safe out there. :)

Such a classy knife!

Wow! We try to keep our house between 72F and 77F. With the strain on the AC and depending on the temp outside and the humidity! I think it's all relevant to what a person gets used to! It's probably rare that those temps get that high in your area. I don't have a tea every day, but I do have a minimum of 2 - 3 cups of coffee each day! I'm sure that ice cold Yorkshire beer helps with that heat my friend! ;)

By the way Jack, when I do drink a cup tea, this is my favorite biscuit or cookie to have with it. From Belgium. :D

Biscoff one of mine and my granddaughters favorites, and the Biscoff Butter is just as good, my granddaughter will sit there and eat it with a spoon.

Jack Black Jack Black - You are not a jerk. It was not meant to be an insult to you. It wasn't necessary to Yell at him in all caps . I could have easily said it was an overbearing thing to do which would have been better. Randy made a mistake not meant to clutter the Guardians Thread with rift-ratf knives. We're all in this for better or for worse so let's make the best of it.

This is a great thread. The occasional errant mention of a knife not a Lambfoot knife shouldn't be cause for a public lashing - a PM to the errant party would do..

Thanks for clarifying that wasn't meant to be an insult Ed, I guess I must have misinterpreted it. Yes, you could easily have said 'overbearing', rather than 'jerk', but you didn't. You haven't edited your post, and yet you take issue with my use of bold text?! Please don't misinterpret my own post, I've provided a direct quote, a link, and an explanation. Hardly a public lashing is it? I don't think hurt feelings trump reality, but I try to respect them nonetheless. This thread has always had a very pleasant and cordial atmosphere, with polite language used, and it has had the same rules for the past 4 years. That was 3 years before you started posting here, but they've always been accepted. It would make things easier if folks didn't forget them, fail to read them, or simply err, but that occasionally happens, and when it does, they are reminded of the rules, by me or someone else, and asked to edit their post. I ask posters not to include other knives in their photos, so we don't end up discussing that pattern, rather than the Lambsfoot pattern. There are numerous threads in which to post other patterns, and if anyone isn't happy with the focus of this thread, or any of the rules I've asked posters to respect, they're more than welcome to start another thread, where they can post what they like. So long as this thread is still open, I'd ask those who continue to post here to respect the rules of the thread (see post #1), as almost everyone here does, and to use polite language as per the sub-forum guidelines. If that isn't acceptable to you, I'm not interested in debating it, and I hope you'll be happy somewhere else, but I'd rather close this thread than put up with anymore of this nonsense.

Jack Black Jack Black , Just found this in a online site that email news every morning, just liked it and thought of you straight away knowing your love of hiking. It is from the Grampians in Western Victoria, a beautiful part of this state. Thought with everything going on, we all need something pleasant to enjoy.

Very handsome Taylor :)

r8shell r8shell How are you going, a question without notice. How is your Ken Onion sharpener going, if i remember correctly you have had it for a while, was just wondering what you think of it.o_O

I'd be interested to know about that too (the text is highlighted to, er, highlight it) Nice pic, is that Rosewood or Ironwood, it actually looks like the latter?

I once worked in a factory with some Egyptians who said the same thing.
If the hot coffee makes you sweat, you might get some evaporative cooling, if the air is dry enough.

Really? Yes, I guess when I lived in the Middle East, people used to drink a lot of (hot, black, and sweet) tea during the day. Here's some science! ;) :D

Good-looking Snakewood Ed

It's 5.05 pm over here.:D:rolleyes:.

Yeah, I was up at 5.00am myself o_O

Southern part of the town of Leigh, 1892. :D:thumbsup:

Going lightweight today so a recycled pic.

Has it changed much?! :D ;) Good tea-drinking mug

Here in Germany you’re going to find these ‚pope cookies‘ in several patterns and different taste variants around Christmas as well. They are called ‚Spekulatius‘ which is probably similar to the Belgium name.

Gerd

I'm going to have to look out for these! :D

My son’s Beta likes the lambsfoot.

As someone who has been corrected several times by Jack Black Jack Black for non-lambsfoot content or getting into undesired content I can say that I’ve never taken offense. One of the things we’ve lost in our day and time if the ability to speak our mind frankly with others who disagree and walk away with mutual respect. In addition, one of the things I was taught was to show to respect when you are a guest in another’s home. This thread is Jack’s thread and respecting the content he wishes to keep here is basic courtesy, even when I might disagree or wish things were different. Without these sort of codes of conduct and respect we lose the ability to be at peace. Life is full of horrible and unexpected trials for everyone, and such trials are no excuse, and can only be made worse by taking offense where none need be taken. I think the majority of folks here have appreciation and some even great affection for those who participate regularly, and I hope you decide to stick around, Randy, as I know you are appreciated here.

Smashing photo of your AC Joshua  Thank you for not taking offense, and for your wise words. I have certainly never meant to give offense, and several of my dearest friends here have had similar reminders about the content of their posts

Sounds like we're getting similar weather Ron :( It was very hot throughout the night, and it was still pretty stifling when I woke up. When I went out, I as actually surprised that it was noticeably cooler outside than inside my house. It's still been warm today, but we haven't had the stifling humidity we had yesterday. Very classy choice my friend :)

Can't say I've had a great day at all, but I hope that everyone else has

Chuck, It’s probably a good thing I’ve never found the butter if it’s that good! ;) I do appreciate you telling me about it! Maybe I should look around for it! :)

Thanks Jack! Stay cool my friend! ;) :D

Hope it went OK Jer :) We've all been pretty stuffed here for dentists these past six months - some would say for a much longer period  Suitable pic for a trip to the dentist! :D
The worst pain was the bill, but they did both bite-wing and panoramic x-rays, so it shouldn't have been a surprise. I got a new hygienist who is gentle and skillful. They have a new ultrasonic blaster that replaces most of the hammer-and-chisel cleaning. And a strawberry margarita-flavored polishing compound.
There's a crack behind one of my 40-year-old silver fillings, so I'll go back in a couple of weeks, just for a new filling if I'm lucky.

That pumpkin-shaped balloon in the upper right of the mirror had me wondering what was haunting me, but it's just my knuckles and a bit of the edge of the lens.

Yikes! Sounds like a positive visit though, and with strawberry margarita-flavoured compound! :D I lost a rear crown a month or so ago, but you can't get into the dentist here. Fortunately there's no discomfort. Nice pic

Thanks Ron, I had to look that phrase up, heat is so rare here, we probably fail in terms of vocabulary
"Heat Index" is a way of making the weather news more sensational, in my opinion. Instead of saying "It's 105, and moderately humid." They can say, "Heat index of 110!"
I have no need of drinking hot tea in order to produce a cooling sweat. I'm sweating just fine on my own. :p My afternoon plans include iced tea, and a soak in my backyard, socially distanced, swimming pool. :D I'll add a little ice to the pool too, since even the water from the cold tap is pretty tepid this time of year.

Much like the Sharpmaker, The Ken Onion sharpener does a fine job of keeping an already sharp knife honed. I've never been very good at using a strop, especially when I'm trying not to round off the blade tip, so I mostly use it to touch up the edge with a few strokes on the fine ceramic hones.
I did try out the diamond flats to reprofile my Lambsfoot when new, and it works well enough. I can do it faster freehanded these days, though. I think the main advantage is if I want to know the actual angle I'm establishing, for instance putting a 30 degree bevel and than maintaining with 40 degree honing.

Hey Jer ! After my surgery, I've only got 8-teeth left - all uppers. I told my Dentist that I expected a substantial discount for teeth cleaning as it only takes about 10-minutes to do the job.:)
