Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Poor little lamb....I had a Lambsfoot, or at least I thought it started life as a Lambsfoot, that was used and abused. I asked Jack Black Jack Black 's opinion before I posted pictures here (thank you for the help, sir). I had about an hour this evening to play and try to bring it back to life. It isn't perfect but I'm happy with the way it came out considering I'm not a blade smith by any stretch of the imagination.
Here are the before pictures:

Hey Brewbear try again with the photo's as they haven't come up - looking forward to seeing the Knife

Man just look at these lovely Knives on this page alone!

( Oh Jack - laughing at your last post - waiting for the Hole to open up underneath lol )
Well my Herbert Robinson just arrived and .... well it has a little more Blade loss than I would have liked- as the tip does sit above the Spring- I may just tweak the kick to drop it down just a fraction, I'm pretty careful if I have to do this.
Bit of rust on the Blade, so I will have a tinker and then post it up tomorrow my friends.
have a great night / day.

Sorry for the delay, I had to use my phone for the pictures. They're up now. Jack's opinion was that more than likely the tip was broken and the blade was reconfigured. There wasn't too much wiggle room to try and fix the poor sharpening job but at least I got it in decent shape. I doesn't have much of a snap but it makes for a serviceable blade.

Do you guys have a preferred length for hiking sticks, anthropometrically speaking?

I just checked mine, with my elbow holding it at 90 degrees I have about 6 to 8 more inches above.

It is more than a decade ago, and it still makes me wince Duncan! :D Really looking forward to seeing your Herbert Robinson pal :)

Here's the original Ted

I think my first Lambsfoot was very much like this, though a little older, and with the RLF etch

I prefer about Chin High for a Walking Stick . Canes are a different issue for length .

Harry

That's a better way of explaining it Harry :) The one I completed is that high, but I can't always get a length of wood that long

Good morning Guardians, wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend. The weather isn't great here, but I'll be going out for a walk later, maybe even pick up some more wood, and perhaps get some slingshot practice in. Whatever you're doing, have fun

Nice photo of you HHB my friend. Hope you had a good walk. I'm a firm believer in "you have to make your own fun":D. So today I'm installing a new scope on my Feinwerkbau air gun. Then I'll sight it in at 20 yards. Hopefully the rain holds off as it looks like we will get some sprinkles today but you just never know.

I think you must have hit the 'post' button a split-second behind me Leon! :D Sorry to hear you've bean had buddy! I've never seen any 'English Recipe' Heinz Baked Beans before, what a con-trick! o_O The regular US recipe is the one that sells here  Cool pics there buddy :) Have a good weekend

2.5 Million cans of Heinz Baked Beans are sold in Britain every day! :D I'm not sure there's any difference in the recipe here though, while the ones sold here, and across Europe, are canned in England, (which has the biggest baked bean factory in the world), the beans themselves are imported from the USA. I think a lot of folks doctor them in some way, I always add Henderson's, usually Tabasco, and sometimes cheese. I think the beans Leon got were labelled like that to appeal to Australians with roots over here :)

That’s interesting. I know Heinz is an American company, but I’ve always thought of their beans (or is it beanz?) as distinctly British. You can get ’em here, but I don’t think they’re nearly as popular as they are over there. According to Wikipedia (so take that for what it’s worth ;)) 80% of the canned baked beans sold in the US are made by Bush’s.

I was going to snap a Lambsfoot pic with a can of Bush’s Baked Beans, which I was certain we had in the pantry, but I couldn’t find any. I did, however, find these, which I bought a couple months ago and had forgotten about. No idea if they’re any good, but hey, worth a try. :D

Thanks Bill, that slogan has rarely been more true! :D I like the sound of your day, I hope it all went according to plan. We had intermittent sunshine and showers here, all day, but I still got 5 miles in, had an interesting walk, brought 3 new saplings home with me, and re-stocked by tinder pouch with birch bark, even saw some alpacas! :D

Here, I think most folks think of baked beans as an American cowboy dish! :D In fact, far more getting eaten here, than ANYWHERE, let alone the Wild West - unless that means Liverpool maybe! :D

That's interesting about Bush's baked beans. Heinz beans come in all sorts of varieties here, but the regular kind definitely don't have bacon in. Cool pic Barrett, and those look interesting. While Heinz are definitely the big seller here, there are a lot of other kinds, and every supermarket has their own brand, which can be pretty awful. A few decades ago there was 'Baked Bean Wars' between some of the supermarkets, selling them for as little as a penny a can. HP are a longstanding alternative to Heinz, but very poor in my opinion. I do however like Branston Baked Beans, and eat them more often than Heinz :)

Heinz is not only an American company, they are a Pennsylvania company! That's why their logo sports the "Keystone" shape.
Waynorth Lambsfoot knives were also made in Pennsylvania...so...still on topic. ;)

Since I missed the boat on the Waynorth Lambsfoot, I'll have to suffer with a can of Heinz baked beans:(
