Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Thanks mate, going well, a bit snowed under at work. Nice to see that Needham, and that you're enjoying some spring weather finally.:)

Weather's starting to turn a bit colder (relatively) here, so I spent the morning doing a little pruning, trying to coax a late harvest from the chilli plants.

Yes, the Reaper's certainly a chilli that needs to be built up to, before sampling it, LOL.:D:eek:

Thanks pal, I hope things ease at work soon  That is fantastic pic, really shows off your Lambsfoot too :)

No need to be exhausted, my friend that's just a bit of character in those scales , your Alfred Blackwell is a beautiful knife.

Fantastic pictures Chin. Thanks for the warm welcome back. I'm not entirely out of the woods yet but this week has been better due to good time managent.

I've still not had the time to track down everything for the Carribean sauce, which pains me but the sewing of the new pepper seeds was a nice distraction. I will absolutely let you know how the white habanero turns out.

We once had a pepper challenge at work. An entire pepper was eaten then five minutes elapsed. If the participants chose not to bow out the next round was started. The progression was jalapeno, habanero, Carolina Reaper, and finally a concentrated capsaicin oil. I'm not to proud to admit that the Carolina Reaper was my final round.

Took advantage of some free time yesterday and took a little walk.

Thanks my friend :) Sounds like a scary chilli challenge! :D I'm glad you were able to get out for a hike, and thanks for the fine views :)

Cool pics gents  :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend, and that y'all have an excellent Sunday  I'm carrying my Unity Lambsfoot today

Fascinating! Do you know the time frame of its manufacture?

This knife has been around a bit my friend :) It first appeared here in the hands of @supratentorial - https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/guardians-of-the-lambsfoot.1406735/page-12#post-16396687 , where there's lots of discussion about it (see Greg's index for a full list of posts). Jake kindly released it, and it went to @Campbellclanman in New Zealand, with help from @paulhilborn :) Duncan then very generously gifted the knife to me - https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/they-dont-call-him-the-legend-for-nothing.1456794/

Oops double post, so I’ll bring out a pic which didn’t make the cut, from a camping trip a while back.

The river I was camped next to was a real torrent that day, with the wind in full spate, too...

Always a pleasure to see you here my friend :) That Lambsfoot is showing some great character - as is the weather! ;) Beautiful photo

Hmmm, that’s strange, I could have sworn I saw a double posting after completing the post above just now, which is why I went back and edited the subject. Ah well, I must just be going batty, don’t mind me.:rolleyes::D

I was just saying thanks, my friends for the kind comments.:)

Also Stonebeard: that’s quite the jump in intensity between all those chilli peppers and then extract to top it off. Downing a whole Reaper is a mighty effort IMO, and certainly nothing to be ashamed of, that you didn’t make it to the incendiary oil coup de grace. Personally, I don’t care for the taste of capsaicin extract at all, or any sauces bearing it as an ingredient - it seems like a chilli head’s novelty to me.

Cheers mate, I like how in the Porch we get to follow the development of certain knives as their owner chronicles their use over time:)

I only owned one lambsfoot which a posted when this thread was a twinkle in Jack's eye. And although I've followed this thread, I've not posted it here since. However I just picked this one up over the weekend and thought you guys would like to see it.
I think there was some discussion about twin-bladed lambfoot knives a good few pages ago, which I'm going to track down at some other time less close to my bed
A twin-bladed A.Wright & Son.

Thanks for showing us that one again Donn  Hopefully Greg's index will assist you in finding the other two-blade posts :) How is the pull on that one my friend? I was talking to @ADEE yesterday, and we was relating how a friend had recently bought one, but couldn't even get the pen blade open!

Yesterday, I headed over to the nearby town of Huddersfield, for a May Day meeting with @ADEE. I usually also meet up with @scruffuk, but he's currently holidaying in Derbyshire.

Our visit to the weekly second-hand market turned up absolutely nothing of interest, so after a cuppa, we headed out of town, and had a walk up the canal. We soon spotted a heron.

We were both carrying AW Lambsfoot knives with ebony covers, so they posed for pics :) The mark side of ADEE's knife has an attractive black/brown mottled appearance. He likes to maintain a polished blade.

I had wanted to visit an antiques centre in the nearby town of Slaithwaite (pronounced 'Slowit'), where we also struck out, but the weather was good, and we had a great lunch at a co-operative bakery. ADEE had beans on toast, which looked incredible :)

I went for the chickpea stew, which came with a pile of toasted sourdough :)

We had coffee out by the canal, and shared a piece of fruit-cake.

We usually go for a pint or two, but I had to catch my train back to Leeds.

I did, however, meet up with some friends for a good few pints upon my return though ;) Hope everyone else had a good May Day :)

Sounds like a nice, sociable Mayday, Jack!!
I spent most of the day around the University Hospital, getting a preventative procedure that went very well indeed! A happy day, fortified by my Big'un ensconced in my watch pocket!

I can't say it beat dancing flamenco with gypsies on the beach at Barcelona, or some of my other, more memorable (younger), Maydays, but it was nice enough :)

I'm very pleased to hear your day went well too my friend :) Your Big 'un is taking on some beautiful character
