Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Still Wednesday here so this will fit in nicely for Wooden Wednesday or any other day for that matter and here in the Guardians thread.

I like em in bone too
I've been considering asking a custom maker to build one to the same dimensions as the big 2 blade stag example (4 1/4" closed) or maybe a 1/4" longer, that would put overall length around 7 1/2" ". It would make a handy little belt knife.

Beautiful Rob, two more superb examples  I love the way the tang stamp has been done on the Turner

That custom really would be something
Thank you Jack. Campaigning is not my cup of tea as I'm no politician. I'm an engineer. Eating some cake sounds like something I will be doing tonight.
It wouldn't be mine either Bill, I do like tea and cake though ;)
Wooden Wednesday Double Lambsfoot Day, Bagpipe Ebony c/o Jack Black. :)
That wood looks nice and glossy JJ :) I hope you had a great Double Lambsfoot Day :)

Nice Snakewood Ed
I was all set to go out to the links and chase the little white ball around but Mr Rainman had other ideaso_O. Oh well, guess I'll start the morning off touching up a few blades including my HHB.:)

Sorry to hear about that Bill, it has been quite a nice day here weather-wise, but my morning didn't start well, when a plasterer doing some work on a house up the road, knocked me up, at the crack of dawn, to ask me if I could fill 8 large (and very dirty) buckets with hot water for him!
Happy Friday Eve, Guardians
Not much of the week left John :)

It's late afternoon here Guardians, and I hope you're having a good day. The bad start to my day kind of overshadowed the rest of it, but good weather and a bonus chip butty, brightened things up a little

I wasn't tempted by this old long-handled slasher....

But I did come home with a few things ;)

When I think about it, I was the same David. After I started work at 16, I used to go to an old-fashioned street-corner pub virtually every night. The closest friend I had to me in age was 26, and most were in their 30's, while some were much older. I was even friends with an old school pal's granddad! :D
Yeah me to Jack. I was drinking in the old mens pub in our village from about the age of 16. I still got dragged to bars and nightclubs by my mates but couldn't stand the places.

That's a fascinating link David, thanks :) You're right though, those lamps aren't cheap! Another rabbit-hole I can ill-afford to go down! :D ;)
LOL! Yeah, I reckon we've all got some Magpie genes in us. See bright shiny things. Must have bright shiny things...:D
But not at those prices....

Thanks mate, I have a lot of clutter! :D That's an amazing story David, thanks again for the link :)
I sent @meako a miniature brass miner's pick and shovel that someone had made, a few years ago, but I don't seem to have a photo. I did find a pic of another pit-check though

Those pit checks are interesting. I've never actually seen one in the flesh which is strange considering how many mines where just north of me.

Very few things more painful than hearing hammering after someone asks if you have a knife. o_O

But I'm not to annoyed about it, theres a reason I didn't bring something nice with me. It's very much in the army fashion to not have the right tools for the job. Although I do wish I had had my swiss army knife instead...

I'll just be grateful there wasn't any prying involved. 🤣 😅 some dents and dings I can swallow, a broke blade...
Hmm....I'd of politely asked him to stop, then completed what he was doing with his head. ;) It must be an unlucky week for the Guardians as I dropped my ironwood yesterday and watched as it bounced off the flags in the garden

I have another project in mind if Guardians are interested, it could be like a " Guardians Work In Progress ", i would be prepared to take photos at different stages and see how it turned out, if people respond that they would find it interesting i am more than happy to try it, we would all learn something for future reference i'm sure.
I'd like to see that. I'm going to be losing my job some time in the next two months so it'll give me something to read.🤓

Always a treat. Thanks for posting them again

We were discussing the folly and stupidity of council rules the other day about removing trees, well i am sitting here listening to the radio, it is 7.00AM Thursday morning, and i could not believe what i just heard. There is a dispute going on with one of our local councils about what sort of trees to plant on council controlled property, they had to have a vote, the vote did not go the way some wanted, so they were going to take THEMSELVES to an appeal tribunal, that is right THEMSELVES. One of the council members stood up at the meeting and said, " are we making rules just for the sake of making rules, or for common sense ". I suspect he won't have a career for long, he is FAR too intelligent for such organizations.o_O
I believe it's called 'job justification'. A desperate state of affairs where self-important, overpaid, under-qualified and under-worked clowns, thieves and traitors constantly try to create excuses to justify why they should continue to take our taxes off the us, and not instead be sacked. Or dragged out shot.

Just some from the ancient city of Chester yesterday.

I think you're probably right mate! :D If you're ever in Wakefield, there's an antiques centre in The Ridings shopping centre, where a bloke called Pit-check Pete has a cabinet devoted to pit memorabilia. He has lamps, pit-checks, and a few other things. His prices aren't cheap, but they're not like on that site!

Sorry to hear that David, hope it wasn't too badly damaged :(

Smashing pics David :)

I wasn't tempted by this old long-handled slasher....
I would have been.
Also reminds me of a Midsomer Murder, where they showed the murders being done with a long slasher, but we were meant to suspect somebody whose short bill-hook had been purloined (so he said).

My niece sent me this picture, and I assumed it was one of hers, but that isn't her name. That should make it easier to ask what it represents. I'm pretty sure I have it right side up.

I have a pal, who I'm having a drink with tomorrow, who was always buying long-handled slashers off the tool stall. It was through him that I first got to be friends with my mate with the stall. He bought so many, he used to have to sneak them into the house without his wife seeing them! :D

I bet my girlfriend will know that episode of Midsomer Murders Jer, it is one of her favourite programmes! :D

LOL! It makes a nice background to your Lambsfoot Jer :) When I was a kid, my parents had a friend who was an art student, and gave them a painting for Christmas one year. Later, she had to tell them they had hung it the wrong way up! :D

It was probably under the second Barnaby. Those started at higher entropy and escalated, it seems to me.

Hanging that picture upside down might have saved them from more such Christmas presents! ( I realized that the artist's name right side up in the lower right corner was a pretty good clue.)

This Christmas ornament might be older than me.

It's funny that I still remember that incident as I couldn't have been more than 4 at the time. It was an oil painting that the artist called 'Milky Way'. After she moved away, my parents hid it on top of a wardrobe, and it got moved to various other positions, before eventually being jettisoned altogether :D

Cool pic Jer :) I used to have my grandmother's Christmas ornaments, but no more sadly :( In 1977, as a 16 year old apprentice, I put up most of Sheffield's Christmas decorations. It was very interesting, as I got to go on the rooftops of many of the old city centre buildings
