The sun is trying to peek out today...

Love the file work on this one

Hope you get some sunshine Ken :) Your photo really captures that file-work well

Jack,
I enjoyed seeing the pictures of various dies and stamps for cutlery. I especially enjoyed the video of Stan Minskip talking about and cutting the dies.
Hard to believe that those beautiful patterns were cut with chisels by hand. What a combination of art and mechanical skill!!!

Nice to see your Hartshead sitting on a neat old Triumph Tiger brochure, and please pass along my congratulations to your pal Mark on his victory in the boxing match you posted.

I found that video incredible too my friend  Thanks buddy, I'll pass that on, I might even be seeing him today. He's a very nice lad, with a lovely family :) That's a cool old hand-grinder there with your TEW Lambsfoot, I remember using similar ones as a kid, those things go on forever :)

Did someone say, "rosewood"? My lambsfoot this week is a rosewood HHB, and I also have a rosewood lambsfoot from York:

Great pics Gary :) I hope you enjoy carrying your Hartshead Barlow this week
Lamb Post 🤠
LOL! :D Hilarious John! 🤣

Good morning Guardians, I was worn out yesterday, and in bed by 8.30am! :D Hoping to make it a little later today, as I am meeting a few friends for a few pints later ;) I hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend. Got a few things I need to do this morning, then I'll try and post up a few pics from my hike yesterday :) Enjoy your Sunday Guardians

SamDamLamb for Sunday! :D

Turning into my granddad! 🤣 As he got old, he went to bed very early, and got up early too. I once bumped into him on my way home from a night out! 🤣 I didn't sleep well the previous night, and the combination of that, and a good country walk, took it out of me, but I definitely go to bed much earlier now than when I was young :D

NOT at 8.30AM.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::)

No, it was about 6.00am! :D I was only in my twenties. He said he was going for his morning paper, but I don't think the newsagents opened for another hour or so! :D

I first spotted these two artificial lakes, at a place called Knotsford Nook, from the hillside high above the Lower Wharfe Valley. They're formed from two old gravel pits, and situated right next to the River Wharfe itself.

They're a popular carp fishing spot, and also listed as a place for bird-watching, with numerous species recorded there. Local guides recorded a walk around the two ponds, which I checked out with the Ordnance Survey and Google. I first set out to visit them a few years ago, but our path along the river was blocked by building work which was going on, and it wasn't until yesterday that I had the chance to return. Unfortunately, my research the previous day failed to turn up the fact that an 'Otter Fence' has recently been installed around the lakes, with locked gates accessible only to paying members of the local angling club, so the views of the lakes were spoiled, as was this section of our walk.

After passing between the lakes, we diverted back towards the River Wharfe itself, and explored another nature reserve at a local spot called 'Gallows Hill', before continuing along the river, and through a succession of local parks, to the small West Yorkshire market town of Otley, snaffling a chip butty on the way ;)

Just within the past year, half a mile away from the river, a whole load of huge new buildings have gone up, which now dominate the skyline. And they are all ugly! :(

But do any of them look like a cheese grater? 😁

Thanks John, doesn't get carried often

LOL! :D That's cool

Here's the one in Sheffield (not my pic) ;)

Beware the Daleks

Doesn’t Leeds have a building shaped like one of them, too? 😉

My maternal grandfather was something of a hoarder, and was so impressed by the idea of electric kettles, he bought 3 identical models, just in case the idea didn't catch on, and production ceased :D

I’m not a hoarder (at least I don’t think I am), but I’ve been known to do that with some items, having come to the conclusion that if there’s a product I really like, it’ll get discontinued not long after I buy it. 🙄🙂

Not yet, but there is The Rusty Building, as it's known locally! :D

It does, but soon, it will no longer be the tallest building in Yorkshire, thanks to one of the new interlopers :D

Me too! :D I got a great deal on some Merrell approach shoes a couple of years back, so I bought 2 more pairs! :D
I hope everyone has an enjoyable Sunday!

How's your weekend going Barrett, hope everyoner is well? :) Nice pic of your Hartshead Barlow :)

As I mentioned earlier, I'm heading out for a few pints this afternoon. I was going to have lunch before I went out, but I kind of mistimed my second breakfast ;) I'm sure I can get something to eat while I'm out anyway. We're starting off in one of Leeds last half-decent city-centre pubs. This is an older pic from when this place was better than it is today, in my opinion ;)

There's a nice, covered beer-garden at the rear, so as it's a pleasant enough day here, we'll probably sit out there

I've had 2 coffees again, so I'm hoping I can make it past 8.30pm! :D I hope everyone is having a wonderful day, and if I get back at a reasonable hour, I'll catch up with you later ;)

Good morning Guardians. We attended an annual dinner party hosted by good friends last evening. "Friendsgiving" dinner. Everyone brings something to eat; veggies/ stuffing/filling/hors d'oeuvres. Just a wonderful time.
Today it's a sunny but chilly morning. Should warm up a bit. I'll be toting my HHB again.
