Cool pics gents :)

Good morning Guardians, halfway through the week! Hope everyone is doing OK, and that you have a great day :)

I was sad to see another big old tree was no more, when I was in the woods yesterday. It was about 6ft across, so had been there a good few years. Lot of rotten timber in the trunk though. There are actually a few patches of grey/blue sky here today, and if I didn't have to work, I'd be tempted to go for another walk today

Yes indeed Jer, I have had a few catapult forks, and a fair bit of firewood out of those woods. A few years back, a storm dropped a lot of big, old trees there, but most of them are still where they fell. It's always nice to see Old Toffee Wings

Some really fine shots of your HHB in the wild Jack.

Good morning Guardians. Bright and sunny here in NC but cold. Going out with my brother in law this morning to play a round of golf. Will be in the mid 40's but warming up to the mid 50's. Will need to wear my woolies but the layers can be removed once I warm up. Later when I get back home it will be my HHB in the ole pocket. Recycled photo but fairly recent.

Started a new semester on Monday, so getting everything ready for that, and then actually getting the class "off the ground" has been dominating my time for several days. Here are some old quotes on which I wanted to comment once upon a time; I'll see if I still feel the same way about them! ;)
Good luck at the chalkface Gary ;)
Thanks for the warm New Year's welcome, Jack. :)
The "Russian paymasters" comment had me chuckling, as did the story of MI6 "investigating" your dad and his possibly-nefarious international correspondence! 🤓
:D :)
That's astounding beer consumption, from my sheltered perspective! 😲 And I don't think I realized that US and UK pints were different; that certainly complicates life! I naively thought that "Imperial" units were uniform through out the world. Are US and UK inches the same size???
Very rare I drink that much beer these days :D With one exception, none of the beers was stronger than 5.5% ABV though ;) I don't think you're alone in that Gary, almost all British pubs serve their beer in pints, or in half-pints, with the better pubs using glasses which contain a full pint of beer, with space for the 'head' (the froth or foam). In recent years, some of the modern, trendy, 'craft ale' type bars have started messing about though, using, variously; pint glasses, half-pint glasses, 'schooners' (2/3 pint glasses), 1/3 pint glasses, 1/2 litre glasses, and litre glasses  When I was younger, if you asked for a pint, you would be given a pint of bitter (ale), and if you asked for a 'glass', you would be given a half-pint of bitter, but first, if you were purchasing more than one drink, you would probably be asked if you wanted the half in a 'lady's glass', or otherwise! :D Inches are the same, and feet, and yards, though younger folks tend to use metric units. Pounds and ounces are also the same, but there are some additional units in use here. For example, if it is not given in metric form, the weight of a person is given in stones and pounds, rather than just pounds, a stone being 14lb. And to further confuse things, if you ask for a pint in Sheffield, you might well get a pint of Stones! :D

Thanks for the Indian food info. We've enjoyed Indian food several times over the years, but apparently not frequently enough that I can remember what dishes I like (or don't). (Had some marvelous nan in Chicago once, as well as very good Indian beer.)
It's funny how food varies when you travel, obviously a pizza in Chicago is different to pizza in Rome, but if you have a Biryani (popular rice-based Indian dish) in Leeds, it will be quite different to a Biryani in Paris :) I do like Indian beer
Nice Christmas cards, Jack; thanks for sharing them!:cool::thumbsup:
Thank you my friend :)
That could be an interesting thread, Jack.
I think I tend to apply male pronouns to most, if not all, of my knives, but I've seen plenty of female pronouns used here, and it would be really interesting to know if folks who use both types of pronouns for knives have a system for deciding what to use for a given knife.
I'm using the female pronoun for Lucy, until she says otherwise! :D

I like hot chili, mild chili, red chili, white chili, chili with meat (of any kind), chili without meat, chili with or without beans, ... 😁
You had a persistent cough for many years, didn't you, Jack? Did that finally disappear, and the new hacking is something different? Hope you shake it soon!

Impressive pair of stag lambsfoot models for your DLD!
It's all good Gary, though I've only just noticed that I spell Chilli differently to the rest of y'all :D I've had a cough for about seven years now, which has been particularly inconvenient during the last two  The new one is somewhat different, and more intense, but it could have had the same cause (a type of reflux). Thankfully it has gone now, so I'm just back to the regular old cough! ;) Thank you kind sir :)

Interesting, and chilling, pic of your stag HHB, David!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Is that some kind of lock system for boats?
I'm sure David won't mind me posting a pic of the Yorkshire version :D ;)

Great photos from your walk, Jack. Looks like you’ve been eating well, too!
Thanks a lot Barrett, you should see me side-on! 🤣 ;)
That's a really good picture, Jack.
Thank you John, I took that one with my new camera, but realised today that I had it on the wrong setting :D
