Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Great picture, my friend. 🤠
Thanks John. 😊👍
What a beauty! Nice markings. Congratulations.
Thanks Harvey. 😊👍
Good Morning Guardians

Add new addition Lambfoot, cheese, refried beans, and hot sauce over tortillas,
Both the knife and the food look great as usual Harvey. 😎👍
Congratulations Todd, nice photo

Thanks Jack. 😊👍
I hope everyone is having an excellent day :) It was nice to do something a little different today. After having coffee and croissants in my favourite local cafe, we headed to Harrogate, through some of the area's finest countryside, spotting countless red kites and deer, along the way. Once in Harrogate, we checked out a large antique store, and the Orvis store a few doors away, which is closing down. I didn't find anything in either of them unfortunately. After a walk round the centre of the town, I managed to find a photo booth to get my passport photo re-taken - cost me £8! After calling in at a few more shops, we decided to take a walk on The Stray, which is a pretty unique feature of Harrogate. When we got hungry, we spotted a cafe, which turned out to be a vegetarian place. It was pretty expensive, but the food was tasty, and we had a couple of great-tasting smoothies. I'm very picky, and often disappointed, when it comes to coffee, but the Peruvian coffee they were serving was pretty incredible

Great looking food Jack and that Damascus is beautiful. 😎👍

Great pic of your ebony '19 Jer
Thanks Jack. This one has a super strong spring which of course means it has a very satisfying snap when opening and closing it. I’ve been really happy with it.
Glad to hear it buddy :)
Thank you, Jack. :)
I was happy to hear you had such a fine day.
Thanks pal :)
Great looking food Jack and that Damascus is beautiful. 😎👍
Many thanks Todd :)

Good morning Guardians, hope everyone is enjoying the weekend :) I didn't get a very good night's sleep due to the problems with my boiler. I pay to have it serviced and maintained, but I have the same issue almost every year  Hoping to get someone to see to it today  I've got a bunch of chores I need to get on with indoors, and as it's cold and cloudy outside, that might not be a bad thing ;) I'm pocketing one of my J jsdistin Sheffield rebuilds today :) Have a great Sunday everyone

I am heavy on footwear, and this past decade or so, I've struggled to find comfortable shoes and boots. I wouldn't normally buy boots online, but I deal with a firm with a good returns policy, and thought I'd try out a pair of boots from Bates.

They fit well, so I thought I'd have a look what else was available, and noticed there was one pair of these left in my size. They're really comfortable :)

Good morning Guardians. The sun finally came out and it's beginning to warm up. Also it's Daylight Savings Time; so I am running around the home and re-setting all the clocks and appliances. Next thing on my agenda is to get our place ready for Saint Patrick's Day. Mr HHB will be helping me when called upon.

It sometimes takes me a while to get round to re-setting everything :D Sounds like you have big plans for Saint Patrick's Day Bill :) Great pic of your Hartshead Barlow
Looking good, Jack. 🤠

Good Morning Guardians
Thanks pal, I always enjoy seeing your African Rosewood Lamb :)

Who are the smiling swordsmen? (I can't read that stuff.)
Spring is here! I saw another turkey vulture yesterday!
Tx65uDh.jpg

Unless maybe those TVs I saw a few days ago had made such a terrible mistake that there was only one left by yesterday.
No, spring is in the air, definitely.

It looks pretty wintery there my friend, but I hope Spring comes soon

What is this “spring” you speak of? 😁

Actually, it’s supposed to start warming up here this coming week, might even get into the 50’s a couple days, so I think the dozen or so cars and trucks out on the lake last night were just trying to get some ice fishing in while they still can.

We had a short warm spell a couple weeks ago, which prompted most folks to pull their ice houses off the lake, but I saw a video a couple days ago (which I can’t find now) where a guy cut a big cube of ice out of the lake with a very large chainsaw, and there was still about 20” of solid, clear ice. 🧊

I enjoyed meeting up with my pal for coffee this morning, but my afternoon was less fun  I applied to renew my passport a couple of weeks ago, something which now costs nearly £100 ($131) - it was £15 for my previous one! 😠 Since the Passport Office are so notoriously difficult, you can pay £20 for the post office to take your photo, and submit it digitally. Having done that, I was both surprised and annoyed to receive a text from the Passport Office today, telling me that the photo was unacceptable. So I had to slog into town to the central post office 😡 When I got there though, rather than apologising, and re-taking my photo, the young man I spoke to, told me I'd just have to go and find a photo booth (there's being broken), and shrugged his shoulders. To say that I wasn't happy is something of an understatement. Eventually, the manager came out, and apologised, but all he could do was refund my £20. Now, I've wasted 2 weeks, and I'm going to have to sort out getting my photo taken myself, and start again 😤 No wonder there's old ladies standing, shivering in the street, in Poland, waiting hours, or days, just to get a visa application, with the sort of incompetence that is endemic in this country, and the civil servants we employ 🤬

What a pain! 😠

Hope they work out well for you, Jack. I noticed the other day that sole was separating on one of my boots. I’ve had them long enough that I’m guessing the midsole is probably deteriorating. I hardly wear them in summer, so I’m hoping they’ll hold together until it warms up, then I’ll probably have to break out my backup pair in the fall.

Nice apple-colored bone on that Lambsfoot!

Not one, but two pairs of well fitted boots, online no less. Yay! Now if you can quickly get that thing fixed, it would be a real good day. Cheers.
It’s not a fair fight. 🤭View attachment 1765415
So much character on that haft. Fine image.
Hope you and your HHB are having a good time, David.

Good Morning Guardians

... But if you can slice foam packing pieces into fine slices, and the blade has to slice through easily, you have a sharp knife. If the blade struggles or doesn't slice through with ease you have to go back to the stone. With practice when you get it right you will know straight away, and when you get it right that is your benchmark, after that you will know when to go back to the stone.
Interesting!:cool::thumbsup: I first saw this testing method used by the late A. G. Russell in some sharpening videos he had on his store's website.

...
That may well be the case Gary! :D I definitely fell more heavily than I would have done a few years back  Thank you, I hope the snow shovelling is over soon :)

I think the critics were far too kind to it Gary, it is very possibly the worst film I've ever seen!
Jack, I'll sometimes see the impressions of tree leaves in the sidewalks on which I travel, and I can't help but think there must have been some days that gravity was incredibly strong there to bring leaves to earth with such force! o_O 😁

I know I've seen some really bad movies, but I think, as a survival tactic, my mind must repress any memories of them. 🤓

...
It comes with three straps and one of them has a compass... does that count?

I didn't get the memo. 🤣

It was purely random but I keep waiting for cops to pull me over for it.

Maybe that's the healing power that everybody talks about. :)
A compass is definitely a superhero-worthy tool, IMHO! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
I hadn't thought about the cops and the drug connotation. I just thought maybe you were expressing, with the "XTC" on your plate, your experience of owning/driving/customizing Jeeps.
Gotta be quite distracting for a yoga participant to deal with an upward-climbing goat kid every time the yoga fan tries a downward dog!

Good Morning Guardians - J. Rodgers
That J. Rodgers is a real cupcake, Harvey, and 3xChocolate at that!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Outstanding vintage stag 2-blade lambsfoot!!!:cool::thumbsup:

The middle one is my favourite as you well know, but the one on the right is that a new addition to your flock???
@cudgee , it may be my earliest fully Jack Black approved lambsfoot.
...
I know he approved of it because he sent it to me, and he never said, "Ha, got you, sucker!"
I hate when Jack says that!:mad: 😁

Beef kabobs and Mrs. Bigfish’s potato salad, yummy! 😊👍
That looks amazing, especially the potato salad. 🤠
Ah, another potato salad aficionado, one of the great inventions of all time.:p:p:p:p:p:p
I like potato salad a lot, but I used to think it was only for summertime and picnics and such. But for the past couple of years, I'll buy a big tub of potato salad every 2-3 weeks when I get groceries and have some available in the fridge year round. On cold days I'll sometimes heat it in the microwave before I eat it, and I found that it's great hot, too. Other times I'll add several vegetables and some ground turkey or some other meat to the potato salad, mix it all up, and have a "microwave potato salad casserole". (Often, my lambfoot of the week is used to chop the vegetables and cut up meat if it's not ground turkey.)

My first Lamb . ebony watching over a spinach, bacon, cream cheese two-egg Omelette going to the dance with 12 grains wheat toast with unsalted butter and grape jelly. Breakfast for dinner Wooooooo View attachment 1762507
Breakfast for dinner is a winner!:cool::thumbsup: If I were making that, I'd probably add extra spinach, cut the omelet in half and save half for the next day, and add another slice of toast to get the calories a growing 70-year-old needs! 🤓

Good Morning Guardians
John, I wish my mind were as clear and focused as your photo!!:cool::cool:

They tend to be cool, but damp, is the word on my street. Good for horn handles!

Words on other streets may vary.
What a lovely "wing" on that thing!!:thumbsup::cool:

I am writing this with a big smile on my face. One of the many good guys on the porch struck again. Todd @bigfish64saw my entry on Jeremy’s lambfoot GAW, and immediately sent me a message that he was putting one in the mail for me. He did not think it was right that I was Lambless 😂 . Well I can proudly say that I am no longer lambless after this ebony beauty showed up in the mail today. This is my first time ever handling a lamb, and I already know this will be an immediate force in my carry rotation. I hope you all will accept me into the Guardians with open arms, as I plan to stay here and contribute as much as I can. Todd, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for making the porch so special to me. It’s guys like you that make this place the greatest hangout on the internet. There will be a day I can shake your hand and have a drink with you in the future!

My first (definitely not the last) lambfoot:
...
(Cherry on top was the Bucs pin!)

By the way, the blade shape is fantastic. Very practical for my needs. I’m going to enjoy the heck out of this one.
Congrats on the lambfoot, and welcome to the Guardians thereof!:thumbsup: 🤓
Accolades to Todd for his legendary magnanimity!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I thought I'd treat myself to a Double Lambsfoot Day, with my regular Hartshead Barlow, and my fabulous SpaceLamb, gifted to me by JohnDF JohnDF JohnDF JohnDF :) Have a good day Guardians
Dazzling Double Lambsfoot Duo, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

To say that I wasn't happy is something of an understatement. Eventually, the manager came out, and apologised, but all he could do was refund my £20. Now, I've wasted 2 weeks, and I'm going to have to sort out getting my photo taken myself, and start again 😤
Sorry the passport renewal has turned out to be so frustrating, Jack. :(

Who watches the Watchmen? ;)
Hey! What's your context for that phrase, John? Isn't something similar the title of a TNG episode? I've been planning for a couple of months to make a post here that starts off with the Latin version of that phrase.:thumbsup: 🤓

And Monday is Pi day. :)
Thanks for the reminder, John!:cool::thumbsup: I'm not sure how much celebrating I'll do this year, since my wife has her second cataract surgery on Monday, and I'll be driving her around, waiting while she's in surgery, getting her settled in when we get back home, etc.

Hope everyone's week has ended nicely :) We're off to visit Harrogate in North Yorkshire tomorrow. Not too far away, and a nice run-out, through some beautiful countryside. Probably have a walk around the town, and get some lunch :) If I don't get time to check in in the morning, have a great Saturday Guardians :) Think I'm going to carry some stag and Damascus

Fancy lamb for your weekend plans, Jack!:cool::cool: A later post indicates that you had quite a good time on your Harrogate trip!

Just got this one yesterday. Lambsfoot knives and vintage anything just look good together. 😊

Congrats on the addition to your flock, Todd!:thumbsup::cool: What kind of wood is that?

...
Add new addition Lambfoot, cheese, refried beans, and hot sauce over tortillas,
Noteworthy knife and nachos, Harvey!:thumbsup::cool:
I can relate to the shape of that lambfoot blade, since I'm developing some extra belly in my old age. ;)

Awesome stag, @JTB_5 .

Four fantastic stag lambfoot knives, gents!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

What is this “spring” you speak of? 😁
Barrett, I received email this week from my daughter in St. Paul who wrote nothing more than
The windchill was -12° this morning. WILL SPRING EVER COME

It’s not a fair fight. 🤭View attachment 1765415
Definitely looks like that apple was overmatched, Todd! 😁
But yesterday I grabbed an apple from my big bag of Fujis, and it must have been the Big Daddy Fuji of the bag!! I'll bet it might give your stag Big'un some stiffer competition. I put some on my cereal for breakfast both yesterday and today, so when I saw your photo, this is all I had left. But you can see that it was almost 4" in diameter.
hhb1.bigapple.jpg

David, your pic of the stag HHB is shocking to me, since I had no idea that York's latitude of about 54˚N was that far north. Grand Rapids, MI, where I live, has a latitude of only 43˚N, and when we drive almost 200 miles north for a summer vacation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula ("Up North" to Michigan residents), the latitude of the town we visit is still only 46˚N! o_O

Those are some great ideas Gary, it’s a versatile food. Is it safe to assume that you wash it all done with a nice Porter? 😊👍
Congrats on the addition to your flock, Todd!:thumbsup::cool: What kind of wood is that?
Thanks Gary, it’s the standard “rosewood.”
The blade is off center a bit but not rubbing, nice grind, good action, only a few minor gaps. It’s a perfect work knife. 👍

Whoa! That’s a big apple. I usually get the bagged apples. They’re a lot smaller and not as pretty, you know…the ones that didn’t make the “cut.” 🤣
