Great looking food Jack and that Damascus is beautiful.I hope everyone is having an excellent dayIt was nice to do something a little different today. After having coffee and croissants in my favourite local cafe, we headed to Harrogate, through some of the area's finest countryside, spotting countless red kites and deer, along the way. Once in Harrogate, we checked out a large antique store, and the Orvis store a few doors away, which is closing down. I didn't find anything in either of them unfortunately. After a walk round the centre of the town, I managed to find a photo booth to get my passport photo re-taken - cost me £8!
After calling in at a few more shops, we decided to take a walk on The Stray, which is a pretty unique feature of Harrogate. When we got hungry, we spotted a cafe, which turned out to be a vegetarian place. It was pretty expensive, but the food was tasty, and we had a couple of great-tasting smoothies. I'm very picky, and often disappointed, when it comes to coffee, but the Peruvian coffee they were serving was pretty incredible

Great pic of your ebony '19 Jer
Glad to hear it buddyThanks Jack. This one has a super strong spring which of course means it has a very satisfying snap when opening and closing it. I’ve been really happy with it.
Thanks palThank you, Jack.
I was happy to hear you had such a fine day.
Many thanks ToddGreat looking food Jack and that Damascus is beautiful.![]()
It sometimes takes me a while to get round to re-setting everythingGood morning Guardians. The sun finally came out and it's beginning to warm up. Also it's Daylight Savings Time; so I am running around the home and re-setting all the clocks and appliances. Next thing on my agenda is to get our place ready for Saint Patrick's Day. Mr HHB will be helping me when called upon.

Thanks pal, I always enjoy seeing your African Rosewood Lamb
Thank you, my friend.I always enjoy seeing your African Rosewood Lamb
Who are the smiling swordsmen? (I can't read that stuff.)
Spring is here! I saw another turkey vulture yesterday!
![]()
Unless maybe those TVs I saw a few days ago had made such a terrible mistake that there was only one left by yesterday.
No, spring is in the air, definitely.
It looks pretty wintery there my friend, but I hope Spring comes soon![]()
I enjoyed meeting up with my pal for coffee this morning, but my afternoon was less funI applied to renew my passport a couple of weeks ago, something which now costs nearly £100 ($131) - it was £15 for my previous one!
Since the Passport Office are so notoriously difficult, you can pay £20 for the post office to take your photo, and submit it digitally. Having done that, I was both surprised and annoyed to receive a text from the Passport Office today, telling me that the photo was unacceptable. So I had to slog into town to the central post office
When I got there though, rather than apologising, and re-taking my photo, the young man I spoke to, told me I'd just have to go and find a photo booth (there's being broken), and shrugged his shoulders. To say that I wasn't happy is something of an understatement. Eventually, the manager came out, and apologised, but all he could do was refund my £20. Now, I've wasted 2 weeks, and I'm going to have to sort out getting my photo taken myself, and start again
No wonder there's old ladies standing, shivering in the street, in Poland, waiting hours, or days, just to get a visa application, with the sort of incompetence that is endemic in this country, and the civil servants we employ

I am heavy on footwear, and this past decade or so, I've struggled to find comfortable shoes and boots. I wouldn't normally buy boots online, but I deal with a firm with a good returns policy, and thought I'd try out a pair of boots from Bates.
![]()
They fit well, so I thought I'd have a look what else was available, and noticed there was one pair of these left in my size. They're really comfortable![]()

Cool picture, Barrett.
Many thanks. Both the knife and the food look great as usual Harvey.![]()
Real beauty,
Not one, but two pairs of well fitted boots, online no less. Yay! Now if you can quickly get that thing fixed, it would be a real good day. Hope you and your HHB are having a good time, David.
Interesting!... But if you can slice foam packing pieces into fine slices, and the blade has to slice through easily, you have a sharp knife. If the blade struggles or doesn't slice through with ease you have to go back to the stone. With practice when you get it right you will know straight away, and when you get it right that is your benchmark, after that you will know when to go back to the stone.
Jack, I'll sometimes see the impressions of tree leaves in the sidewalks on which I travel, and I can't help but think there must have been some days that gravity was incredibly strong there to bring leaves to earth with such force!...
That may well be the case Gary!I definitely fell more heavily than I would have done a few years back
Thank you, I hope the snow shovelling is over soon

I think the critics were far too kind to it Gary, it is very possibly the worst film I've ever seen!![]()
A compass is definitely a superhero-worthy tool, IMHO!...
It comes with three straps and one of them has a compass... does that count?
I didn't get the memo.
It was purely random but I keep waiting for cops to pull me over for it.
Maybe that's the healing power that everybody talks about.![]()
That J. Rodgers is a real cupcake, Harvey, and 3xChocolate at that!!
Outstanding vintage stag 2-blade lambsfoot!!!
I hate when Jack says that! The middle one is my favourite as you well know, but the one on the right is that a new addition to your flock???
@cudgee , it may be my earliest fully Jack Black approved lambsfoot.
...
I know he approved of it because he sent it to me, and he never said, "Ha, got you, sucker!"

That looks amazing, especially the potato salad.![]()
I like potato salad a lot, but I used to think it was only for summertime and picnics and such. But for the past couple of years, I'll buy a big tub of potato salad every 2-3 weeks when I get groceries and have some available in the fridge year round. On cold days I'll sometimes heat it in the microwave before I eat it, and I found that it's great hot, too. Other times I'll add several vegetables and some ground turkey or some other meat to the potato salad, mix it all up, and have a "microwave potato salad casserole". (Often, my lambfoot of the week is used to chop the vegetables and cut up meat if it's not ground turkey.)Ah, another potato salad aficionado, one of the great inventions of all time.![]()
Breakfast for dinner is a winner! My first Lamb . ebony watching over a spinach, bacon, cream cheese two-egg Omelette going to the dance with 12 grains wheat toast with unsalted butter and grape jelly. Breakfast for dinner Wooooooo View attachment 1762507
John, I wish my mind were as clear and focused as your photo!!
What a lovely "wing" on that thing!!They tend to be cool, but damp, is the word on my street. Good for horn handles!

Words on other streets may vary.
Congrats on the lambfoot, and welcome to the Guardians thereof!I am writing this with a big smile on my face. One of the many good guys on the porch struck again. Todd @bigfish64saw my entry on Jeremy’s lambfoot GAW, and immediately sent me a message that he was putting one in the mail for me. He did not think it was right that I was Lambless. Well I can proudly say that I am no longer lambless after this ebony beauty showed up in the mail today. This is my first time ever handling a lamb, and I already know this will be an immediate force in my carry rotation. I hope you all will accept me into the Guardians with open arms, as I plan to stay here and contribute as much as I can. Todd, from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for making the porch so special to me. It’s guys like you that make this place the greatest hangout on the internet. There will be a day I can shake your hand and have a drink with you in the future!
My first (definitely not the last) lambfoot:

By the way, the blade shape is fantastic. Very practical for my needs. I’m going to enjoy the heck out of this one.
Dazzling Double Lambsfoot Duo, Jack!
Sorry the passport renewal has turned out to be so frustrating, Jack.To say that I wasn't happy is something of an understatement. Eventually, the manager came out, and apologised, but all he could do was refund my £20. Hey! What's your context for that phrase, John? Isn't something similar the title of a TNG episode? I've been planning for a couple of months to make a post here that starts off with the Latin version of that phrase.Who watches the Watchmen?![]()
Thanks for the reminder, John! And Monday is Pi day.![]()
Fancy lamb for your weekend plans, Jack!Hope everyone's week has ended nicelyWe're off to visit Harrogate in North Yorkshire tomorrow. Not too far away, and a nice run-out, through some beautiful countryside. Probably have a walk around the town, and get some lunch
If I don't get time to check in in the morning, have a great Saturday Guardians
Think I'm going to carry some stag and Damascus

Congrats on the addition to your flock, Todd!Just got this one yesterday. Lambsfoot knives and vintage anything just look good together.

Four fantastic stag lambfoot knives, gents!
Barrett, I received email this week from my daughter in St. Paul who wrote nothing more thanWhat is this “spring” you speak of?![]()
The windchill was -12° this morning. WILL SPRING EVER COME
Definitely looks like that apple was overmatched, Todd! It’s not a fair fight.View attachment 1765415
David, your pic of the stag HHB is shocking to me, since I had no idea that York's latitude of about 54˚N was that far north. Grand Rapids, MI, where I live, has a latitude of only 43˚N, and when we drive almost 200 miles north for a summer vacation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula ("Up North" to Michigan residents), the latitude of the town we visit is still only 46˚N!
Thanks Harvey. So much character on that haft. Fine image.
Great color in that photo Harvey.
Those are some great ideas Gary, it’s a versatile food. Is it safe to assume that you wash it all done with a nice Porter?I like potato salad a lot, but I used to think it was only for summertime and picnics and such. Thanks Gary, it’s the standard “rosewood.”Congrats on the addition to your flock, Todd! What kind of wood is that?
Whoa! That’s a big apple. I usually get the bagged apples. They’re a lot smaller and not as pretty, you know…the ones that didn’t make the “cut.”Definitely looks like that apple was overmatched, Todd!![]()
But yesterday I grabbed an apple from my big bag of Fujis, and it must have been the Big Daddy Fuji of the bag!! I'll bet it might give your stag Big'un some stiffer competition. I put some on my cereal for breakfast both yesterday and today, so when I saw your photo, this is all I had left. But you can see that it was almost 4" in diameter.
