Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

'Old boiler' is also slang for your wife or a lady who is...'past her prime' shall we say...:D
Quite different to the more recent 'Bunny Boiler'! 🤣
My sister's first husband was a Kiwi. When he came over to the UK he didn't know what radiators were as they don't (or didn't) have them in NZ.
My eldest daughter's feller is a Kiwi, but we've never discussed radiators :D When she was a little girl. we were looking round York Castle Museum, when she suddenly demanded I come and look at something which had caught her attention - turned out to be the radiator! 🤣
Been like summer today so here's a summer pic.

That's colourful David, great pic :)

The forecast for tomorrow is good too :) I'm going for lunch with my mate at a posh pub, then heading out for a walk round the Fewston and Swinsty reservoirs Blubberhouses near Harrogate

If you move on to the Gouthwaite and Leighton reservoirs at some time try the Sportsman's Arms in Wath in Nidderdale just behind Pateley. Unless you already have obviously.

Thanks for the tip, I was just thinking the other day, I'm due a trip out that way

You still got a nice pic Ken :)

I'm quite behind on this thread. Going to catch up a bit with replies now and try to catch up more later in the week. In the meantime, my thoughts are with those going through the terrible weather in Texas. Hang in there, y'all.

A load in my truck bed of soft wood will last me for the year so yea pretty much! Have a bunch of oak that I cut last summer and I’m gonna split this summer and burn in the winter. That’s usually what I do. I cut green in the summer let it sit all year then burn it the following winter.

No never have seen that book I will take a look at it online. Thanks Greg!

Sounds like you've got a good system going!

Thanks Greg, walking in the outdoors is definitely a tonic :) Having recovered from Covid, my mate returns to work today, but has Wednesday off, so we're going out, for what will, hopefully, be a nice hike :)

Fantastic. I hope the hike comes together and it's an exceedingly pleasant one!

Great to see the return of your infrequent series my friend :) Nicely maintained Lambsfoot there :)

Thanks, Jack. That knife sees the most use of my flock so I've gotta keep it up-to-snuff.

I've heard that book is an enjoyable read Greg, and will probably pick up a copy at some point :)
Great book isn't it. I spent the entire read thinking "well I never knew that".

Definitely. I had the same experience, David. It even ended up inspiring a talk that I gave a work that I called "firewood as a backup system". :)

Good one, Greg!! 😁🤓

I'm so glad that you and JohnDF JohnDF picked up on that one. :)

I think your persistence in taking measures to "fix" some of the physical problems that inevitably come with "maturity" is admirable, Greg, and my experience suggests that you should plan on setting aside more time each day as you age to work on "maintenance activities." I suppose I'm in pretty good shape for my age, but each morning I'm up to at least 30 minutes of stretching and "targeted exercises" to keep as many of my physical systems operating as I can.

Thanks, GT. I realized a couple of years ago that most of my injuries had shifted into the category of being caused by either strength imbalances or lack of flexibility and decided that I'd better get started correcting those things if I don't want to have nasty injury down the line when, say, I'm walking my dog and he decides to all of a sudden go in a different direction than I think we're going to be going.

Sounds like you've got a good system going and I appreciate the advice on planning for investing more time on maintenance as time goes on. From what you said a few weeks ago about your weekly walking routine, I'd say you're definitely in good shape for your age or even younger! And, since you described putting on your socks standing up as a balance exercise, I've started trying that, too. It takes some practice!

Lambsfoot content: for the first time in a while I had a bunch of cardboard to break down on recycling day. It felt good to put my trusty lambsfoot to the task and then strop it back into sharpness afterwards. Even lambsfoots need frequent exercise. :D
