I remember reading it when I was about 13, after my dad recommended it. It's quite 'Of it's time' in terms of the repeated use of correspondence as narrative, something which I don't think many authors would use to that extent today. It's only in the past few decades that the town of Whitby have exploited their role in the book, but they've pulled out all the stops since thenMy wife recommended Stoker's book, and my daughter loved it. After a chapter and a half, I gave up! I do like the Lugosi film, though: "I never drink . . . wine." "Your will is strong, Van Helsing!" "Children of the night. Listen to them! What music they make!" Lots of great scenes and quotes.
Nice work LeonFinished making these on the weekend. Kangaroo leather on aluminium backing plates. 2 plain leather and 2 with some diamond spray.

The church are so fed up of people asking after the whereabouts of Dracula's grave, they've had to put up a sign!

Good morning Guardians, I hope everyone had a great weekend, and that the coming week starts well for you. I'm just watching the crows and magpies competing for nest space in the trees outside. In another month, they'll be hidden among the leaves. The weather here isn't so good, but I could do with going to town. Starting my week with my Hartshead BarlowHave a good day everyone

I guess epistolary novels aren't as popular these days.I remember reading it when I was about 13, after my dad recommended it. It's quite 'Of it's time' in terms of the repeated use of correspondence as narrative, something which I don't think many authors would use to that extent today.
Me neither, until I spotted them yesterday!Never heard of them, but they sound and look good.![]()
Thanks Rachel, I never knew that's what they were calledI guess epistolary novels aren't as popular these days.
I'm just a vocabulary show-off.Thanks Rachel, I never knew that's what they were called![]()
LOL!I'm just a vocabulary show-off.
One thing I enjoy about Victorian novels, is that if there happens to be an American character, they are always a Texan. Got a laugh at the fellow bringing along his six-guns to battle Dracula.
That's a very good tip Jer!I read an annotated Dracula that had an appendix with the authentic undead traditions, which are pretty unlike our modern conceptions of vampires.
Also useful tips like, if you know somebody has a broken back, don't turn him over.
Aha!I think Drac's grave is known, at a monastery on an island, but maybe that was only a theory.
Interesting photo Jer
Sorry to hear this Jer, but glad you don't have the autoimmune disorderNow I have mild arthrosis in both hands (= osteoarthritis (my confidence grows every time they change a name)). But it isn't the autoimmune disorder I feared. Long may Dr. E. continue to find my medical intuitions laughable.
Beautiful John
