Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Good morning Guardians! Single source Sumatra and an Ebony ‘18 Guardian makes a great start to the day! Hope y’all have a good one! :D

Well, to add to the fact that I'm already about a month late in posting photos of my 2018 Guardians knives, I finally took some pictures on Saturday afternoon, and here it is Tuesday evening before I get around to actually sharing them!

Although my experience with Wright's knives is limited, I have to say that the quality of the work they've done on these (along with the 2017 Guardians knives) definitely shows a little more care and attention to detail than the "standard" Wright's knives I've handled. That's not saying there's anything wrong with Wright's standard knives -- my standard Ebony Wright's Lambsfoot is my most carried Lambsfoot -- but these Guardians knives really are something special! Here are this year's knives with last year's horn Guardians Lambsfoot.

The mark side of my 2018 horn Lambsfoot (in the middle there) is somewhat similar in color to last year's horn (though a bit more subdued), but I think it's the pile side that really shines...

...especially in the sun!

It's rained here the last couple days, but Saturday (when I took these photos) was warm and sunny, so I decided to sit out back and enjoy and appropriately British beverage with my Lambsfoot knives. :D

The 36 (Leeds to Ripon via Harrogate and Ripley) must be the poshest bus in Yorkshire - Extra wide leather seats, Wi-Fi, USB chargers at every seat, fold-down work tables, and a library!

Jack, I'm sure it varies from bus to bus, but I was amazed by how "fancy" the bus we took from Bath back to London to catch our flight back home last summer was. It was similar to what you describe, and also had a massive TV up front (that, confusingly, showed a view from a camera mounted on the front of the bus -- the same view you could get by simply looking out the bus' windshield just below it). I was also surprised by how empty it was. There were less than 10 people on when we left Bath, and we only picked up a couple more along the way. I enjoyed taking the train from London to Bath at the beginning of our trip, perhaps because it just seemed like the thing to do when visiting England for the first time, but the bus was nicer, less expensive and more convenient (took us from the train station in Bath directly to Heathrow).

I've posted a few pics of our avian friends here before, but I thought you all might enjoy this one from my nieces second birthday party today.

Offscreen, to the left is my niece, in her princess-fairy costume, kindly offering these two Kookaburras a strawberry, which accounts for their unimpressed looks. If it was a piece of bacon or a sausage, they would have snatched it deftly out of her hand in the blink of an eye!

That's an incredible photo, Chin! They're beautiful birds!

Great to see you here Barrett, and thanks for showing your Guardians knives :) That pile side horn is pretty special :) Great pics my friend

Nice to see you enjoying a Dandelion & Burdock! :D

I suspect that bus from Bath to London might be what we call a 'coach' here. Did you have to book in advance, maybe National Express? I've still never been to Bath, and have friends there, so I must get down there sometime soon :) Hope your brother and his family are keeping well :)

I think you're probably right, Jack. I believe it was National Express. Having now Googled "36 bus Leeds", it looks like the bus you were describing is a double-decker? We never got to experience one of those while we were over there (other than seeing them drive past in London), but I had no idea they could be as nice inside as what you were describing! (The only other bus we rode there was what I would call a "city bus" -- same as the buses we have in most larger cities here in the states -- which we took once in Bath to avoid the long uphill walk from downtown to my brother's place. We just walked it on other days, but I believe that day we had a load of beer we were taking back with us. :D)

Those are the long-distance, limited-stop buses Barrett  National Express are a private company, and you need to buy tickets before you board, as opposed to the city buses you can just hail. It's a shame you didn't get a chance to go on a double-decker, you get great views from the top-deck when they run through the countryside :) Beer is heavy to carry! :D

:) I enjoyed your name and patina comments, David.
My wife and daughter did enjoy York, and I even passed on some suggestions from Jack Black about possible points of interest. As Jack noted, on his recommendation they found the Blue Bell, but after peering in from the doorway, my daughter deemed it an unacceptable pub for the two of them!;)

Good grief! to travel all that way and miss it :D Well it's not going anywhere so if ever they end up in York again they need to nip in.

Well it was worth the wait . Great pictures there and that pile side horn is stunning

A bit of Americana today for a U.S Independence Day shot, though I've actually been using both these knives recently to trim an axe haft (and the end of my thumb ).

All the best to all! Happy Independence Day!

Big thanks to Jack Black Jack Black for making this happen. I really like the etching and wood handles. I keep the ‘18 as a go to knife. It will soon have great stories or at least one from time.
