Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Crop failure.

It worked!
There were some non-lambsfoots present.

This brings up the question, I've been pondering, Is the plural of Lambsfoot, Lambsfoots, Lambsfeet or ?:p:)

I wonder if the answer to your question is discussed in one of the posts in this excerpt from the thread directory:

I think every post number is actually a link to the associated post, so it's convenient (and quite enjoyable) to check them out. ;):thumbsup:

(Or, you could try searching this thread only for "plural" and see what, if anything, pops up. I don't always get my questions answered that way, but I almost always learn something that I didn't even realize I wanted to know!)

Anyway, I seem to think it's "lambsfoots".
And I am my ultimate authority, right or wrong.
It's a beautiful day in the 70s (degrees, not years), which is why old toffee-wings is out.

I asked about the proper pluralization of "Lambsfoot" a while back...

Is the correct plural form of lambsfoot (or sheepsfoot for that matter) lambsfoots/sheepsfoots or lambsfeet/sheepsfeet?

Here's what Jack Black Jack Black had to say about it.

I believe it is Lambsfoot/Sheepsfoot Barrett :) It sounds a little less strange if you pluralise knife into knives, or blade into blades, as in for example, Lambsfoot knives

If Jack said "Lambsfoot knives" then that's good enough for me!:p I now have 3 "Lambsfoot knives" :)

...
They're called Canada geese here too GT :) I don't think they come from Canada, but they sure can fly! :D Here's a fly-past on a previous walk

We saw a lot of different bird and water fowl species on Saturday, including a couple of herons. Also two kingfishers near the start of our walk, but they were flying far too fast to take photos of. This guy wasn't moving much! ;)

View attachment 936996

We saw a couple of types of geese, ducks, and at least 50 swans. All were behaving a bit friskily from time to time, like these geese below, but not across species (that we saw anyway).

However, I know exactly what you mean about the territoriality of swans. ...

If I may say so sir, a most excellent choice, and a fine photo :) I keep meaning to take more pile side pics myself
Thanks for the comment on my pic, for the additional avian pics, and for the comical story about your goose down piece and the territorial swans (and turncoat goose).:cool:;) One of my favorite "nature experiences" is watching a male swan "walk on water" as it chases geese, beating its wings to go not quite airborne and smacking its feet on the water incredibly loudly!! Here's a video, but it has a music soundtrack instead of the impressive natural sound:

Excellent ebony, Ron! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Well, to add to the fact that I'm already about a month late in posting photos of my 2018 Guardians knives, I finally took some pictures on Saturday afternoon, and here it is Tuesday evening before I get around to actually sharing them!
... Here are this year's knives with last year's horn Guardians Lambsfoot.

The mark side of my 2018 horn Lambsfoot (in the middle there) is somewhat similar in color to last year's horn (though a bit more subdued), but I think it's the pile side that really shines...
...especially in the sun!

Congrats on the new Guardian lambsfoots, ebony and horn, Barrett, and thanks for the photos!:thumbsup::cool:
That pile side of your new horn knife reminds me of Tonto's horse in The Lone Ranger! ;)

Spent all day with this one and now to sit down and finish my book.

Good to see your lambsfoot again, Ted, and the book is one I should re-read after about 40 years!:thumbsup::cool:

Good grief! to travel all that way and miss it :D Well it's not going anywhere so if ever they end up in York again they need to nip in.
...
:D:p

All the best to all! Happy Independence Day!

Big thanks to Jack Black Jack Black for making this happen. I really like the etching and wood handles. I keep the ‘18 as a go to knife. It will soon have great stories or at least one from time.

Thanks for the helpful links GT  If anyone hasn't checked out Greg @WhittlinAway 's fantastic index, there's a link in the first post in this thread (I must re-learn how to hyphenate links!). It's a great way of exploring older posts, and getting answers to these sorts of questions

Thanks a lot for the video GT :) The first time I saw the courtship ritual of the Great-Crested Grebe I thought I was hallucinating! :D

Excellent pic my friend, really shows the ebony off well

That's a mighty fine pic - GT  I finally received my Guardian Ebony yesterday. I was losing hope, as it was shipped May 21st.
Now all I need to do is start taking a few pics.

I was beginning to lose hope myself! Glad it finally arrived, and looking forward to seeing it :)

Hope everyone is having a great weekend :) THanks again for keeping this thread active

I was out hiking yesterday, and aching a bit today! :D Here's a pic of my ebony 18 taken from the high point of the walk
