Touched up the edge this morning. Love the steel, easy to sharpen, holds the edge well for carbon and of course it takes a keen edge

Ginger Beer, haven't had that since I was a boy. My great Aunt brought it over from London when she came to visit her commoner relatives.
I guess I will have to settle for a Root Beer at A&W
You know what, I totally forgot about itI will have a closer look in the soda/pop aisle next time.
Mornin' Guardians !

Nice work Rob, love the contrast between the brightness of the freshly-sharpened edge and the blues, golds, and purples of the patina![]()

Thanks Jack, that's an early morning shot before the sun begins to peak over my fence. Once that happens it's difficult to get a patina shot.

A lazy summer afternoon. This is an ebony that just arrived, as you may or may not see, the mark side is more of a dark brown, with a light streak. The pile side which is a nice black is more like what I had expected on both sides. View attachment 941534
Fantastic pic Jack! Yes, the new Lambsfoot is the first to arrive, with all the problems I was having receiving them 3 months for this one I was a little paranoid.
I was thinking the lighter wood was rosewood, but as you say it's getting harder to get the dark black ebony. Thank you for your input on this, I am now satisfied that it's just a mismatch.![]()
Thanks for going to the trouble, I really enjoy your pics![]()
Cheers! After all the postal problems, it looks like your Lambsfoot knives are arriving thick and fast!
Great pics
Personally, I'd be very happy with that knife, but I know from all the headaches I had with this year's ebony Guardians knives, that like most of the knife industry, Wright's are no longer able to obtain the really close-grained jet-black ebony that was once available. In view of that, I think that a number of UK knife dealers need to replace the old pics on their websites, so that customers have realistic expectations and are not misled - the same goes for the stag
It's cloudy here at 8.00am here in Yorkshire, but still unusually warm for the UK - 72 with 94% humidity. I know that for some of you, that'll sound like winter!![]()
Hope everyone has a good week

Thank you again Jack, for all your effort and knowledge on the build of the ebony lambsfoot. Thanks my friendThree months is a long time!
Part of the problem is that when the cutlers cut the slabbed ebony for the covers, it's not possible to predict, with 100% accuracy, what the top layer of the ebony will look like when it's ground to shape and polished. I would think that the covers of that knife came from the same piece of wood
Here's some of this year's ebony Guardian's knives on the bench:
