OOps, I meant to reply to the hoping I made it to my soundboard.
I got there a little late but no harm done. I didn't doze off with my fingers on the faders, either, though there was some danger of it.
Glad everything went OK Jer
Greetings, Guardians! I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a solo backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park. My destination was Laurel Lake, which is accessed from a trail head in the Hetch Hetchy area of the park.
Here was the view of Hetch Hetchy Reservoir from atop the dam:

From there, you go through a tunnel cut in the rock and hike along the left side of the reservoir before taking a sharp left and beginning a long series of switchbacks.
Being Yosemite, there is a lot of granite. My lambsfoot couldn't resist taking a break on a boulder:

Eventually most of my elevation gain was behind me and I came across a bit of water.

The tip marks the spot:

Eventually I made it to Frog Creek and a knee-deep crossing:

And finally to Laurel Lake, my camp for two nights:

Since we like to talk about food, here's a selection of meals that I had, all home dehydrated:

Red beans and rice with some smoked meat sticks from Costco, steel-cut oats with pecans, "cowboy caviar" from a recipe in Adventure Journal, and mac&cheese with broccoli and ground beef.
It was a great trip and the lambsfoot was a trusty companion.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and has a great week ahead!
Wow Greg, what incredible pics!

That country is just breath-taking

Great pic of your Lambsfoot on the Yosemite granite, which I find kind of fascinating. That looks like a fine spot for a campsite Greg, and I'm glad you were able to have a fire

Your meals rehydrated well, it's something I never tried, very impressive

What a great trip, really pleased for you buddy
Those guys being that close to the chutes I'm guessing got a good time! My son recently roped in the Jordan Valley Big Loop Rodeo. It's a little different than most as they are roping horses not steers. To protect the horse they don't dally the rope when the feet are roped. They are only trying to rope the front feet here and thats what cost them the event cause they were several seconds ahead of the winning time of 18 seconds and the horse stepped into the loop with his hind feet too, a DQ. My son in this little video is the header and just to add to the degree of difficulty the loops in their ropes must be at least 20 ft in diameter. The judges actually mark their ropes with colored shrink tape. Hope ya can see it:

So close. Had it headed in 12 seconds So the forefoot loop was thrown at about 14-15 seconds. They'd of had it won.
Fascinating Dave, thanks for all your patience in explaining the roping to a total greenhorn like me, over the years my friend

I find it really interesting

I'[m not on Instagram, but I'll see if I can sort out an account later this morning, so I can watch the video. Thanks
Me and some mates used to have a sausage making evening once a year, was a lot of fun with plenty of liquid refreshment consumed. They are so much better when you have control of what goes into them.

.
I remember someone else posting about their sausage-making. That sounds like a fun evening Leon. When I was a kid, my mother would sometimes send me to the one of the two local butchers, (there was Joe across the road, and Mr Baxter down the road) to buy sausage meat, which I think was the cheapest thing they sold. I doubt butchers even sell it anymore here.
Well Guardians. The world wide pestilence finally made a stop in my house. I’ll be isolating. Hope all have a good start to the week.

Rotten luck Pete

Sorry to hear that

I hope it's a mild dose, and that you're over it soon my friend
Some sausages from local butcher and some grass fed rump steak, with some lamb thrown in.

.
All the food groups!
Thanks, Jack... it was a nice event.
That's raising kids right... staying off the phones and getting outdoors.

That's good to hear John

Yeah, all my friends are pretty good at raising their kids, and they're nice kids too

My other mate's kids do so many sports and activities (swimming, archery, gymnastics, football, rugby, slingshot, boxing, various music classes, scouts and guides, triathlons, etc), the poor guy spends all his time just driving them around!
I went with a Double Lambsfoot Day for Sunday.
Congratulations JJ!

It's great to see you here
It really did, John! This was my first time backpacking solo and it was a fantastic experience. Only saw a handful of people once I got into the back county, and not another soul near my camp. Human, at least.... was visited both nights by a male and female deer.
I also greatly enjoy backpacking with friends, but there will be more solo trips in the future as well!
I used to do a lot of solo backpacking, throughout the year, and really enjoyed it, the peace and quiet, if you can find it, is a real tonic
That is awesome! What an enjoyable day all the way around, Jack! Great to see the youngsters introduced to outdoor traditions
Thanks Greg, I've always found kids love the outdoors, and learning outdoor skills
Evening, Guardians. Been a while since I threw down a whole chicken. Wish everyone a great start to the week. Cheers,

That's a cool way of cooking a chicken Greg, I don't think I've seen that here - mind you, outdoor cooking here is a rare treat rather than a regular occurrence!
91 degrees at 10 pm. Sigh.
Yikes!

They're talking about a 'heatwave' here this week, but I doubt it'll get any hotter than that Rachel

Good to see you here, and your Bapipe Ebony Big 'Un of course
Yeah it’s a crack, but it’s stabilized and has been chilling as is since I got the recovery done.
Sorry to hear that Joe, but I'm glad you managed to get it stabilized OK. I don't mind a bit of character in a knife, used to carry this old Alfred Blackwell regularly
Love beer can chicken Greg. My buddies always give me a hard time because I use an IPA for the chicken and a PBR for me!

LOL!
Good morning Guardians, sorry to hear that another one of our brother Guardians has gone down with the bug

Hope you're over it soon Pete

I hope that everyone else had a great weekend, it certainly looks like it

I had a good one myself, though not having any hot water has been a real pain in the backside. It got a little chilly here last night too. Hopefully, my boiler will be fixed today. That means waiting in, and it'll probably be a long wait, but I have things to do at home anyway. I might even do some work!

Have a good week everyone, and enjoy carrying your Lambsfoot knives
