Prices are really going up here, we've not had inflation like it since the early 70's. It might even be worse!I hope things aren't as bad there

Thank you Bill.Sorry that you became ill. Hoping you have a speedy recovery. Very cool Lambsfoot knife.
Thank you Jack. Young Nimrod Cillian is a fine looking lad. I love the dead serious look on his face. Nice to see young folk out in the woods.Just gorgeous Dwight
Spectacular scenery Greg. I've always enjoyed solo trips like that.Greetings, Guardians! I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a solo backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park
My oh my that looks good Greg!Evening, Guardians. Been a while since I threw down a whole chicken. Wish everyone a great start to the week. Cheers,View attachment 1843230
Same here Todd.Very humid here this morning and it’s going to be unseasonably hot for the next week or more.
Well dang Jer. If it's that hot up there where you and Todd are I guess I can't complain!90 degrees today and 100 for the next two.
This weather really takes the fun out of the outdoors. I walked the dogs Saturday around 11AM and they did not have their usual fun. They wanted to stop under every shade tree. I couldn’t blame them. It’s stifling right now91 degrees at 10 pm. Sigh.

Thank you for sharing your spectacular journey. A real vicarious treat.Greetings, Guardians! I spent Thursday, Friday, and Saturday on a solo backpacking trip in Yosemite National Park. My destination was Laurel Lake, which is accessed from a trail head in the Hetch Hetchy area of the park.
Here was the view of Hetch Hetchy Reservoir from atop the dam:

From there, you go through a tunnel cut in the rock and hike along the left side of the reservoir before taking a sharp left and beginning a long series of switchbacks.
Being Yosemite, there is a lot of granite. My lambsfoot couldn't resist taking a break on a boulder:

Eventually most of my elevation gain was behind me and I came across a bit of water.

The tip marks the spot:

Eventually I made it to Frog Creek and a knee-deep crossing:

And finally to Laurel Lake, my camp for two nights:

Since we like to talk about food, here's a selection of meals that I had, all home dehydrated:

Red beans and rice with some smoked meat sticks from Costco, steel-cut oats with pecans, "cowboy caviar" from a recipe in Adventure Journal, and mac&cheese with broccoli and ground beef.
It was a great trip and the lambsfoot was a trusty companion.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend and has a great week ahead!
Glad to hear that the boiler is mended. Now on to a good day.Good morning Guardians, sorry to hear that another one of our brother Guardians has gone down with the bugHope you're over it soon Pete
I hope that everyone else had a great weekend, it certainly looks like it
I had a good one myself, though not having any hot water has been a real pain in the backside. It got a little chilly here last night too. Hopefully, my boiler will be fixed today. That means waiting in, and it'll probably be a long wait, but I have things to do at home anyway. I might even do some work!
Have a good week everyone, and enjoy carrying your Lambsfoot knives

When it gets over 100 degrees, I'll go check on the cat. If she's panting or just sleeping on the porch I'll drag her inside. At least she's smart enough to stay in the shade and lie on the concrete. This weather really takes the fun out of the outdoors. I walked the dogs Saturday around 11AM and they did not have their usual fun. They wanted to stop under every shade tree. I couldn’t blame them. It’s stifling right now
Thank you very much, Jack!!! This is quite an enjoyable thread!Congratulations JJ!It's great to see you here
