That looks better, I hope the point is ok![]()
My uneducated guess is that the Viking seax evolved over time and each group modified the the blade to suit the specific required function. Remember…I did say it was an uneducated guess.

To the top.
Still out of town. No lamb. Sad face.
Ed, I had to carry-on my luggage on the airplane. It stinks! How can you not have a Lambfoot even though you're out of town?Jack Black gifted this Standard to me back in 2019 and when I went in the hospital for my jaw cancer surgery, I had it with me (actually in Cindy's purse) and after the surgery in my hospital gown pocket for the 15-days or so I was there.

The knife had a few minor issues as Jack pointed out to me and after I came home from the hospital, I had JasonSignalprick rebuild it and he graciously fitted it with Snakewood covers.

The moral to all of this is there's no excuse (at least a good one) to not having your Lambfoot with you.

Next Day Air to your destination and Next Day Air home. Take a picture of it on the plane to keep you company. Ok, ok, I guess the picture is a little bit overboard.
I'll have to get a picture of the pile of shredded pine cones in my back yard... it's huge.
Thank you, JJ.Awesome image John, well done!![]()

That's good to hear ScevaThe point is fine thank goodness, Just a minor touch up. Thank you for inquireing.
I have to say; The lambsfoot blade appears very useful, The Wright Senator is somewhat larger a knife than I usually carry but it's not bad. I wouldn't want one any larger though. These A. Wright knives are stout. Mine appears well made and fit and finish while not perfect is VERY good. Much better (Flush) where the backspring sits than many photos I looked at. I do not know what vintage my knife is but it appears to be one of the nicer ones quality wise. As for the steel; it seems nicely hardened but I was able to get the edge shaving sharp with a little effort on my part. The patina is developing nicely too; been slicing apples to eat.
While, I I don't think there's a DIRECT influence, I do think the Seax, which was carried in all sorts of sizes, over a very long period of time, in multiple countries, shows how useful a straight-edged blade can be. Seax were used for combat, for dressing game, and in the kitchen, and if they had been found wanting, folks would have adopted something differentI glad you brought this up. Many times when I'm looking at a Lambsfoot blade I see shades and hints of a Seax influence.
Great pic ToddLooks like this squirrel had a nice meal.View attachment 1904046

I will consider this.
In fact I’d love to see the look on my close quarters neighbors when I pull it out on the plane and use it for a neck pillow.
