I should get another rowan. They're good against witches, but pushovers for fire-blight.

I set this little 17-jewel Clinton by the quartz on the left two weeks ago this afternoon. I'm amazed.

Pockets already full, GT? :D

There are some quite flat parts of England GT, Lincolnshire for example, where I used to go on fishing holidays as a kid. The land is so flat you can see further than a boy can walk in several hours - kind of spoilt the walk! :D  That pic though is taken close to the lip of one of the gritstone edges, or escarpments, in the English Peak District (it drops off past the bracken in the foreground), they were cut out by melting glaciers after the Ice Age. The exposed edges provide superb rock climbing, while the peat-covered tops contain ancient archaeology, such as the Mesolithic stone circle that photo is taken from

I once heard someone in a cafe ask for chips (potato fries) with their lasagne! :D

Thanks my friend, good to see more of your Man Jack, and I'm looking forward to seeing what you're going to be carrying this week :)
...
Hope everyone had a great weekend :) I'm starting the week off this one. Have a good one Guardians

My pockets DO seem to be near capacity, but I often wear carpenter jeans with a hammer loop on the side of one pant leg, and that might be a potential place to carry a tripod!
Thanks for the info on English topography, Jack.:thumbsup:
And thanks for the Man Jack comment. :) That pic of your stag lambsfoot may be my favorite so far - something about the light hitting the knife, maybe?:cool::thumbsup:

I'll get this out of the way before I forget. My lambsfoot for this week is my rosewood Union Jack:

I have ordered my first lambsfoot knife. I look forward to joining your ranks!

Dylan, Jack, and Ron, those ebony Guardians Lambsfoot knives are looking very handsome in a variety of settings!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: (Dylan, your "puppy" seems to be looking quite grown up already!:thumbsup::cool:)

Well remembered GT! I've not even started the new job yet. Now I've got the job offer I've approximately 953 thousand million pages of online training, aka, bureaucracy, aka sucking eggs  to complete. A couple of my colleagues got this far and gave up. I'm getting to that point myself.
Anyway yes pies! They do indeed come with additional ingredients. The most popular I would say is pork and apple, but I've seen chilli, chutney, pickles, egg, cheeses (especially stiltons) as additions to the mix  All nice... :D
I occasionally use a small tripod for my point n shoot camera, but obviously not when I just use my phone. But I also found that trick of using the timer makes for better pictures
And a great shot of your Man Jack there.
...
Thanks, David. :) I enjoyed your comments on new job challenges, meat pie ingredients, and photography techniques!:cool::thumbsup:

OTW is looking noble as ever, Jer!:cool::cool:
And, am I understanding correctly that those two watches differ by about 3 seconds in 2 weeks (1209600 seconds)?? That's about 2.5 ten thousandths of a percent!! Don't know anything about the subject, but that "error" seems impressively small - no wonder you're amazed!

all right, that's how you cut a pie! 4 pieces,:)not 8  I think my wife would cut a pie into 16ths if she could:(:(

I'd have probably bought two pies, but we had to leave room for the Eccles Cakes! :D

They do mini tripods not much bigger than a pencil GT - not the best tripods, but they sure are pocketable! :D A pleasure my friend, and thank you :) Nice to see this week's Lambsfoot, I have just been over to York for a pint and dinner. You know when you order food in a restaurant, and they bring it out, and you think 'Wow, that's way bigger than I expected'?! Then they bring more out!! I am still stuffed! :D

I figure anything under 30 seconds a day isn't too shabby, so yeah. This is the most accurate mechanical I've ever had, I haven't even opened it up to fiddle with it, and I got it for free from a guy who figured he couldn't sell it because it's a "Grampa watch". (Such of the kids nowadays who wear a watch aren't happy unless it's heavy enough to make them walk in circles and big enough to read in a tower from across a town square.)
The concidence of the second hands is serendipitous- I can't set them. But the minute hands are pretty blinkin' close.

Hasn't always worked for me Jer, but good-looking trees for sure ;) Nice to see OTW
And every little bit helps.

Great pic and slip Rob! Unfortunately, I couldn't order the 2018 Horn, as I previously had ordered a horn from a UK dealer. It just arrived, it took 13 weeks, at least it arrived! :p

The Big 'Un is a bit bigger than a Middle 'Un, and bigger still than a Little 'Un Dave! :D ;)

I'm just out and about, but will get the tape-measure out when I get home :) Or check out the index

In early December '17 my friend Jack acquired two knives from A. Wright for me. These were the large model Lambsfoot pattern. One was in Pere David Stag and one was Buffalo Horn. The horn model had some of the most beautiful horn I have ever saw on the mark side. The pile side was nice but nothing like the mark side. To make a long story short, the horn model developed a horrible case of warpage. It was worse than anything I could have imagined. I took pictures and Jack showed them to Wright's but they didn't really have any answers. I loved the knife because it had excellent fit and finish and the fact that Jack was so kind to pick it out for me. I decided to have it fixed where I could enjoy it to the fullest! I contacted our friend @glennbad and we decided to rehaft the Lambsfoot with some Ironwood that Glenn had on hand. I think the results speak for themselves in the photos. I know that Ironwood can be difficult to photo because of the orange and brown tones that show up in different angles of the light. I really appreciate Glenn's work and the skill he exhibited in making this into one of my most cherished Lambsfoot knives.

The beautiful horn as it left the factory or before photo. The severe warpage developed in the end next to the bolsters. I had some photos that showed the warpage but I believe I have misplaced them on another device for now.

Wow Ron, that's incredible! :) The Ironwood really suits the pattern I think :) Glad to see a happy ending to that woeful tale, such a shame about the horn :( @Glennad is truly the Master of Disaster (in this case)! :D Well done Glenn

Ron, I think I still have the pics you sent me by email, and could post them if you'd like?

Thanks for the compliment Jack! :) I’m stoked about the knife! Glenn really did an excellent job. I think the ironwood, while not traditional to the pattern, is an excellent choice! This one will see a lot of pocket time! That would be fine if you want to post a couple of the photos Jack. :D

The Lambsfoot has been made with covers of just about everything Ron, and Wright's use Ironwood. It would probably have been my choice for this year's Guardians knives if I'd known how much trouble the horn and ebony was going to be! Looking forward to seeing more of that one my friend :) You should get the horn made into a key-ring or something! :D As standard, Wright's only use the more characterful horn on the mark side of their knives, though with the Guardians knives I requested it for both sides. I've had no trouble with the horn Big 'Un I posted above, which I've had the longest, but think horn is perhaps best avoided on the longer pattern, particularly for those living in hot, dry climates. Here are a couple of those pics (even worse than I remembered)!

Ron's Peeling Horn 1.jpg

Ron's Peeling Horn 4.jpg

You may recall me telling you about a problem I had with the horn on another couple of large Lambsfoot knives, which I think were probably made with the same batch of horn. The warping wasn't as bad as on your own knife, the pic below shows the worst of it, but I was nonetheless shocked to see them in this state. Strangely, when I looked at them a few weeks later, they had returned to their original state, with no sign of warping. In retrospect, I think I may have left them sitting in the sun
