At the ball park they turn the donut inside out.
Ahhhh... That's smart. 🤠
Very cool John, great looking pattern.
Thank you, Todd. :)

Have a great day, my friend. 🤠

Very nice :)

Thanks a lot buddy, I'll include a full report below! :D

Thank you very much Bill, that's not a bad length for a morning stroll :) I am looking forward to watching that video, congratulations :) Cool pic of your Hartshead Barlow

Nice to see your 2018 Ebony Jer :)

Handsome photo John  :)

I hope everyone is having a great day :) I called in the docs this morning, not a single patient, one of the doctors hanging about, promised to sort my prescription out for TOMORROW  I managed to get a bus almost directly to the market, and picked up coffee and a couple of doughnuts :)

The Tool Man had a good range of tools out today. I told him he needs a pair of red braces to go with that shirt! :D There he is chatting to Barry the 84-year old Teddy Boy!

I've never seen one of these slide-adjustable Crescent wrenches before, and thought they seem a really nice piece of kit

In the photo of Tool Man and Barry above, you'll see a cross-beam just above his head. Each block of 4 market stalls has 6 of these, and they vary in height by over a foot. Everybody who spends any time in the market cracks their head on one at some point, and we've even had people knocked unconscious. I've been pretty lucky, it must be the best part of a decade since I last came into contact with one of these beams, but I found one today, just about eye-level, in the blind-spot above the peak of my cap! 😖 The whole stall shook! 😳 In my younger days, I've been hit on, or over, the head with a range of heavy objects, (probably one of the reasons I'm so daft), but that's the nearest I've come to being knocked unconscious! A couple of seconds passed, and I did a slow motion collapse, like I'd just been chinned by a heavyweight with brass knuckles! 😧🤨 Hopefully, I'll be fully recovered after a pie ;) :D
Hope you didn't suffer too badly after that nasty bump to the head. If that happened to me I might end up in the hospital because I'm taking such high doses of blood thinners. Even if I did not break the skin I might have internal bleeding so my physician has instructed me to get to the doctors office If I bump my noggin.
I think you might be right John! :D Or perhaps I should get one of these?! 🤣

Thanks for the helpful link and good advice Rachel, I did notice that my vocabulary was slightly affected for a while (and I don't mean lapsing into Anglo Saxon!). Bearing in mind that I make my living from it, I should look after my noggin better

I guess that's one of the tricks of the street-drumming trade :D

It took me by surprise too Barrett :) That must have been cool, it's a great shoot out  I remember seeing an early showing of Apocalypse Now in one of the large Leicester Square (London) cinemas, with surround sound, and the action sequences were certainly adrenaline inducing - even more so than when I saw Assault on Precinct 13 in a cinema in Beirut, when there was more gunfire in the theatre, than on-screen! :D

They were nice with a good, strong cup of coffee :)

Thanks mate, he does get some good stuff :) Not too bad, thank you :)

They can break down surprisingly quickly Barrett, particularly since the boots may have been in storage a couple of years before you buy them. Far worse though is hydrolosis, where the middle part of a sole unit basically turns into something like cottage cheese, even though it looks perfectly fine in the box (perhaps slightly shiny). I had to throw out numerous pairs of otherwise brand new boots from my gear-testing days because of it. Commonly affected are types of dual-density moulded outsoles, which were first introduced in the early 1990's. Looking at your boots, it looks like they may have that sort of outsole, and if that's the case, I'd advise you to get your 'new' boots out, and walk about in them a bit. Rotating footwear seems to decrease the problem, but leaving boots in long-term storage can ruin them unfortunately :( If you want to check the boots are OK, before wearing them, press your thumb into the slightly softer rubber at the sides of the sole. Unfortunately, it's not so easy to check the state of the adhesive used to attach the sole. Nice-looking boots

Maybe I'll get him some for Christmas! :D ;)

He often has some really nice, old axes :) I think this one cost me a fiver! :)

Thanks buddy :)

LOL! 🤣 I was looking at the online menu for a place here that does them! 😁 Thanks for the Lamb content John! ;)

Thanks JJ, I didn't actually buy the Crescent wrench, nice as I thought it was :) It was well-priced at £25, but I need to stop buying tools I don't need, and stop getting rid of some of the ones I have! :D I'd be interested to hear from anyone who owns a wrench like that though

The first time I had it was in a restaurant Todd, and I was astonished that such a simple dish could taste so good :)

Thank you my friend :)

Good morning Guardians, Friday again already! And of course we're into September now! Where does the time go?! I hope you've all had a good week, and that you're looking forward to a great weekend :) I'm carrying my much-neglected OTHER Hartshead Barlow today ;) Have a good one Guardians

Nice photos of both of your HHBs Jack. I was wondering if that train in the picture is crossing on a re-purposed Roman aqueduct?

Simple and fresh! 😎👍

The OTHER one looks great also Jack.
😄👍
Thanks Todd :)
I've never been brave enough to try one.
I'm sure they are delicious, but I'm sure your hands would be sticky for days.
I'm not sure I'm that brave either John! :D I think the combination of sweet and savoury is far more of a US thing than a UK one :) I remember my uncle, who was a sailor in the 50's, and had eaten in US Navy messes telling me about it as a kid, he was really quite surprised by some of the food combinations he had, particularly as British food was very bland and dull at that time :D
Good Morning Guardians and Happy Friday.
Hope most of you enjoy the extended weekend.

The evolution of the doughnut burger! :D :)
Good morning Guardians. Have to get my picture in early today (missed yesterday). The crazy weekend starts today right after school. Taking our daughter to get stuff for her appointment. Have a great day everyone. 😊👍View attachment 1918277

That pile side is very attractive Todd, I hope things don't get too crazy! ;) :)

I have had a somewhat frustrating day  I rang the pharmacy this morning to make sure they had received my prescription. They had received it yesterday, but hadn't made up my prescription yet, so I arranged to pick it up in an hour. I then rang the service that takes my mail, to see if they had anything for me. They're actually supposed to ring me, but have become so unreliable, I'm going to cancel the service. "Oh no, there's just a slip for you from the post office saying you have to pay a customs fee." Oh, so nothing important then! If you don't pay the fees, the packages go back to the sender, in this case in the US. I hoped that hadn't already happened, but when a fee like this is due it can mean I first have go and pick up the card, then go to the post office, and buy stamps to the tune of whatever sum they're extorting (nearly £20 in this case), then mail the card back. About 50% of the time, they re-deliver the card to me, rather than the post office, so I have to start again. Then they eventually deliver your parcel, which you then have to pick up. I had to go to the post office anyway, to pick up the sciaticalm device I'd bought, so I was hoping I could throw myself on their mercy, and get the other parcel. I didn't hold out much hope based on prior experience though.

I walked to the bus-stop, only to find that the next bus had been cancelled, and it was a 20 minute wait for the next one. No seats when I got on, and extortionate fares 😠 I got off the bus, and walked the rest of the way to the mail depot. Fortunately, the postie took pity on me, took my money, and gave me the parcel. He really saved me a lot of trouble :)

I walked back to the bus-stop, and then to the pharmacy in town. There, they told me they hadn't quite got my prescription ready, and asked me to come back in 10 minutes. I went and bought some bread, and had a coffee in the market. Apple slice on the side ;)

A6LXTjs.jpg

I let half an hour pass, and went back to the pharmacy. They "hadn't quite done it yet", could I come back in 20 minutes. I said I'd go and do some shopping, and come back in half an hour.

I did my shopping, and decided to have Thai for lunch. I'm usually in and out of this place in 30 minutes. Today, I waited nearly an hour, after ordering! 🤨 Pad Khing was OK, but the spring rolls were almost completely cold ☹️ Think I'll be taking my custom elsewhere in future

LbvfOSw.jpg

I hobbled back to the pharmacy, only to be asked to take a seat, as they were "just doing" my prescription! 🤬 Back at the bus-stop, another bus was cancelled (there's a chronic shortage of drivers here), and I ended up waiting another half hour! 😤

Back home, the sciatica gizmo doesn't work, and the company give their own email address incorrectly on their site, along with a peak-rate phone number for enquiries 🤯

Thanks Bill, that's very worrying though, I hope you don't have any mishaps  I knew a lad who was haemophiliac when I was a kid, and led a very sheltered life :(

Thanks again Bill, I thought it was a rather strange calendar photo, with odd colours. Apparently it's Whalley Viaduct in Lancashire, and I have to say there are some better photos of it online  Including ones with steam trains!

A perfect enclosure for a Charlie, John.

I’m not one to talk when it comes to indulgences, but this combo eclipses that notion.😂

Thank goodness for kindness when you most need it. I’m feeling for you mate. You appear to be “living in times that try Mens’ Souls.” I wish you relief. Soonest.🙏🏻

Good Morning Guardians

Thanks Harvey, I was a day late turning my calendar page over! 😁👍

It really saved me a lot of trouble Harvey, as my mail box is on the other side of town. Thank you my friend, I have never seen this country in such a mess, and it's almost certain to get worse 🙄
Good Morning Guardians
Great pic of your special Rodgers Lamb Harvey 🙂👍

That pile side is very attractive Todd, I hope things don't get too crazy! ;) :)
Thanks Jack. It should be a “fun” crazy, nothing like the morning/afternoon you had to endure!

I’m not one to talk when it comes to indulgences, but this combo eclipses that notion.😂
I’ve wanted to try one but I’d rather split one with one or two other buddies. That way if I don’t like it I won’t waste much money, and if I do like it, then I won’t have to worry about having eaten the whole thing! 🤣
Pile side looks great and so does the image, Todd.
Thanks Harvey. 😎👍
Good Morning Guardians
Great looking photo Harvey. 😎👍
