Guardians of The Lambsfoot!

Hello Guardians!

Happy New Year to you all and hope the holiday break gave all you a renewed (and positive) outlook!

I've been a little quiet on my end due to little things like work, travel, and family time lol.

Jack Black Jack Black ,

Thank you for your sharing your travel adventure! It was a piece of mental serenity for me to see your pictures and enjoy the holidays, albeit wasn't easy with the horrible WIFI speeds where I was staying lol.

My travel to Germany this year was less than stellar, with my wife contracting COVID during the first week of our travels and quarantining through the New Year! Poor soul traveled 5000+ miles to be close to her family, only to be quarantined!!!

Luckily, with the 'cheaper' rapid tests available, myself and my kids were able to test daily before going out to enjoy the holiday festivities...AND, still negative with no symptoms!

Traditional Glühwein (They normally produce cups for each year but coming out of Covid, they didn't have one for this year available for me to buy!)

And...more drinks! Didn't think I'd be drinking a Bourbon in Germany! :D

Beer is practically cheaper than water there...those are prices for 20 - 0.5L bottles!

Of course, can't forget the fireworks for the New Year!

Finally, a few light passes and ready again!

Happy New Year Ken! :) Thanks, I'm glad you liked my holiday snaps. I can relate to the broadband, it was virtually unusable in Fuerteventura, so I just used my own data  Sorry to hear about your wife getting Covid, I hope she's better now

I hope your wife has recovered with no residual effects.
Thanks for sharing your trip.

Thank you Charlie, please give Joanne my best, and a Happy New Year to both of you :) I ordered a luggage strap, which was supposed to come around December 6th, and I'm still waiting! 🤨
It looks like 2023 has some catching up to do!!

Boxing Day was my last full day in Fuerteventura, and since Duane @sitflyer had expressed an interest in the lighthouse, I thought I'd go and take a few more photos. Also, I didn't want to leave without, at least, getting my feet wet in the Atlantic Ocean.

I left it until after lunch, when I knew the beach bar next to the lighthouse would be open, hopefully giving me somewhere to sit down, and take off my shoes and socks

I crossed the protected salt marsh on one of the two board-walks, spotting one of the ground squirrels, and also seeing the sign! Seems I shouldn't have been sharing my apple earlier in the week! I asked someone about this, back at the hotel, and it seems it's because the ground squirrels are not indigenous to the island, but crossed over from Morocco some years back. Apparently, they're due to get shot. I'm not sure what is happening with some of the avian species I photographed, which apparently, are only there because they were allowed to escape when the zoo closed down.

I reached the lighthouse, and the beach-bar, and found somewhere to take off my shoes and socks, before limping over the gravel to the beach :D

The beautiful blue Atlantic looked inviting, and I enjoyed getting my feet wet, even when the first wave soaked me! :D

Very nice Lamb Jer.
Having raced sailboats we would be able to communicate easily.😁

Thanks Bob, I really like it and am thankful to have it. Most of my sea going experience was the underwater type but the language isn’t too much different.

Gotta get me some of them Czech Budweisers!

It's been a rough beginning to 2023. Cherri and I held Willow (see avatar) last night until she drew her last breath. Words cannot describe the loss we feel right now but time will help with the healing. This is the payment we all must remit for the joy they bring into our lives. RIP sweet little one.
Very sorry to read this sad news about Willow, Dwight.
They certainly bring so much joy into our lives and it’s so heartbreaking to see them go.
May the many sweet memories of your time spent together help bring a measure of comfort to your hearts in this difficult time.

We are celebrating Tolkien's birthday with steak and stout pies, mushy peas, mashed potatoes, and High Water Brewing Campfire Stout. (Not pictured: salad. We're from California, we have to eat salad.) Homemade apple handpies to follow. After dinner, I'll be reading "Leaf by Niggle" to Dawn, and she's been reading selections from "Letters from Father Christmas" to me. My lambsfoot was already on hand but if it wasn't I would've had to go get it - it just seems like the appropriate accessory for this.

So raise your glass to J.R.R., who showed us other worlds so we could see our own more clearly.

Very cool Tyson.👍
And no, I don't have a unibrow . . . those are flip-up sunglass clip-ons.
Whatever Jeff... I know a unibrow when I see one...
Good morning Guardians !

Snowstorm dumped another 10 inches overnight here. schools and a lot of businesses closed this morning. Just finished clearing my deck and shoveling the front. Thankfully that's about all I have to do. I live in a Townhouse and we have a service that shovels the sidewalks and plows the driveways. My deck is however quite big as it is over my two car garage. I bought an electric snowblower a couple of years ago as it was getting to much for me to shovel anymore.

Beautiful scenes of a winter wonderland Steve.
Took another photo of my Christmas present before opening.
Never tried that one Bill but it looks deeeeeelicious. I'm sipping Nob Creek as I type.
This Ibberson seems to have the lines of a lamb but the tip is altered.
Bob looks like they tried to make a lamb into a sheep----s---foot.

That's a real shame for your wife. Gorgeous pics of your trip though. I hope she is well soon.

Thank you very much Dan. I appreciate your kind words.

There sure are some fine ebony Waynorth lambs shown lately so I'll repost mine from the other day.308030F1-9312-4603-81B3-1956EB4C758D.jpeg

Another in favor of it being a lambfoot. Thank you.

So sorry to hear this, Dwight. They do bring us joy, and parting is always hard.

My A Wright & Son lamsfoot turned up at the start of the week. There are no doubt some issues with fit and finish and if I tried using the nail nick my nail would depart my finger. There was still a burr on the blade too, but I touched it up to hair shaving sharp and to be honest for 45 quid posted to Aus its a decent working knife and I'm happy with it.

The one true disappointment is that they have "made in sheffield" stamped on the blade but nothing about the brand.

Thanks Dwight. I don't have any Nob Creek in my Bourbon collection but I'll be getting some soon. Srveral of my friends like it so I'll need to stock it! Love the Charlie Lambsfoot in Ebony. I had one in Jigged Bone but let it go some years ago. Wished I had it back.
